I’m happy for you! I worked at a shop for 17 years. I was well respected with the jobbers, and even other painters around neighboring shops. The shop let me do my thing. The dealership went out of business, and I was out of a job. I went to a couple of other shops, that micromanaged me, to the point to where I handed them the gun and told them to go spray it. The boss just kept
arguing with me, and I just pulled my car into the shop without saying anything, and loaded my tools. The boss said, what are you doing? I told him I wasn’t going to put up with his s…t, handed him his keys, and tore ass out of there. You are right though, I love both Standox, and PPG Envirobase. Greetings from the USA!

I can tell you've found your next professional home purely based on the sound of your voice. It's so good to hear and see you levels of enthusiasm increase purely based on the shop's mentality
So glad to see you back in your element. Busy shop, lots of units to smash out every day. You always do good work, nice to see you challenged again. I have 30 years as a collision painter and you have no idea how similar we are when it comes to this trade.
If you’re planning on painting there for a while, start shooting a spray out of every color you spray. Keep them nice and organized. It’ll make you money

Dude, I love your attitude. I have always had a passion to be a 'spray painter' and a good one at that 😂 (if only). I have a passion for 'car detailing' but I'd love to be able to lay down serious sick paint on vehicles, like you are doing....RESPECT MATE 👍. You are good at your job and obviously have a passion for detail (your not the average factory line painter). Ever since I started watching your vid's, as a layman I still get informative info on whatever your doing. I really enjoy people that have a real interest in their job, not just turning up and doing something just to pay the bills. Looking forward to next vid's 👊

It's tough to find the right shop, I'll agree there. And I've been trying to quit for 23 years, then I did. Finally I realized, I love this shit and can't stand not being around it.
@@AD1978leo I agree after that long it's tough to go into something else unless it's something you're extremely passionate about. I love the job but the shops kill your love of the job and career.
I worked here many years ago when they were building this shop. Enjoyed my time there.

Fantastic to see u happy in the new workshop! I used PPG Envirobase for 2 years and loved it! It seemed to have the colours very close from the specro, its my favourite paint system to use, have fun :)

Great video Gunny looks like you have a very nice workshop there, you should ask your boss for the same booth's that Gabe from Motivated Painters has where there is a central bake oven and the cars are on rails and you just push them sideways into the oven after painting 😂 after all he uses PPG like you do so you should have the same 😁
Like you I hate being micromanaged I've only had that once so didn't stay there very long. My last job was making the outer panels for MRI Scanners for hospitals and had to be spotless with zero defects, this was done in a vacuum mould where I had to spray a matting agent so the panel came out with a certain gloss level (the mould is full gloss) you then apply the gel coat and add the fibre matt and resin then the thickness of the panel was controlled via the vacuum pressure so there was a lot to go wrong but I never hardly saw the boss unless there was a problem. I have been using this PPG water for a little while now. One thing I have found on some color chips is. I find my best color chip , Mix it up and paint it . Then the color does not look the same as the chip. double check mix again and sill the mix will not match the color chip. Had the paint reps look at a couple of these chips .
They mix them and got the same result.

You’ll love ppg the trick in a hot climate is getting your viscosity right or you can get sandpiling

Personally gun man you deserve better you dont need that kind of greaf from anyone you have a great number of subscribers your skills are incredible if I was your boss I would not quistion you how you should do your job or anyone with 21 or more years of experience like you say paint some cars I would let you get on with however you do your jobs you get the job done I am happy for you as long as your comfortable in the work plase you work and thank you for the tour

Nice shop! I sprayed the Envirobase with the 2021 clear for a while. Loved how it sprayed. Crazy how you get these guns so early. You showed the Devilbiss DV1-S and I thought "Damn.. I just bought the DV1-B... ugh" So I'm going to guess the "S" stands for sealer given their current labeling strategy. Guess I'll know soon. Look forward to it and all of your vids man. Any dirty panel that’s got dirt all over the back etc exactly the way to do it. Just run into troubles with dust and oil/silicone etc best to wash first and last if needed totally agree

Very keen to see some vids with the envirobase. Ive just changed over from Glasurit and it took a little time to adjust. PPG reps keep pushing SATA and claim that only the 5500 will get good results. If you know suitable settings to base up with a DV1 please let me know.
Bought a PROLite and use 1.3 with the TE20 for clear off your recommendations, and I love it. Just got in a DV1 base gun for the same reason. We are using Debeer solvent and the tech guys agreed it's a great gun. Expensive gun but like you this is how I put food on the table so it will pay for itself in no time. Keep up the great work!

I use the same system but I’m in Kentucky in the US and they have an auto adjust option where it will shade it for you
The problem I have with checking the color chips is say you pick one you like and mix it up. But it doesn’t look like the chip you picked. I’ve ran into this with a bunch of Toyota colors.

Amen. I quit a job after 2 weeks because of the micro management….especially when they have 0 experience.
25 years experience. I just got a lesson on how to use mixing cups 😫 try being micromanaged by a hobbyist.
Nice Gunny. I’ve sprayed Envirobase for a bit, it’s decent. If you can have a look at Sherwin 9K ( rebranded DeBeer 900 ) it’s fairly comparable in cost, a sight better imo if the shop isn’t contracted. 👍

So which is system is the best Akzo (Sikkens), Axalta (Spies Hecker), and PPG ( Envirobase), and Why?
I am in the United States and there are shops here that actually require painters to use a specific paint gun, they may tell you to use a sata 5500 for base and an Iwata ws 400 for clear and it doesnt matter to them that you have to go out and buy $1500. worth of equipment to work there. it does not matter that you get great results with yourTekna pro lite, you are not allowed to use it at that shop.

I have a full car to be sprayed and I have all ways said this this car ever gets painted it will be you and now your in Melbourne can be true thats if you take on jobs that is or you work place to take it on but you to paint 🤙🏾🍻
Why wouldn't your first prep be washing it clean. As for micro managers that's easy those that can do it, do it. Those that can't just tell you how to do it. Or get deck'ed at some point. Looks like a nice place to work glad you found somewhere you can settle.

I shot PPG for years if it's the same software as in the states there is an option to adjust the color on the spectro but it has to be 10 or above on a 1-10 scale with one being spot on and 10 being garbage. But it wouldn't tell you the adjust result such as well it went from an 11 to 2 in match quality so I never trusted it.
wow I was going to quit after watching your video about micro-managing I was laid off with this covid but I feel better lol no I'm not going back there, interesting I put the air psi up and paint faster lays metallic flat I found.

Be glad when I get a lot better at auto painting and detailing but it will take a while probably only been painting but not all the time some for a little over a year now. I just got another lvlp spray gun this week. I know next time I do paint when I mask a whole vehicle instead of just masking one part at a time will do the whole vehicle at once with plastic by laying one side of plastic on one side and taking to the other but it's lot of stuff need to get better at. But still wanna go God's route for me in my life not my family's plan or another person's plan. I know I have been at a lot of jobs in my life over 20 and am 42 but not trying to be working for at the 9 to 5 working for another man's or woman company too much longer. It already at point of my life and actually before 40 wanted to work for myself since in 30's. I know it will be different moving away from the cold in Michigan and moving down to Texas but am willing to do that and more in my life.
Everyone is trying to tell you this is a crap job. You will end up working 60 hours for 40 hours worth of work. Check all the gunman videos this is like the 4th shop in the past year. Its a horrible job and I would look into something else to be honest. Unless you like being treated like crap and pushed to work at an insane speed with no mistakes then go for it.

do you ever struggle with being overloaded.
I get a lot of flack over it. But, I love ENVIROBASE. Super user friendly. But, you’ll need to have your color theory skills in tune. The EC530 and EC550 clears are a dream.

I've been a follower for years, Im in melbourne, I reached out you ages ago I remeber you mentionuing BMW bundoora for whatever I was aksing you about.
I'd like to critiscies the cmera, might eb time for a news one featuring at least 720p defintion at 60fps. Or it might be the uplaoding procdure stopping the quality due to compression or soemthing.
I have been recording in 2.7k at 30fps and then upscale to 4K and that's how it hits RUclips. Try changing video settings on RUclips, little gear icon on-screen click that then choose video quality, hit 4K and tell me if it's better. I know by default it usually isn't 4K unless you have really fast internet
@@TheGunmanChannel yes excuse me I have changed the quality ummm I think I mean the crisp/sharpness of your footage when moving about, and the footage must be in 30fps, theres no 60fps in a hd resoltuion available in the setting/gear icon tab.
Hope all is best, I don't know must've been a bit preachy that day. Hope you can show us something cool or different or a project at your new workshop. Maybe something difernt that would make some business look appealing or something of a special product. Thoughts on many detailers around, interview, or the mobile repair vans etc.
Been spraying ppg for about 12years. Not sure what they've changed but over the last year seems like the paint stays soft and never really gets rock hard and the clear seems to be losing shine after a few months. We've had cars get in other accidents and they come back in and we're like shit what the hell is going on with the paint lately

@@TheGunmanChannel no, northern California. We use envirobase and the clear is also the envirobase ec550,ec530,ec520. All the years of color matching is the reason I'd love to figure out what is the issue cause between me and the other painter we have a lot of our own spray out cards made that we don't really have to tint anymore unless it's a brand new color

No doubt!! It's a shop I do feel lucky to work in, especially because of the up to date equipment.

No matter how good someone is at painting most of the shops are the same and they look at the painter like anyone could do the job. No respect and with little to no one going into this field which I don't blame the shops are going to be in trouble. They would rather have someone push out trash then someone that cares.
PPG sucks, soft paint that adheres like oil and water.
