I had a lvl 1 flametal armor, lvl 2 Thundering Berserkir axes, Bonemass and Barley Vine, 2 health and 1 stamina foods. Some health and stamina potions if you are in a hurry. And I pretty much just clicked him to death. The only thing I had to avoid were those spikes since the fire damage they do still melts through the armor resist and the vine resist. All the melee attacks missed 75% of the time or the damage they were dealing was neglectable. Biggest problem I got was the constant random spawn coming to fight me and I had to kite them around till they die of fire. Man , I hate those ashland spawns.
I ran with 1 friend through the whole of Ashlands and we actually found Fader the easiest part. Lord Rito was way harder and even some of the adds. We went into Fader blind and just wung it and no death cleared it the first time. Bonemass and flame res potion lasted the whole fight and we didnt really need anything else.
We both ran melee with fully upgrade flametal armor, root chest, and fully upgraded lightning weapons. He has multiple hit boxes that the lightning will jump through so def go all out dps here. I was able to parry with Thunder Axes so you dont need to be too concerned with his melee attacks. Towards the end having a bow or ranged attack was helpful as he just kept spamming the fire to keep us away
While they did "hot fix" it, you can still still cheese the fight if you find a full arena. Still stay as far back as you can, but as the trolls die run up, respawn them, and run away. Because he'll stay stuck in the arena he wont be able to chase you. Just rotate around the Arena so the walls don't get too damaged by the trolls.

Yea, the staff of wild with the askwin set and cape was how I did it first try. Just kite him. He kills his minions by himself.
