Very enlightening indeed! Thank you for posting this. I knew it had Zoroastrian roots, but wasn't aware of the Mithra connection! You have much wisdom and knowledge!
I believe that the halo concept represents consciousness, the 3 connections with in our self Hart, mind and consciousness must be one, by achieving this you shine God's light through you to the world.
The reason why Moses is sometimes portrayed with horns and sometimes with rays of light is that the Hebrew root q-r-n can be translated both as a horn and as a ray (of light). The correct interpretation is still a matter of discussion among academics.
Interesting! As you correctly mentioned, Halo derives from the Hellenic term άλως - pronounced as álos. This is a solar phenomenon! If you try to see the Sun (you won’t be able to see much but) you kinda can see the white ball and around it a circle of light. This circle was called àlos in Hellenic. Apollo had a halo with solar beams and a depiction of Apollo was the inspiration for the French people to make the Statue of Liberty! In Orthodoxy we don’t have square halos, this must be Catholic! The halo of Christ has the symbol of the Cross reminding us his sacrifice on the cross! The triangular halo symbolises the Holy Trinity and the letters in Christ’s halo are these: Ο ΩΝ, there are two words. The article Ο meaning THE, and the past participle ΩΝ meaning EXISTING. So, Christ is the existing one, the God that really exists!
You have a fantastic channel. Keep doing what you're doing. It won't be long and you'll be soaring in veiws & subscribers. There's alot of skill and talent here 🙌 I believe in you!
Thank you Whitley! Did you see your cup finally found its way into the Gospel of Thomas video? Thank you so much for that cup by the way. I use it all the time!
Very "enlightening" lol I remember reading about Moses coming down off the mount. I interpreted as a sunburn. I didn't think of it as a Halo or transfiguration! lol but it all makes sense. I thank you for your research. I enjoyed watching your videos and Religion for Breakfast.
I appreciate that very much Michael Frei! I also interpreted it as a sunburn, and I think there is good evidence to suggest that the sunburn that ancient people inevitably got while on top of mountains was viewed as a sign that they were getting closer to the divine realm! Thank you for your kind words Michael! Peace to you!
I actually looked into this myself this past year, too bad it took me so long to see this video. I believe from my own personal experience; halos are based on a real phenomenon. I believe they are a result from the increased neuroplasticity and massive amounts of serotonin that are present after a "mystical" experience. I described it as feeling that I had a cloud or aura of energy around my head, (two terms used by the ancients, nimbus means cloud). In contrast I describe having a high fever as feeling like I have a cloud or aura of heat around my head.
What about a halo the looks like light blue lighting coming off the halo. I saw that at my job right after praying close to the ceiling which is 8 feet high.
There are still persons with halo. We have seen many Hindu sages( not seeking publicity like the modern fake hermits) and also Priests with Holy halo.Their sermons would have a deep resonance penetrating through the soul with goosebumps. Whether there is connection between an English man & the " Nirvana " T shirt., certainly there is a connection between it and the video's subject.Attaining nirvana ( nudity) is enlightenment., which is the sign of halo.Buddha says " Desires leades to destruction ". It means all the worldly pleasures must wither off from our soul. It is the main preaching of Lord.Buddha.The nude statue of Lord.Buddha is worshipped by Buddists at Saravanabelagula. Nirvana is a Tamil word meaning nudity.
great, but don't know if Akhnaton (for calling out the sun-disc the one and only god)if not related in any way to the Mesopotamian influence could be mentioned here.
Actually the horns that Moses wears and some statute is a literal translation of the Hebrew word that properly should have been properly translated as rays
Auras are visible to some people. They're not as big a mystery as they're being made out to be. People/living things have an electromagnetic field. I have seen field distortions around people that resemble the heat distortion above a hot car motor. If I can see them, they can't be that mysterious.
Mine is the golden ring type that floats over my head and glows. Fortunately it is water resistant so I can take showers. My wife makes me cover it in bed so she can sleep, but it is great for illuminating the path to the bathroom at night.
You are a perfect example of don't judge a book by its cover you have a Nirvana shirt on but teaching the Bible the word of God that's pretty cool thanks brother
That's the "crown" of the saints and martyrs, related to the book of Revelations. Its not divinity from the people themselves, but holiness. The concept of holiness is essentialy "be saint like Father in heaven is", is a continuous pursue, dependant on God's grace, not merit of creatures themselves. You have 2 extraordinaries examples: -Mary having crown of 12 stars around her head, sometimes represented by a literal crown in icons, estatues, to share importance of the womb that give encarnation of God's son, despite she being only creature. -Jesus have crown, sometimes a halo with 3 traces, to symbolize the number 3, Trinity. We see iconography of Jesus, but at same time, 3 persons in some same image. You only see a man, but there are 3 persons, the halo with 3 traces explain that. That's limitation of human comprehention, known as mystery of the Holy Trinity, One God being 3 persons, being of same essence, not 3 different natures (which would conclude 3 gods wrongly). The halo from crhistinity, in resume, its a simplification of "crown", for those who attain or are attaining heaven, with God that is Jesus (Son), Father and Holy Spirit. If someone, in same picture, doesnt have halo, its rather a commoner who still didnt have shown proof of holiness or is someone that would never attain it (but hell), an example, many paintings about "the last supper", everyone has halo, except one. This is is always Judas Scariot, the traitor that commited S**cide when his own plans failed.
Revelation 3:11 - I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. ( jesus explains his reward is a crown of life). And the thing that brings life to the earth is light and the sun. Therefore a crown of life means the same as a crown of light. Interestingly enough jesus christ is called the bright morning star in revelation.
The halo is a representation of the active crown chakra
Thanks for the comment Corey! I'll have to look more into that!

The thousand petal lotus from Buddhism too

Mine looks weird.
I always figured the halo was, essentially, the lightbulb over the head, long before the lightbulb was invented...

🗣️
I love it! That's a great theory! 😊
@@ReligiosityPlus thank you, kindly.
It's when God lights up your crown chakra it connects you too everything and too the cosmos. Holy Spirit or Kundalini awakening which ever .

That's different it just that having a random glowing cricle over your head

Probably inspired by the helmets on the angels or aliens.

He's not teaching the word of God, he's a religious scholar.
@jeffchilders236 he a religious scholar not a pastor or Christian theologian
