Not that you need to go full tilt down the superhero road, but if you are considering a third series the three ones I'd consider the best options opposite your first two would be My Adventures With Superman, X-Men 97, and Young Justice obviously. Those worlds would make very fun comparison points to MHA and Invincible, characters too.
It's very smart how this episode holds back with its gory elements until the end credit scene. Apart from maybe two drops of blood in the first half, there was nothing that would suggest that this would be different from any other lighthearted superhero show, just maybe with a more mature tone. And then Omni-Man shatters our comfort zone into pieces, literally killing the embodiment of classic superhero archetypes. What an amazing hook!
I love them playing catch and almost hitting the plane it shows both of their characters. Mark is not thinking about the danger of hitting something with the ball because he is new but Omniman knows the danger and simply does not care.
I can’t imagine a 1st episode title more suited than this one for a channel to start watching a series. “IT’S ABOUT TIME-you guys started watching Invincible.”
The best way I can describe the start of this show is it feels “safe.” You are introduced to the justice league who have everything sorted, they face day to day attacks like it’s nothing and are a well armored unit. As in the COMPLETE justice league. Not meeting and them learning how to work together. And it’s the perfect playground for a new superhero to gain his new footing as the son of the best of the best. And you can live completely carefree as you develop that. And then the post credits hit. To say you are UNSAFE is the ultimate understatement. Say goodbye to ALL guard rails, say goodbye to all safety nets, we are FREE FLYING this one. If you come into this blind and DON’T leave this episode completely stunned, I question your fight or flight response.
@@HaydrogenBombI’ve now read the entire comic. I think I clicked out of curiosity because I love superhero stuff but didn’t have any expectations. And then the scene hit. Aaaaand now there’s images completely plastered in my head for all eternity. Not sure if I’m going to give this show MHA treatment but I am capable of doing it. Yea, I came in compleatly blind - hadn't read the comics, handn't seen any clips, ANYTHING - and it was a TRIP. As soon as Josef got the first call, I remember saying outloud to myself in disbelief "Oh my god, *he's going to kill them* ", and wow, he SURE FRIGHING DID. And that ending there where Nolan falls and you're left realling in the silence in the aftermath as the true credits roll? GOLDEN.
This episode feels like the beginning of a fun but standard superhero story until the post-credits scene just kicks in and *destroys* any normality you think you had. It's just a masterful moment that makes the show immediately stand out.
It is a great moment that a lot of people miss out on because they got spoiled by random clips on the internet. But those clips also get people to check it out so 🤷
The comic did the same thing but bigger. There were about a half dozen or more issues before the big Omni Man Vs Guardians scene. Imagine reading a book for weeks or months depending on the release schedule and thinking it’s this quirky coming of age story and then THAT happens.
In the Invincible comics there was no big battle between Omni Man and the Guardians, they were all killed in one-hit K.Os. I actually prefer how the show did this over the comics. The Guardians may not be as powerful as Omni Man yeah, but at least most of them didn’t go down without a fight.
Yea. The way the show does it, highlights how he needed to get the jump on them to make it a sure win. I figured that was the whole point. Raise up the best people to resist, make the populace rely on them, then topple and replace them.
(semi spoilers for season one) It's interesting cause I see more or less Nolan as kind of the opposite of Endeavor... well, putting aside developments and progression, so taking the base status of both characters. Cause Mr. Dad Todoroki is a bad father, Shoto and most of his sons can't stand him, but Endeavor is a genuinely well intentioned hero who helps the world. Mark clearly sees Nolan as a good father and has a strong bond with him as a son, but Omniman is secretly not the hero the world thinks and is ill intended.

I remember when this came out for the first time and I brushed it off as just another superhero show (especially as this was in light of the boys and the Disney plus shows) but I’d heard reviews and people teasing the ending and I thought I’d give it a go. It has become some of my favourite superhero content in general (alongside the recent release of x men 97). This pilot is unreasonably well written. The first time I watched it, I could not believe how bland this episode was. Omniman is clearly a superman stand in. The only real difference between this show and Justice League is Omniman is doing his own thing instead of being a member of the Guardians. I went into the final scene feeling like this show was retread a bunch of territory already covered other places. But then that last scene really sets the tone and standard of violence the rest of the show will hold to. I just love the way the whole episode gets turned on its head.
Glad you two are finally watching this show. Great voice acting and great plot and the story gets even better past season 2 into the end of the comics.

@@alphajackal6648 i know what you mean but at the same time i want some events in the show to be longer than the comics the IW should be a whole episode if not two
Red Rush’s description of regular time being “agony” is kind of lifted from Marvel comics’ Quicksilver. He famously described his perception of time as “your life being slowed to a crawl by the inabilities or inconvenient behavior of others.”
I love how animation is becoming more and more recognized as a medium for all kinds of genres and not just children's media. Invincible is a great example for sure. Also, I love the way invincible does it's title card.
Montana's first words after the episode ends is a big draw of the channel for me: EVERY other react channel just focuses on the ending scene and nothing else. But Montana wanted to take the episode as a whole, looking at the bigger picture. And there ARE lots of good things about the episode aside from the twist at the end. Good stuff you guys, looking forward to what you'll think of the series.

So excited about this one! Invincible is awesome. Love how deeply it subverts classic superhero tropes. Would super love to see y'all react to Vox Machina next, honestly- it's only 24 episodes thus far and I think s3 would be coming out by the time you get to the end of s2. After that I would LOVE to see Steven Universe- of course I would, re: my icon, lol- but I do recognize that it's a longer commitment, which is why I defo suggest doing a few shorter series first. I would absolutely drop money on the patreon for Steven Universe specifically, though- I SUPER would want to be part of the discussion question generating for that show.
It's been mentioned before but go back to the conversation Red Rush had when he talked about how the briefest conversation feels like hours to him due to his faster perception. Apply that to the few seconds it takes Omni-Man to crush his skull. Likely hours from his view
Such a fantastic show, watched up to the midseason 2 break and then read the comics before it came back and its such a treat to get a superhero story that is a focused story with an end point. Robert Kirkman (always Robert never Rob or Bob or Bobby) has said this show has been like a second draft for him and it shows in so many great ways.
The voice actors here absolutely rock and put on such good performances. Usually actors who get voice acting roles can be kind of bland when voice acting and just tune in for the paycheck, but everyone here absolutely ruled. And fun fact: everyone who acts as someone in the Grayson family is not only typically more of a regular actor than voice actor, but was actually on your channel earlier! Sandra Oh was Castaspella in She-Ra, Steven Yeun was Wan was in Legend of Korra, as well as J.K. Simmons in both Gravity Falls as Ford and Tenzin in Korra!
Montanna - Robert Kirkman wrote both The Walking Dead and Invincible Comics concurrently for around 20 years. He’s a partner at Image comics and has done some stuff for Marvel and a lot of other creator owned stuff as well. Fun fact: the orange and yellow suit Mark tries on is the original concept sketch for the Invincible suit before they settled on the blue, black and yellow.
Hello. I just found your channel. Liked and subscribed for your Invincible journey. I'll be sure to check through your other reactions as well. Keep in mind what Red Rush said about time perception. It was less than a second that Omni-Man squeezed his head, but it felt like a very long, slow head crush for Red Rush.
My first time seeing it I had to leave to do something towards the end of the episode so I left as soon as the credits started and didn’t see the after scene. I was very confused at the start of the next episode and it was almost like a very unsubtle murder mystery to figure out who did it( even though Nolan was acting very sus cause you already knew he did it 😂)

just finished the comics this month i gotta say the twists and turns this show is about to pull is gonna be insane!!
Honestly, I think this will probably work better as a show than a comic. IMO, the comic sorta outstays its welcome. By issue 100 I was kinda ready to be done. An animated show has a chance to cut out a lot of filler.
@@alphajackal6648 i know what you mean but at the same time i want some events in the show to be longer than the comics the IW should be a whole episode if not two
What a family lol, Tenzin as the father, Avatar Wan as the son
Red Rush’s description of regular time being “agony” is kind of lifted from Marvel comics’ Quicksilver. He famously described his perception of time as “your life being slowed to a crawl by the inabilities or inconvenient behavior of others.”
Flash has the same
I love how animation is becoming more and more recognized as a medium for all kinds of genres and not just children's media. Invincible is a great example for sure. Also, I love the way invincible does it's title card.
i’ve noticed kenny always acts different when he’s seen something before Montana so i’m glad it’s only going to be for the fist episode😮💨😮💨
I know, right?
Montana's first words after the episode ends is a big draw of the channel for me: EVERY other react channel just focuses on the ending scene and nothing else. But Montana wanted to take the episode as a whole, looking at the bigger picture. And there ARE lots of good things about the episode aside from the twist at the end. Good stuff you guys, looking forward to what you'll think of the series.
The J.J. Jameson laugh was the perfect touch.
Not only do I LOVE Invincible and am so excited for your reactions to it, I would also be over the moon to see you react to the Legend of Vox Machina
Omni-Man kill counter boutta go crazy
I'm so glad they are watching Invincible, it's an amazing series
No way. Legit one of my favorite shows recently. Glad to see you guys are giving it a shot
Its intresting to see both of the mave somewhat different reactions to the traing haha. Its very mom pov and then dad pov. For me its very obviously a type of tough love to help mark get better
Make sure to hit like, comment, and subscribe if you're HYPED for this new series!!
A few things I want to point out that aren't spoilers:
1) Mark is voiced by Steven Yuen, whom portrayed Glenn on The Walking Dead. Also, because Robert Kirkman wrote both comic series & is in charge of both tv series some Walking Dead actors voice characters on the show, including The Guardians Of The Globe.
2) There was a 2 year gap in between Seasons 1 & 2 with a stand alone episode released in between them. Season 2 also just ended, but Season 3 has been confirmed to air in early 2025. So, that's 17 episodes you'll be able to watch before catching up.
3) During Omni Man's fight with The Guardians it was the only time we actually saw blood & death in the 1st episode, which built up how shocking & mature this series will be compared to say a Justice League cartoon. Also, a subtle detail was that Omni Man doesn't say a word during the entire fight & the music stopped playing during it, which only added to the mystery as to why he killed them.
You guys need to see my hero academia 2nd movie next
I actually haven't been able to watch this series since I don't have Amazon Prime.
I know the cliff ones cause this is a popular series that came out a while ago, but for the most part, I'll be right alongside you guys!
Please react to attack on Titan in 9 minutes PLEASE!!!
And you guys make sure you stay cute ;----)
Wow i was hoping theyd react to this. This is definitely something im looking more forward to Kennys reactions to than Montana this time.
So excited for this series, I have been wanting to watch this for a long time, I guess this is the perfect opportunity to watch along with you!!
As an Avatar The Last Airbender fan I would really love for you to react to Steven Universe next, the first season might be a little to childish, but it is such a worth setup for the amazing show it is.
Thank you for the amazing content
*The “I” on his chest isn’t just for Invincible but also Image Comics*
I just watched invincible last month and loved it I’m glad to sees you recreating to it
Somewhere on RUclips is an in dept analysis of the Omniman fight. It shows how he won so easily on top of his power.
I subscribed to you, 29 seconds after this video started, as soon as I learned one of your cat's names is Hogarth (The Iron Giant is my favorite movie)
The Immortal? Killable. The Invincible? Feels pain from Omniman's punches
This is such an interesting show! Glad you guys decided to give it a chance!
Oh no Kenny and Montana ARE NOT ready.....
It's been mentioned before but go back to the conversation Red Rush had when he talked about how the briefest conversation feels like hours to him due to his faster perception.
Apply that to the few seconds it takes Omni-Man to crush his skull. Likely hours from his view
Honestly viewing this now after watching the whole series brings whole new meaning to Nolan/Omnimans reactions
1:40 I was in Anchorage, Alaska’s Arctic Comic Con and I finally got to take a photo with someone you two know…
Mark Hamill went from Awful Father in avatar to lovable old man in this.
JK Simmons went from lovable old man to awful father.
I just learned that Mark Hamill voiced Firelord Ozai.
I think y’all would LOVE “Frieren: Beyond Journeys End” and it’d be such a good series to react to ☺️
Such a fantastic show, watched up to the midseason 2 break and then read the comics before it came back and its such a treat to get a superhero story that is a focused story with an end point. Robert Kirkman (always Robert never Rob or Bob or Bobby) has said this show has been like a second draft for him and it shows in so many great ways.
STEVEN UNIVERSE REACTIONS WOULD MAKE MY WORLD
"That's not actually him, there's no way"
Yeah, you can change him girl, he's just a misunderstood bad boy.
I just realized you wouldn’t hear the ball because it’s definitely traveling supersonic
Oh god, this show... oh boy... what an adventure to see you guys go through!
Absolutely Legends of Vox Machina.
Grog is such a wholesome guy, super supportive, and ridiculous strength.
Oh yay I’m so glad you guys are checking out another show I’ve seen!
Yes!!! Ive been wanting yall to react to this show
Ah it’s always a blast to see episode 1 reactions
you know, for a show called "invincible" there's a whole lot of death
For being called "Invincible" a lot of people can see him
@@snowman9631 So underrated 😂
Glad you guys are doing the superhero genre, expanding from the usual anime content m
You guys are in for a roller coaster with this show. Just gonna say this be prepared for so many plot twists
Yessss!!! So excited .... aint no way yall starting invincible this is soo good ❤❤
Yes finally the show I waited for
20:53 bruhhhh 😂 i always thought it was a kickass reference
A show you guys could check out next if you’re still on the superhero kick is Spectacular Spider-Man or the new My Adventures with Superman
I can't wait! Can they actually be prepared for just how hard this show goes?!?!
i thought that "Ass kicker" was a reference to Kick ass, that one super hero in green and yellow suit, but thats a good one too.
I haven't really watched y'all since aot ended, it's about time I tuned back in
Legend of Vox for sure perfect recap of Matt Mercers dnd campaign
17:33 Montana knows... it clicked right then
I imagine many of us are looking forward to how they’ll react to certain scenes, especially Montana. 😅
so excited for this series!!
So glad you two are checking this out. Also you're doing Steven Universe and Vox Machina too! I gotta watch those.
My first time seeing it I had to leave to do something towards the end of the episode so I left as soon as the credits started and didn’t see the after scene. I was very confused at the start of the next episode and it was almost like a very unsubtle murder mystery to figure out who did it( even though Nolan was acting very sus cause you already knew he did it 😂)
Ohhhh boyy, you two are in for a ride, so strap up and enjoy
Montana- It doesn't seem that bad yet Literally the rest of us- does she know??😏
Really happy about this 🤍
SO HYPED FOR INVINCIBILE. I've been a fan since the OG avatar tiktok series. Hope yall enjoy!!!
You guys are going to react to this?!....awesome!!
well im so happy that you are reacting to this :D
"In real life when someone's possessed..."
What does Montana know? 👀😂
Fun fact: there at least 4 people who voiced ATLA/LOK; are you able to spot Azula, Katara, Wan, and Tenzin?
Wait who is Katara?
@@shiloh3541 war woman's assistant
Watching Montana restain herself while Kenny continued listing superhero tropes, cracked me up
