Yes, I would like a comparison video for old vs new face molds! Not just the classic mold but for Josefina, Sonali, Jess, Joss and whoever else’s face mold has changed.

i have a theory about the narrow faces. okay stay with me. For years i've heard people say american girl dolls look young, like their faces look like toddlers. My daughter is 10, her and her friend don't like baby dolls and toddler dolls, the think of them as for babies. Alot of companies market them that way now, babies and toddlers for babies and toddlers, instead of just all dolls for any girl. My theory is in trying to keep the interest of the older girls AG was always for, they're slimming the faces and trimming the "baby fat" to make the dolls look older and less babyish. As far as darker dolls selling, I have always believed if AG would give dark dolls the same beautiful detailed things, thought out collections and promotion, then they'd sell fine. But every dark doll after addy got the bare minimum and became a self fulfiling prophecy

Ok this actually makes sense on why they possibly have made the dolls faces skinnier but I love the chubby faces and in my eyes have never viewed them as toddler like or childish. I know they’re supposed to represent 9 year olds but it must be the nostalgia of them having those chubby faces of when I discovered ag dolls

I recently got a first edition Josefina and it's WILD putting her side by side with Blaire, my newest Josefina mould. And she was 2019, now they're even narrower!

My store in Northern California closed. It took two month to get a refund on an online order. I will think twice about buying online and returning.

I love these dolls! The Josefina mold is gorgeous! I’m going to purchase all 3 of the Josefina mold. I’m glad that we have Evette as as Evette and not 127.
    Evette is gorgeous.
Now 127 looks gorgeous too and I can’t wait to get her.

And also I feel like American girl is trying to add face paint due to people ooaking the dolls theirselves and it’s not it for me like the fake lashes ain’t doing it for me I’d rather just have a regular American girl face

People in the AG community are really harsh to Mattel. The whole nonsense of saying Mattel doesn't think non-white dolls will sell as well as white dolls. No. Mattel KNOWS that the non-white dolls will not sell as well as the white dolls. Yet, Mattel makes a lot of non-white dolls in AG and other lines. Collectors are still so mean to them. I worked at Toys R Us for years. We had the AG section. I talked to the Mattel rep a lot when I saw her. The main group of people buying AG dolls are middle class to upper middle class white women and their daughters. We constantly were having trouble keeping white dolls in stock. White dolls sell better because the main audience is white people. Mattel is desperately trying to get non-white people to buy more dolls. But if you have collectors constantly dissing the company who is doing WAY better at diversity than most other 18 doll lines (if not better than all of them), what do you think is going to happen? The collectors are giving the line a bad rep because the collectors are base-lessly accusing Mattel of racism. It's the most ridiculous strategy I've ever seen. Instead of praising them for doing a good job, collectors keep bashing them. Most of that is that people online have this weird thing where they think it's socially acceptable to constantly complain when they see white people anywhere. Including in a shade of a plastic on a shelf. The Lila fit pitching was crazy. They had just done an Indian American doll. They had just done a Chinese American doll. People were ticked for Italian American? Some were saying she wasn't really Italian since she was too white. That's ridiculous. Italians in the north are pale-skinned.
There is no shame in Mattel trying to turn a profit. If that means they thought they should represent mixed race girls who have a lighter shade of skin, then they made a mixed race girl doll with lighter skin. It's a dyed plastic. It's not a big deal.
    Bottom line:
    1. White people buy AG dolls more than any other group.
    2. Caucasian people have more phenotypes in terms of combinations of hair color and eye color. More likely to have freckles too. Like every race, they have a skin tone range. White people also can naturally have straight, wavy, or curly hair. This makes it really easy to take these combos and make more unique dolls. That's just how it is naturally. It has to do with a lack of melanin. That is not Mattel's fault. It's not white people's fault.
    3. From what I've noticed in online groups (not saying you), the people who whine the most about this tend to have very few non-white dolls. Even though there are so many non-white dolls.
That's why a lot of it is social media peacocking. It's saying what people think they should say instead of what they believe.
I'll stick by Mattel. They do a good job of representing many people. Would be nice if they would call Christmas clothing Christmas instead of holiday. They certainly don't do that to other holidays. No, I don't consider Christmas to be a white person's holiday. It's multicultural. That's more a socially acceptable to ignore or slight Christians than it is the race thing.
I'll get hate for this. Whatever. I'm just over the whole "Mattel only ever cares about white people" argument when literally the doll on screen isn't white.

Thank you so much for your awesome input. I agree with you on literally every point.
AG does a great job on diversity and people complain anyways.
      You erre definitely on point.
      Thank you again.

They intentionally underrepresent their dolls of color constantly. They also overshadow them constantly. If you don't see it, you need to work on your observation skills. It's clear that you're uninformed about the subject and need to do some basic research into how they're doing so.

My favorite is 127 by far. I didn’t get Evette, but I think 127 is even cuter than Evette and reminds what the illustration of Evette was gonna look like.

Truly me 127 would have looked like so many more girls if she had brown eyes. They absolutely are allergic to brown eyes it’s a shame.

The skinny classic mold isn’t doing it for me that’s why I’m just gonna go ahead and keep buying second hand pc American girls and ooaking them

I hate the new doll molds much. They made their eyes way too big and with painted on lashes. They just aren’t very cute to me anymore

Very disappointed. Before the release, I wrote a wishlist to see how close I'd come to their knew releases. Big 0. Wanted a boy...red hair, freckles was my first choice . Wanted bangs on at least 2. Zero again. Wanted short hair like the PC Kit,any color. Nope. The eye quality over the last few years...terrible. My store is closing and Orlando vacation is not happening for us. Therefore, no new dolls for me. Can't trust pulling one off the shelf and liking what I get. Going for older dolls. At least eBay, you have a "slight" idea of what you are getting.
