WHITE RIM TRAIL UTAH | Overlanding / Camping / Off Roading Adventure | Part 2/4: To First Camp

We are underway on this episode and Levi and I could hardly be mentally prepared for the scenery that was in store! We get settled in to our first camp, and cook up a proper dinner on the wood burning Pomoly titanium stove!

That stove is pretty sweet. I also bought the ARB awning for my white rim trip as I didn't want to worry about how to stake down the Springbar. It is a pain the first couple of times, but eventually you can get to the point you can set it up and take it down in a reasonable amount of time (still no roof top tent, but I love keeping the rack space available for other gear!).

Exactly! I can’t have a tent on top. I’d have a tent on an adventure trailer and that would be perfect! But not on my truck. I ran one up there for a few months, it was fun. I’ve ran this awning tent for about 5 years now, I can get it up and down as fast as anyone, it’s just when going to the work to get the stove setup, chopping wood, the whole process is far more involved. But you can’t beat a hot tent and this is the best solution I’ve found for cooler camps! 🙌🏻

I drove up the Shafer Trail in the snow once a long time ago, probably 20+ years, before it was closed in the winter. It was exciting the say the least.

Thanks! 2.5-3” Old Man Emu Heavy Suspension. 315/75R16’s. Basically 35” tires. They do pretty good! 🙌🏻
