Just realized this video is suddenly getting views for some reason. Before you comment or rag on me know I still stand behind everything I said and personally detest the game, but also if you enjoy the game that's fine and even good I'd say, but if you come at me snarkily or aggressively then that's on you. My feelings on this game are complicated. It isn't what I wanted, it isn't what fans wanted, and I was so confident that it wouldn't be good that I uploaded a video called "The Last Good Paper Mario Game" on the DAY it released. I agree with you on basically everything you said, and especially that closing statement. I think I wouldn't enjoy this game at all if I played it alone. I played it all the way through with my 9 year old nephew, and seeing his joy at basically all the things this game presented (while I was trying to hide how frustrating some parts were) was super nice... I wouldn't really say kirby was oversimplified during the Wii u era. Sure I'll admit it was a bit for rainbow curse but Triple Deluxe and Planet robobot are pretty good games and the main antagonists have pretty tragic backstories and the story isn't really oversimplified.
I honnestly really liked the game. Okay, I hate puzzles, and especially those fighting puzzles (maybe I should have trained in the lab), but they didn't stop me to love everything else in the game. Especially trying to see which goofy instrument they paired with metal music the next time.

I personally didn't think the text was that slow except when the origami enemies spoke. Battles could get a bit tedious with normal enemies but at least u have items and toads to solve the battle puzzle for u (which couldn't figure out till near the end of the game lmao). I will say I wish partners did more in battle, weren't temporary outside of Olivia, had their own hp and fp (Bobby being the obvious exception to fp) oh and I wish Mario had special moves and fp too. I also wish that you gained experience for battles as confetti and coins are nice, but u get those so easy that by midgame it's no longer a good reward for battles. Confetti outside of battles were fine imo it was kinda easy to run out of early on but u were never required to fill every hole, and starting midgame you almost always have more then enough. Also some toads got unique designs cool but why are so many partners generic designs? Bobby kinda is unique I guess and there's prof toad that's it (only counting partners in battle for design). The bowser minions are either generic or only slight recolors and besides a few exceptions like the snow spike enemies and the crabs most enemies are generic mario enemies but origami. The song numbers were fine imo, at first I was annoyed but honestly they grew on me and didn't last super long either. Maybe I missed it but I didn't recall that many memey jokes or references. This game has issues but I think your takeaway is more negative on them than my own, and such is the nature of stuff like this. It's not what used to be, sure, but it's nowhere near as boring and obtuse as Sticker Star. It's stripped down from what made the old games good, but has plenty of its own merit. The level design is legitimately the best in the series. The old games had hallways for an overworld and dungeons that were serviceable. They really did shine with the battle system. Origami King is the opposite. The world is organically open and seamless, the dungeons are reminiscent of Zelda in their structure and complexity. They're not mind-bending, they're still decently easy, but they're fun to go through. The ring is boring but I do like how it's ised in boss battles. The confetti was fine. I related to your scenario of sheepishly trying to calculate how much you need but I never thought it was a big deal. It's unfortunate that they're trying to avoid what made the old games good, because they're kind of acknowledging that what came before was better, but they still want to make something new out of what people actively do mot want. That said, Origami King Kong succeeds more than it fails in my opinion. It could've been more, but what's here is decently fun. I'd take it any day over replaying levels to get the sticker the game wants me to have so I can use it in a scripted ass boss fight or contrived "puzzle".
You can one shot literally every enemy in the game if you use the right weapon. Also idk what your issue was with the hints in bosses. It's not like they gave it to you for free, you still needed to make sure it was in your path, and they weren't exactly instant win buttons.

To be honest, out of color splash, sticker star, and origami king, I found that origami king was the best out of the 3. However, none of them can ever compare to the OG 3. Still, its new battle system and (the only unique) fun characters, and a good story, made the game good enough in my book!

I wish Nintendo brought back Mario's voice cause now Mario feels just like your regular main character also it felt like mario doesn't have a voice now.
Wow, I also don't like eggs! They gross me out most of the time. Great in-depth review. Slow text speed in a game always makes me want to drink bleach. That and too much text/talking.
Great video. I'd recommend this game to people. There were many many points that I enjoyed. But gripes were definitely a'plenty. Hope they can iron things out better next time. God, the story was such garbo. I couldn't care less. Bobby carried this game.
the story is not garbo, the story for this game is great, it explains Bobby's backstory, it's shows how in this game how Origami like Olly and Olivia can come to life, and it's shows that some areas and characters have lore to them
I personally really enjoy origami king as a new comer to the franchise and I don't know why but I was running out of coins a lot especially near the end because I wanted to get all the accesories.
The song numbers were fine imo at first I was annoyed but honestly they grew on me and didn't last super long, maybe I missed it but I didn't recall that many memey jokes or references. I just remember the jokes being funny and we'll written for the most part. Also the ending completely ruins Olly's character and Olivia killing herself made no sense unless she was worried she'd be used for evil? Also origami king having no postgame is lame there's just filling the museum which while cool for the art gallery and treasures isn't really worth it for anything else. Besides all that though it's easily my second favorite paper Mario outside ttyd, one I'll definitely replay in the future but I respect your opinion. 2/2
Ok so before I start talk I will go pick up my trash because seriously I liked this game also this game was literally the best game of the year of the COVID so sorry mate but if you didn’t like this game then you should probably stop playing good games
Lets be real look at franchises like pokemon and final fantasy for example ofc add new things shake things up but removing things is just bad they shouldve sticked to the first 2 paper marios and added up on that imo
I bought it because it was for only 699 mexican pesos (35 dollars) on mercadolibre , I would regret it but I am going to exchange it for pokemon sword, which costs like 1200 pesos (60 dollars). I never played any paper mario before so my thoughts about the game aren't bonned to the old good paper mario games. But I genuinely HATE this game. I HATE olivia and I HATE the battle system. I hate how long it is, it's like, you have to go to a certain place but before, you will always have to do 4 or 5 similiar tasks, like gathering 4 shells, lighting 4 towers, having to touch 4 statues, having to take 3 challenges and having to take 4 baths (plus an extra one) just to get to the place you are supposed to go. It just felt like the game wanted me to never finish it. And after watching your video I realized that I will never play the good part (the last hour you said) of the game because I am too tired and I got a friend who wants to exchange it with his pokemon sword.
I haven't played the game, but I've seen videos of it, and I don't think I like it so far either. I don't know, maybe it's me, but it feels like the first two Paper Mario games rock, and the rest just don't (although I would say Super Paper Mario is decent). Anyone else?

8:26 yeah there is there’s a pleepy sound
I wish Nintendo brought back Mario's voice cause now Mario feels just like your regular main character also it felt like mario doesn't have a voice now.
Wow, I also don't like eggs! They gross me out most of the time. Great in-depth review. Slow text speed in a game always makes me want to drink bleach. That and too much text/talking.
Great video.
I'd recommend this game to people.
There were many many points that I enjoyed.
But gripes were definitely a'plenty. Hope they can iron things out better next time.
God, the story was such garbo. I couldn't care less. Bobby carried this game.
The story of Chapter 5 (Shangri Spa and Bowser’s Castle) was really good.
the story is not garbo, the story for this game is great, it explains Bobby's backstory, it's shows how in this game how Origami like Olly and Olivia can come to life, and it's shows that some areas and characters have lore to them
What you take that back!
great vid!
I personally really enjoy origami king as a new comer to the franchise and I don't know why but I was running out of coins a lot especially near the end because I wanted to get all the accesories.
Til elu tran wasnt the only account for stuff like this
I loved this game
Same
The song numbers were fine imo at first I was annoyed but honestly they grew on me and didn't last super long, maybe I missed it but I didn't recall that many memey jokes or references. 2/2
Ah yes. The LEGEND Of ZELDA. BREATH of the BREATH.
wake up honey new gonz
new gonz, holy moly
Finally, some good content
I forgot to say that I hate toaaaaaads.
You exchanged this game for Pokémon Sword? Maybe your taste is just bad.
Good video 👍
I haven't played the game, but I've seen videos of it, and I don't think I like it so far either. I don't know, maybe it's me, but it feels like the first two Paper Mario games rock, and the rest just don't (although I would say Super Paper Mario is decent). Anyone else?
Woah thats crazy. Do a video on Chulip
Color splash was great
thanks!
I appreciate your review however i personally really love this game
NEW GONZ 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
