In a case like that carb, I stick it into my mix, in my ultrasonic cleaner and run it through 2 30 minutes runs, and the heat unsticks the needle from the seat.

I recently picked up a 16 year old Craftsman that has only been used once or twice. I acquired it in my sleep, lol. It's amazing how I just seemed to acquire things once people found out I worked on small engines. The story I got was that the original owner bought it, overfilled it with oil, used it til it quit running, and then parked it and never touched it again. Her grandson gave it to my brother, and he gave it to me. The carb and muffler were full of oil and it was drastically overfilled, but it is running great now after a carb cleaning and dumping some of the oil out. I don't know what I am going to do with it. It seems like a crime to tear it up now. I kinda feel like I have to preserve it since it is in such good condition.

I like those Powermore / Loncin / Rato or whatever they’re called engines, they’re easy to service and run pretty darn well. Very hard to impossible to get internal parts, though.

I finally defeated the '98 GCV160 from hell. It had been sitting for years with no air box. I managed to get it running again, but it would only run well fully choked, even after replacing nearly the entire fuel system. I have been working on it on and off for two and a half years. I finally got it back to the owner today. I ended up being the little plastic insulator that sits between the heat deflector and the engine. It was warped, and was causing an air leak. I got so frustrated that I started firing the parts cannon at it, and the one part I never thought to replace wound up being the problem. At least I got that damn thing out of my shop. I was sick of looking at it. I lost a good bit of money on that deal, but I can't overcharge someone when I have a machine that long. I have spent more time on that machine than I have on the 14 that I currently own combined, and that includes a riding mower that I built from scratch. I will never work on a Honda again

I thought the same thing when I first worked on this engine. It looks like you don't have to take the cover off, but then there is no way to disconnect it.

I will say the powermore engines are better then the Loncin engines. nice job there. also yah I would return it dry unless they were going to use the mower . not many ppl mowing in December. my last mow was a week ago. to clean up some leaves.

They're both a Chinese engine. In fact, probably the same ones just with a different name label on it. You don't really see them anymore because of AD/CVD. I could be wrong, but I believe "Powermore" was just the MTD branded engine name. Usually, they have a stamped "engine model" on the block or a sticker (usually some version of a 1P65FE or similar format).

Powermore won't crank? What else is new? I have only come across two Powermores since I started working on small engines. I have only had two machines with engine issues since I started working on small engines. Guess which two they were.

I have an older version of this model with the same engine. That is the goofiest carb setup I have ever seen.
