- Fly fishing is more than a sport, it's a lifestyle. And for some it's not just a lifestyle, it's a life saver. Every year a small group of fly fishers descend on Paradise Valley and Livingston Montana to learn and hone their craft. The trout fishing in Montana is like no where else on the planet. We went to Livingston to capture that fishing, but we found a more powerful story. A connection between the people that fly fish and the healing that fly fishing brings. This is a short film we made about the love for fly fishing and the common bonds in the sport that tie people together.

I have a question about the color grade used. Was it a preset or applied manually? Awesome video, really well thought out shots. Any tips on collaborating with other fishermen/film guys? I'm a one man production team, and things can get pretty crazy trying to play fisherman, videographer, net man, etc
@@JakeHinds Hey Jake, I applied it manually. I am not a fan of LUTS. I wasn't really a fan of my color grading either for a long time, and it's still not the best. But if you stick with it I believe you'll develop a unique look that for better or worse is yours. I'm trying to film myself Tenkara fishing and f*** thats tough. Come up to Idaho this summer we can backpack to a mountain lake and film each other fishing.

Just wanted to thank Chris Gerono for helping my son and daughter catch their first cutthroat on the Yellowstone river. You didn’t have to help we were just there trying our luck. We appreciate the time you spent with him and the flies you tied on. We ended up catching about 10 total that day! I believe both of the kids are hooked on fly fishing from here on out. Also thank you for mentioning this video.

Ennis MT resident here, yes, fly fishing is a way of life, Paradise Valley, Madison Valley, some of THE best fisheries. I have fly fished in Australia, lived there for 36 years, New Zealand, Austria, all are awesome, but it is really hard to beat SW MT!!
It would be awesome to fly fish in Australia that would be epic!
@@JonConti it is an amazing fly fishery, I learned fly fishing there nearly 30 years ago now. So is Tasmania, that is where the first trout were introduced to Australia.

It’s not a lodge with a guide or staff. Guides rent the lodge and run trips out of it, but they provide their own crew. Chris Gerono the guide in the video knows a lot more about it than I do if you want to set something up with him or just get more info you can give him a call. +1 (406) 223-4900 he’s great, really easy to talk too.
