I live on 12 acres in the country and was on the patio one day and a single hummingbird flew by me. I instantly ordered a feeder on Amazon and hung it up. That single bird indulged by itself for months until a second one showed up. Fast forward to this week and I have about 25 plus here now and it grows each day. They came out of nowhere. I am ordering more feeders now because my single feeder isn't cutting it anymore lol..super cool!
These are Resilient little creatures! I Adore them! For about 3 years I had about 10 feeders on my porch, = Alot of Work and Cleaning! But every year, one single bird would TAP on our window to kinda tell us that she was here and to please feed them! They are like yearly pets, and they are trully Amazing! One of God's gifts to the world for sure! Awesome video BTW, Thank you!!
One evening, while at a Walmart SuperCenter in Amherst, NH, I saw some birds flying around inside. Later, I saw about four birds gathered around the Lawn and Garden Centerfoors. One of those birds 🐦 seemed smart enough to know that if it will "fludder around this device" just above the doors and they will "magically" open. Sure enough, once those doors opened up the lead bird flew out, followed by the other three that were sitting there waiting for the right time.
I am refilling my hummingbird feeder up every few days now. I’ve got so much traffic I’m thinking about hiring an air traffic controller. Your traffic seems a lot higher.
What part of the country do you live in ? What do you use in your feeders? I live on the West coast of Florida & I've been using commercial nectar. I'd greatly appreciate some pointers, if you will.
What a special video! I am in aw of you!!! thank you for making this, I love the time line, it was suspenseful and full of wonderment! You are a great videographer and story teller. My hat's off to you!!!
@@AgendaInMind I've always used ¼c granulated sugar to 1c water. You can make it stronger, but they won't feed as often. I was told long ago to not put red food coloring into the nectar, bc it stains their bottom making for an unattractive appearance for when it comes to mating 🤭. Don't tell anyone but I do still add a very tiny amount of color to the water, just so I can tell at a distance if the nectar is getting low. (super faint!) No idea if beet juice or red zinger tea would be a good substitute and less problematic for stained booties. Worth noting, when we first started feeding hummies years ago, we NEVER saw any stained hineys, and we added a BUNCH of food color thinking it's necessary for drawing the birds to the food.
@@AgendaInMind Also: NEVER USE HONEY IN OR WITH YOUR NECTAR RECIPE!! They require 100% sugar which is immediately converted to Glucose for instant energy. This is the only place avoiding sugar is NOT THE THING TO DO!!
I just moved to West Texas in the desert and last month I heard what I thought was a bumble bee buzzing around my head. When I turned around to see what I thought it was to my surprise it was a hummingbird literally inches from my face. Well maybe about a foot. But I never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would see a hummingbird in the desert. When I made the move from Florida to here I did bring a hummingbird feeder but in the move in got cracked at the top. So I still filled it with sugar water and put it out. That one hummingbird followed me in the house and outside until I hung it up! By the afternoon I had at least 3 hummingbirds. I couldn't believe it. The next couple of days my hummingbird population grew to at least a dozen. But now it's getting colder and I think they have headed south. I still have about 4-5 hanging around and fighting over the new feeder I bought a couple of days after the first one showed up. But they are amazing creatures they come right up to me, look at me chattering when it gets low on food. Who knows what they are saying LOL. I enjoyed your video. I think I'm going to make some like u did and maybe a solar fountain. Thanks 👍!!!

Just moved into a new house, in a new area, and we had a hummingbird stopping by every morning. I just put up a sugar water feeder, and now the hummingbird is here most of the day. I'm pretty sure that I saw 2 of them yesterday. I am so excited to hear that we may get even more! We also have plants and will have a vegetable garden in the next week or so. They are such amazing little creatures. I am going to set up a bird bath for them as well.
This story made me smile so much. I absolutely love hummingbirds, and I hope to have a property like this someday so that I can give back to nature and help feed these wonderful birds. May the Creator bless and keep you and your husband and allow you to continue this work for many years to come.
I throughly enjoyed your video Mrs Robby! Great video, I smiled the whole time. I couldn’t believe that mama had 4 nest! Wow. I have two humming bird feeders because of you and purchased a solar fountain . The birds have not bathed in it yet , I’ll keep trying . My feeders never go dry for about a year and half now! Love you guys
You may need to move the fountain and try another place, but it also depends on how long your fountain was set up. Remember, we too started with only one birds, THANK YOU so much, take care, Robbie
Love your story. We called it "Hummingbird Bath House" because a hummer taught me what he liked to bathe in...a fine spray from my garden hose while I was watering. So I set up a fine spray and had 400 hummers and 6 species. Wow...what a mother!
I am thinking that too, many of the youngsters would nest in this area, that would make sense, why not, they know there is food and lots of places for them to nest, so I am with you on that, thanks, Robbie

Robbie, when I first started watching your videos around the time c19 started and it was hummingbird videos, then I saw your gardening ones! Just love them all! Some days if I'm feeling down and lonely I find one of your videos and always cheers me up! Thanks so much!
Hey, I'm from Kuwait. This is such an awesome find! Videos like this and the incredible comments from some people are really inspiring. Big thanks to this lady and all of you. 🇰🇼
That's the sweetest story I've heard in a while! I have 2 feeders out, and hummingbirds are the most fascinating creatures! I love how they hover and cock their heads looking you right in the eye! I love them. They are often spiritual messengers, stopping to remind me to stay positive! It's great to see you have so many subscribers. No wonder! Thanks for the post ~♡
I went from 1 humby to 4 or 5 in the past couple months. I wasn't filling the feeder reliably but one day a female ruby confronted me in the Garden about the empty feeder, even came to my windows clearly looking for me after the lecture in the Garden, so I put out several more feeders. Now they come when I call and I swear they never go farther than a 30 second flight from me because they always buzz past me or perch when I call them. I got a mantis off their favorite "secret" feeder 2 days ago after my kids saw them fighting the mantis (not a big one) and I got a big show of gratitude for that. Lots of twirling and chirping and perching.
I knew... you leave the Christmas lights up.... so they can huddle near them year round for warmth. Thank you for showing that the Rufous Mama...build one of her nest around one of the Christmas bulbs. That is one brilliant mama hummingbird... AMAZING!. I think the key to having an up close and personal encounter with any birds.... is consistency in interest in your yard... ( offering food, water, and YOU). The more you become a daily familiar "feature" in your yard... the more comfortable they are with you being there too. The baby Gold Finches are adorable.
I just love love love your videos. You live in a magical land of hummers and im so jealous. They obviously love you and Gary. Thanks for sharing your passion with all of us. You are a beautiful soul with a kind, caring heart. Keep them coming!

I live in Southern Indiana and I have at least 5 hummingbirds, 2 who definitely never leave my yard until migration. And they come when I call them. They are hard to spot if you aren't looking very intently and haven't learned their patterns, they look like insects buzzing past! We have tons of hummers in Indiana, don't worry
Hi Robbie I’m gonna start calling you the Hummingbird Queen LOL!!! I just love your videos. I bet you spend several hours a day just making the sugar water. It’s amazing how they can build the nest on the narrow pole!!! Take care and thank you for the beautiful videos. Your friend from Michigan. JoAnn 🐝🦋🐝
Hi JoAnn, Almost hours, even now I have to refill before the sun goes down, they do keep me very busy. They are amazing little birds, THANK YOU so much, take care, Robbie
Wow...that's so awesome everything that you do for these beautiful birds and especially to the mama hummingbird that didn't want to waste any energy going back and forth from her babies to the feeders!
I live in Central Florida, and I've only seen one hummingbird here in three years. He was the biggest hummingbird I'd ever seen! I had about six blooming orchids on a windowsill and he patiently went down the line and drank from each one. It was quite a sight. I can't imagine THOUSANDS. 😮
So to say the the hummingbird is your spirit animal is on point! I love hummingbirds & have to tell you that I am in awe of how many nests she built!! Thats insane to me & just think, we get tired working our jobs & meanwhile this little mama had more than 1 nest at a time with hatched and unhatched babies! Thats incredible I am just blown away by the fortitude of the mom & just how clever she is as well! Multi tasking on a whole new level!💐🌺🐣🐦🌸
Thank you for doing what you do and sharing it with us. What a dream! I hope bird scientists and hummingbird conservationist give you credit for your contribution to the survival of these creatures. Your video helped with my anxiety and depression too. Thank you.
Add another feeder. The more feeders you have the more you will attract. I start out with one feeder when they start showing up in the spring...Then I add another and another and that attracts more birds. With each feeder I put out, more and more birds start showing up...... In years past I’ve had as many as 8 feeders and the traffic was unbelievable ....i was going through a half gallon of food a day...this year I have four feeders and I also only fill my feeders enough to last that day so they have fresh food at all times.....It’s very hot and humid here and it doesn’t take long for the sugar water to start turning into a brew for the all drinkers and brawlers. Lol.
Wow your voice is so lovely, i loved the way you talk about hummingbirds. There must be enough food so she can raise 4 nests. Can you name a couple of species? I live far away and our hummingbird species are different
You ARE blessed! Wonderful video. I especially love how you are using your creativity to come up with various ways to feed and care for the birds. Thank you for posting.
I am so amazed by you and the beautiful habitat you created for them! As of last year I finally have my very own outdoor space and I was lucky enough to meet my first hummingbirds! I was instantly in love. Every morning the same one would be perching on the back porch, I really think she was waiting to hear the coffee pot because then shed come up to the feeder. Every morning. We had many and this year theyre back! But back to this: I am so inspired by this! I enjoy them somuch too. I cant imagine having them come into the kitchen that is truly a dream. Theyre magical creatures. Thankyou for this, some new facts, and all the work youve put into this!
Wow what a lovely video, I live in the uk and we don't have hummingbirds, I've been watching some of your other videos and am now adding more plants, feeders and birdbaths with the hope it will attract more birds to my garden. Thankyou so much for sharing your wonderful hummingbirds with us, they are magical 😊💖🐦🐥🐤🐣🐥🐦🐥🐦🐤🐣🐦🐥🐣🐤🐦XX

I spent some time in upstate New York and we started putting out hummingbird feeders and within a couple days we had a dozen hummingbirds and they land on your fingers and look at you. They're the most wonderful birds it's really amazing. They're my favorite!
That mama bird and her nest on the hook are probably the cutest thing I've ever seen!
You are so clever Robbie, thank you for sharing!

So sweet
Hey, I'm from Kuwait. This is such an awesome find! Videos like this and the incredible comments from some people are really inspiring. Big thanks to this lady and all of you. 🇰🇼
That's the sweetest story I've heard in a while! I have 2 feeders out, and hummingbirds are the most fascinating creatures! I love how they hover and cock their heads looking you right in the eye! I love them. They are often spiritual
messengers, stopping to remind me to stay positive!
It's great to see you have so many subscribers. No wonder! Thanks for the
post ~♡
Oh my goodness! This is adorable! Love love love ❤️
THANK YOU so much, take care, Robbie
I’m from Ukraine, never saw one, till I moved to UAE. They are so cute!❤ bless u for making their life easy❤❤❤
That hummingbird is mom of the year.
This is INCREDIBLE and soooo aspirational! Just made my day!
Each year the local birds become now more and more tame, so fun, THANK YOU so much, take care, Robbie
We have 4 that hang around most the day. I can't imagine how cool your place is!!!
Thank you for sharing!!
It is SO busy here all day, and now we have even more birds here too, visiting Orioles, drinking daily by the dozens, take care, thanks, Robbie

So great and cool of you! The birds will love it, and it is just too fun, THANK YOU so much, take care, Robbie
I am in shock and awe, I can’t believe it. I live in Indiana and I am lucky if I see one hummingbird. I love the birds, all birds . Your video put a smile on my face, a big smile. That is truly amazing, God bless you and your husband.
God bless you for your heart and sharing your joy🙏❤️
THANK YOU so much, take care, Robbie
That’s quite amazing and a real responsibility taking care of so many little birds. It’s inspirational to watch!
You have a great husband. And that hummingbird mom, amazing!
Thank you so much!
The hummingbird stories you tell are just wonderful.
Thank you for highlighting my comment. I just love your blog.
I so envy in a good way, I wish that they come to my house..I will enjoy them all day..love the hummingbird..:-)))
You are amazing!! Also very blessed to have so much beauty around. Thank you sooo much for sharing such wonders with us!!! ♥️🥰😘
Thank you so much for loving the hummers ❤ if everything you love is in Heaven then there will be thousands of humming birds there!
You have been such an inspiration to me! ❤️
Ur blessed. I put my first feeder out yesterday. Got my first bird today. I have never been so excited!!!!!
Thank you.
I love this lady
I have had the same three hummingbirds for the last 5 years. I wish more would come!
Hmmm if you build it they come.
Lol.
What a brilliant, feel good video! Enjoyed your story so much, thank you for sharing your happy experience with the birds in your garden 💐
Our pleasure! Just love these little precious birds, thanks, Robbie
How beautiful and magical your garden is! I know you get great joy from these enchanting, fairy-like creatures!
I live in Southern California, I have several species of plants in my backyard that attract humming birds. They nest in my tree, i love them all.
Wow your voice is so lovely, i loved the way you talk about hummingbirds. There must be enough food so she can raise 4 nests. Can you name a couple of species? I live far away and our hummingbird species are different
I made this video on all the species I have in our yard here, thanks so much, Robbie ruclips.net/video/4Fb0gUTjIeY/видео.html
This is what you call a blissful and peaceful lifestyle. I love this so much. You are truly blessed
What an enchanting hummingbird garden filled with beautiful feathered friends! Sending love and warm greetings from Missouri.
I never would have thought they would have multiple nests in one season - fascinating that you were able to witness that.
They had an ample food source nearby so that’s why they will have multiple nests.
Flowers and water really brings them all in to stay close by, Thank you so much, Robbie
I love this and your videos. I am just starting my hummingbird garden with two feeders. I believe to have about 4-6 birds right now. Thank you for all of the ideas and tips!
We LOVE our hummingbirds here in LA!! We just have an apartment balcony with one feeder and a lot of plants they like but it’s still a little bit of heaven from us. Thank you for sharing this!
What you have going on is just brilliant! Things are not so easy here in Asheville, NC as I struggle to get more than two pairs. I even have up to 20 feeders and it's still tough. Please keep it up as you are responsible for so many more birds. Kudos.
I plan on it and adding in more flowers too, thanks ❤️
I love your hummingbirds, they are so precious. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️
