I beg to differ, he said the main reason that he dislike graphics is due to the long loading times. However nowadays we have for the most part fixed this with solid state drives becoming the norm. (especially with things like the ps5 being able to optimize the shit out of it) But gameplay does matter more than graphics so I still agree in that regard.
Allot of people dont realise that loading screens arent just about graphics, but theres tons of other game data as well that has to be loaded. I for one enjoy a game with heavy emphasis on graphics. Like yeah something like golden eye 007 was fun and had no loading screens, but i get allot more enjoyment out of the immersion of looking at something realistic like the recent cod games. Not saying a game needs good graphics to be good, but games with better graphics typically are better to me than games with less defined graphics.

Well, on console it's had me take like 1-2 mins of loading time to get to my world, and it's pretty consistent on doing that, but I've had it for 5 years now so that's probably the discs fault

Syrupymen Exactly, I mentioned it because grade was saying something about downloads in GTA5.
GTA5's issue isn't the same thing as the first time log in for source games though.
The first time log in litterally has you download tons of files, install them, THEN loads them to your ram.
GTA's issue is that it's loading data from your hard drive to your ram while communicating to online at the same time. Significally different situations.

And it's a silly gripe really (but hey that's what these videos are about). Visuals are part of the enjoyment- it's when you start caring too much about them that it gets silly.

But you would still starve to death eventually if you didn't bother with the nutrition, the entire point of food, so the analogy works.
You don't physically but it goes a long way if what you're eating smells good, it's all part of the experience. It wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable to eat something that tasted amazing if it smelled like old, used tissues and looked like someone took a dump on your plate because they didn't give a fuck about it.

At the end of the day, its about how much you enjoy the gameplay and features, rather than just looking at textured polygons.

Loading screens aren't a matter of graphics they are a matter of poor optimization and utilization of hardware. Plenty of amazing looking games with near 0 load times.

Con Cahill for example in Dark Souls if you didn't use the fast travel or you didn't die you can actually travel the entire game without seeing one loading screen. but you died and then you watch a loading screen that's like 20 seconds long but at least there's some cool item descriptions to read while you're waiting. I play the game for fun and I don't care what the game looks like I just play the game Minecraft is a great game I don't need the best graphics to enjoy it God of War 3 if it had low-res polygons like PlayStation 1 type polygons and more Gameplay at it so it was more fun I would play the hell out of it.

the soundtrack is good outside of the game, thus making it a separate product, whilst graphics are merely tools to allow us to understand what's happening, thus only relevant in the context of the game and not separately.

BUt in singleplayer the only loading screen is building the world which takes 8 seconds and when i turned shaders on it took way longer

Premium Grade believes concoles are the only way to go
Premium GTA still takes up to 5 minutes to load online even with SSD, but that is the only thing that takes longer than 5-10 seconds to load in my experience (except CoD AW with preload shaders).

Because it's a boring game from a gameplay perspective. Grade's talking shit about how gameplay is the only thing that matters then brings up undertale because it "has a great soundtrack". I mean I love undertale but it's a completely mediocre bullet hell that I'd expect from a flash game. Gameplay is not the only thing that makes a game good. Also minecraft is garbage for little kids.

Gotta disagree with you on the graphics part. For some games, no, graphics don't matter. But for other games, particularly ones that want you to get immersed in it's world, graphics can have a huge impact.
Would GTA V really be just as enjoyable if it had GTA III graphics? Would it really mean absolutely nothing to you? And would downgrading it that much really be worth the shorter loading times? Think about it.
And also, that No Man's Sky part wasn't a loading screen. That was just him flying to another planet. The reason it took him so long is that he wasn't using the Pulse Engine - a thing you can build for your ship that makes travelling through space way faster.

Sammy Matyas Theres a game called Just Cause 3, which has onr the largest maps in any videogame, runs a good solid 40-50 fps on consoles, a solid 60 on a good PC, great graphics and physics, and the gameplay is awesome. This is 2016 bud, stop complaining.

Looking at No Man's Sky now compared to 3 years ago, I can safely say that the devs did a good job and the game has improved massively

I'm pretty sure loading time is down to how the information is stored and accessed. While this did change because developers and gamers wanted greater graphical fidelity (and needed slower but higher capacity storage to accomplish that). I don't think graphics is directly responsible for slow load times. If you have Skyrim stored on an HDD. Then dependent on it's RPMs, how fragmented the drive is etc. It can take a few minutes to actually launch. Throw it over to an SSD (retro games are basically a primitive form of SSD btw) and it may launch in seconds.
For about the last 15 years game developers have been making games primarily with optical or magnetic storage in mind. And we are only just starting to see the wheel turn on that. With new higher capacity, less pricey, and smaller form factor SSDs. And digitial downloading through curators taking off. I really think we will see a shift with this in the next 5 years and even the most graphically intense games might become a lot faster.

TheHelleri maybe the next GTA should just be a bunch of stick figures on a small map with no free roam content just so people don't have to wait a few minutes to play a game with no loading once you're already in game and great graphics.

Loading screens are necessary. It takes some time for a game's assets to load so loading screens are there so you don't have to look at a blank screen for a minute or so. In old videogames these assets where just a couple kbs now they are GBs so it obviously takes longer for a system to load them no matter how powerful it is.

Part of the load time problem can also be poor optimization on the dev's part.
Bloodborne had TERRIBLE loading time issues, and with a patch, it got significantly better. so it does have a lot to do with how optimized the loading scripts are.
But it also has to do with using fast data transfers from your hard drive. Since a slow hard drive will make even games with modest graphics take very long to load.
The fastest hard drive i've seen was a solid state drive that connects directly to the motherboard by a serial bus similar to how a graphics card connects to it rather than a Sata cable. making it's speeds almost as fast as the ram itself.

It depends on what you consider long. I use an HDD and it took around 10 - 20 seconds for a loading screen.

They just put unnecessary load onto your computer. A person with a low end cheap computer has almost no chance in FPS's because of lag and the fact that sometimes 'low graphic quality' isn't low enough.
The MadGamingGeek That's your own fault. Any up to date computer will run any new game. Don't complain when your laptop with integrated Intel graphics and 2gigs of RAM can't run Grand Theft Auto V.
Just going to point out that CS:S is one of the best FPS of all time, and that BF1942, BF2, and BF2142 were the best battlefields (and hence, some of the best FPS of all time), and they all had the fuck graphics mentality.
Shooters especially should follow this mentality. We want graphics clarity people, not quality. I'd take the simple, but very visible and clear graphics of counter strike (or the old battlefields) over these filter saturated, over the top graphics we have now.

Whenever my game's FPS drops, I always turn down shit like Anti-Aliasing, Resolution and Graphics.
Even with the remastered versions, I still turn down the graphics because I want a game with 60 FPS. Not 4K Resolution Graphics.

People then think that the entire fanbase consists of that cringey minority when in reality 95% of the fanbase aren't cringy, they just refuse to be associated with the cringy 5%.Instead of getting rid of them we stayed silent and let them represent the game now when anyone thinks of undertale they immediately think of its "bad" fanbase

It's just so annoying when I try to rank up and this max lvl is running around with a shotgun sitting in corners trying to go on a killing spree. If you play against other people who like to be competitive then I don't consider you a tryhard.
STUNTS yeah but you can outsmart most of these maxed out players also if you're not maxed out and the game puts you against a maxed out then I say that game matchmaking system is rigged, it needs to put you against equal lvl players to see the real skill.
The thing that I don't like is how I play slightly better than the majority of people but I get placed in lobbies with all these ESport Gods running around getting headshots on me before I can do anything. I'm seriously considering going afk for a whole day and dying just so that the skilled based matchmaking thinks that I'm shit lol
STUNTS maybe you should stop playing the game? There was a game called blitz brigade, before any major updates happen it was great, the players with most skill win. Now vehicles cost gems, most weapons cost gems, two new op character that cost GEMS. And it became from the best players win to the players that spend the most win and I had a really good record so they put me against the best players, and we all know best players = they spend the most money. I quit two years until they fix their rigged game yet they haven't fixed it. Just quit is my tip.

Not necessarily, because it has to load all the games assets in too, just like singleplayer. Because you're connecting to the internet, Online will take longer, but it's a marginal difference. Singleplayer on Xbone takes somewhere around 3-4 minutes for me, while online takes closer to 4 or over. Going from singleplayer to Online is faster because the assets are already loaded into the game, and that still takes forever.

its not the graphics that slows the loading of gamea, its the objects on the map, and the AIs, and many other things that dont have to do with graphics,sure the better graphics make the game load faster, but its nit the main factor.
also if you want to load games fast, buy a good PC and get an SSD instead of a Hard drive, these might load the game in less than a minute.

1: Graphics aren't the only reason thing that slow a game down, scope, and optimization are larger factors. take for instance No Man's Sky. It is BILLIONS of times larger than the original mario. Also i know tons of games that look great and run well such as Bioshock and the remasters.
2: All the games you listed during the non graphics club are intentionally created with a "retro" or "Unique"' style that is deliberate. They are trying to invoke a sense of nostalgia or trying to differentiate themselves with competitors and fit the theme of the game.
Sidenote: four and a half minutes is four minutes thirty seconds instead of four minutes twenty seconds.
