I had a boss once that made us go in, even if we were sick, except if we went to the hospital and got a doctor's note after. Until I ruined the carpet in her office, I had the stomach flu and got sick on the carpet, just a little, I got sick 3 times on the way to work. Needless to say, the policy changed that very day.

For my boss you have every reason to worry. One of our new administrators who shows a lot of passion and commitment, bubbly personality etc. ended up extremely ill, throwing up blood etc. due to a viral infection and ended up in hospital. My boss didn't fire her, but the entire time I shit you not he was saying shit like "Young people need to learn how to hold down a job" and "Back when I was in my twenties, if you were sick you still came in, if you were sick sick then you didn't"
Because throwing up blood and risking infecting every other employee in our small workshop is not "sick sick" enough apparently, I even brought up that it would be selfish for her to risk infecting every other member in the workshop and that they would all take sick leave then but he didn't care. I'm fucking over the attitude of most old people, honestly.

Buspirone is the doctor's go to I believe these days. Meant to treat mild disorders and take up to 6 weeks of usage to take effect.
If you have a serious case you get prescribed a benzodiazepam which take effect right away and give a euphoric feeling leading them to become addictive real fast. Doctor's dont like to prescribe the latter due to its addictive properties.

I called in sick once before and it was the worst excuse ever. All I said was "I'm sneezing a lot" and thats it!! My boss was like "Ok, cool man" and hanged up!! Im sure you could imagine how dumbfounded I was after that chat!! I was also terrified because I thought he was going to fire me after the excuse I gave him for not going to work that day. But once I went to work the next day he didn't bring it up and nothing ever happened to me!!

They were legitimate sicknesses (one was a cold with a fever, and the other was conjunctivitis), but I felt like I was faking because of the days I called off for. I worked at a food processing factory with a boss who'd force sick employees to come into work and just wear a mask. One day there was a new hire who seemed a bit nervous -probably his first job. A couple weeks after getting hired, he mentioned he felt sick on the job and said he probably can't come in the next day as he should go visit a doctor. The boss flipped his shit and started telling him if he wants his job, he can go to his doctor on the weekend -needless to say this job isn't union.
So he came in the next day, looking sicker than an Ebola victim, and proceeded to puke all over the product. Somehow the tainted food passed inspection and got packaged. The mass recall forced the factory to shut down.
Just last month I saw my boss working at as a manager at Subway. His attitude hasn't changed.

REKTZ Vlogs I’ve dealt with something similar. Not the same but what had happened was I was working my first job at Taco Bell, I end up getting really good in the kitchen and was one of the fastest taco rollers there and I was 16 (at this point I was maybe two three months into the job) eventually school ended and the corporate company that owned my Taco Bell didn’t care what times I work till. So eventually I started closing the store and my hours were from 4pm-2:30am and I did this every night for two months until I finally said I wanted a raise because everyone who was hired on after me got paid more for some reason. I was getting paid 11.50 everyone else was getting paid 11.75-12 which is bs and if you ever worked a job you know that adds up. I got the manager to agree and then a month passes by, haven’t heard a thing about my raise, two months pass by and I finally decide to quit because the management was bad (trucks never delivered the right supplies, messed with my schedule constantly without telling me, and they allow lazy ass employees to work there) and I still heard nothing about my raise. and then two weeks later, my old co worker told me everyone got raises... they all now get paid 12.50+

This is so relatable, I have trained myself to hawk up phlegm, wet cough, sneeze, and sound nasally plugged up on command, just so I can rest easy knowing I fully convinced someone that I was sick, while I was sincerely sick.
