Great info and just what i needed. My example has five years on it and gets warm in use. i thought it was going out and i've been looking to put a greaseable head on it. Thanks for saving me money
I personally don't really like to remove guards. It burns them up over time. 1 extra inch of string than recommended is equivalent to about 20 extra degrees on the engine. On the 4 mix engines it causes the cam lobe to melt. And on the 2 strokes ive seen it just slowly kill them over time. Wouldn't believe how much money it'll cost over a cheap plastic guard.
@@hotwheelsracer6380 most expensive part of blowing a can gear out of these fs 110s or similar models is literally the tube of red RTV it’s not that big of a deal. It’s a brushcutter it’s gonna get hot. 😂
Does this get greese into the gearbox ring and pinion gear? Or does it just grease the drive shaft, gear box square connecting point hole? Does that hole give you access to the gear box?
I don't think it does. I looked at mine and it seems that it is sealed and the grease cannot get into the gear head properly. I dn what to do. Maybe drilling a hole in the gear head and fitting a greaser head...
@@optiplexpavel haha, I had a feeling this squirting grease down the shaft thing was a scam... I hate having to reengineer everything.... here because they saved 6 cents on a little bolt...
@@motoxerdad No! It actually does get in there. If you shine a light and look real close down in there you can see the inside of the actual gearbox. I figured this out on my own experimenting with it. Greased it and it quieted my whining gearbox down.
I believe the echo SRM 225 model, after 50 operating hours, recommends you also Grease the flexible cable inside the shaft. is that a requirement for Stihl as well?
@@webberalex9533 Some weed eaters have a cable that runs the length of the weed eater shaft to your weed eater head that requires grease. Hope this helps?
I can't get the 2nd screw off. My drill won't even remove it. Tried some wd40. Now it's kinda stripped, any recs for how to loosen this? Seems like it's freaking welded on or something.
Thanks for the support man this is how RUclips should be. You left a good comment while also stating what I could have done better. I'm not used to making videos of this type so I do need practice. Thanks!
Thanks I was surprised to not see a grease plug on the side like every other trimmer, Stihl is slipping.
Thank you I couldn't find this anywhere.

Hey Hot Wheels Racer...just what I needed to know. Short and to the point. Thanks.
@@robertbeck7792 No problem Robert!
Thanks for the tip. Here’s another tip, remove the guard and put it way, second tip, but an Echo Speed Feed 400 head on and you’re golden. 👍

Anyone thought about tapping a hole in the side and adding a zerk fitting?
Yes but you’re very keen because I thought that was pretty advanced thinking when I saw someone do that recently.
@@clevernamehere7559 if you have info on where to drill, please post.
Thank you so much for making this brother. It was a huge help
Thanks was helpful had Done the same but wasn't sure if it was right Thanks for the info
Helpful video - Thanks!
Can’t you drill out the side and tap it. Then just put in a bolt with a washer?
I wouldn't risk it.
super helpfull !!!!!!Thanks
Just buy a echo and you can grease it from outside ❤❤😊😊😊
Best brand now
thanks man. how often do you think this needs done?
Once a year

What cable in the shaft?

No idea
Best answer i got for ya is to drill it out and re tap it
Vice Grips to break it loose, my impact wouldn't do it either, and i didn't want to break my bit or strip it.
I don’t know what to do after I greased it and tightened the gearbox and the guard the gearbox kept spinning how do I fix that
Its gotta be pretty tight
maybe Stihl think some model are too "domestic" and wont be used too much.
Hi, what kind of grease do you used ? Thanks
I used lucus red-n-tacky. Thanks for watching
@@hotwheelsracer6380 Thanks a lot...greetings from SPAIN
