Lyrically it’s easily her best work and vocally, sonically, melodically just so good. Lana does concept albums really well and NFR! manages to be the best concept bc it’s not only genius but it’s also not reliant on the concept to be an enjoyable album (whereas with albums like UV & HM you really have to follow the concept to “get” the music and the flow as a whole). norman fucking rockwell is my most replayed album of all times. i cant count the amount of hours i've spent on the beach, listening to venice bitch or the greatest on repeat, just closing my eyes and enjoying lana's angelic voice without never get tired of it. i think it's her best and most mature piece of work so far. i remember not liking it at first, thinking that all the songs sounded the same. i just kept using it as a background music when i was reading books (just because lana's sweet voice fitted well the late night reading sessions) and then it kept growing on me and it became my all time favorite. when it sounds at first like a chill record, that you can jam to or use as a background music it is actually a result of hard work and well-thought composition of music where every element of the instrumentation is so precisely researched and well paced in the song, in resonance with lana's beautiful voice and great, mature writing. it's an album that is so perfect to listen as a whole and you have to let yourself getting transported by the eerie, dreamy vibe of it to enjoy the experience even more. so thanks for reacting to my favorite record and giving an honest, spotaneous reaction to it, as always :) if you guys like rock music (which i think you do), i recommend you to listen to ultraviolence, another masterpiece of lana with heavy instrumentation, lots of basses, and a very assumed excentric style. you're on point here because she did described nfr as a mood album, the kind of album you would put it in the background while doing house chores or something you would listen to while having long walks on the beach
Venice B is my favorite song of all time. When the beat drops, it literally gives me chills every single time. It’s such a masterpiece and I find it underrated. It just doesn’t seem long enough lol. It makes me cry every time
Lana voice just hits different, there is something very unique about her and that's what you want in a singer, all her albums are top tier for me. Loving the pink nails btw.
i think they may have missed the mark a little bit regarding track 9, california. her lines of seeming uncertainty is her covering up how much she is truly is longing for him coming back. she’s trying to seem nonchalant about it by saying things like “you should just hit me up” but her desperation reveals itself shortly after in lines like “we’ll do whatever you want, travel wherever” and “your favorite liquor off the top shelf, we’ll have a party all night long”. she’s TRYing not to cling. but she wants him back badly. and this is what makes the track so interesting. it has depth that isn’t blatantly sung; it’s realized by the listener in it’s time if it is
The depth is also revealing in the metaphorical meaning of him coming back: out of his blues, coming back to california means getting over his struggles and Depression and Just having a good time again together. But she knows this will Not happen
this chanel is honestly my safe place. it's just so comforting to see these two nice men talk about your fav artists. no negativity, just comfy vibes and music. also love the father-son relationship they have
Lana actually has a cover of the old summertime song too! It's called summertime the Gershwin version and it's soooo good I love it. You guys should give it a chance
'Chemtrails Over the Country Club' and 'Blue Bannisters' are both worth reacting to, especially if you like her going into a higher register. Clever writer too. A lot of tasteful references to other artists' songs.
im blown away that the dad perfectly read what kind of aesthetic lana puts out bc she literally references so many of the things that she has in her earlier music. like i desperately need them to listen to her other albums in order.
NO I ACTUALLY JUST YELLED FOR JOY WHEN I SAW U GUYS ARE DOING LANA IM ACTUALLY GOING TO CRY!!! I love watching your videos so much and she’s my favorite artist so this means so much!!
I'm so jealous 😫 like I wish I could experience this album for the first again. Lana makes me feel like water in fire but not boiling just there ... existing in calm chaos
If you react to another album of hers then would highly recommend Ultraviolence, the songs are darker, sardonic and the guitars/production is gorgeous.
I love watching people fall in love with Lana’s work.. she really is underrated but her body of work is amazing. Born to die, Ultraviolence and Paradise have such a hold on me.. I could listed to those albums on repeat forever.
I listened to this album going to and coming home from work literally every single day for six months straight. It's hypnotic, alluring and most of all nostalgic. Probably my favorite album of all time.
For me, nothing Lana has ever done matches the classiness, the beauty, the depth & the perfection of this album. Every single note is just the right one, where it's supposed to be, evoking this aura of loneliness, romanticism, yearning & the bittersweet memories of lifelong friendships. It would definitely be in my list of top ten best albums of all time. The production & combinations of acoustic guitar, piano & synths, not to mention the stellar lyrics that places the listener inside a story, all add up to one fine CLASSIC album that holds together as a unified whole. The moods are chill ecstasy !!
The album is one that grows on you with repeated listens, it took me about 3 or 4 before I fully appreciated it, the lyricism, the emotions. I also cried at a few of the songs at various times when it hits just right
Great reaction!! So glad your dad liked it!! The greatest definitely grows on you cause it’s so gentle but powerful and the last verse is one of her best lyrics ever “LA’s in flames is getting hot, Kanye West is blond and gone, Life on Mars ain’t just a song” And the album as a whole ages sooo well. I heard it a thousand times front to back and still haven’t gotten tired of it.
My favorite on the album and probably my favorite lana song, it has an old/nostalgic feel to it and when that's juxtaposed with the lyrics describing modern life it just creates a beautiful effect
Re-listening to NFR makes me realize that this is one of my favorites ever. Your dad described it perfectly. There's this uncertainty about her that makes the sound so fascinating and beautiful.
Albums I’d love y’all to review: Melodrama - Lorde Friends that break your heart - James Blake Magdalene - FKA Twigs Renaissance- Beyoncé If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power - Halsey Anti - Rihanna
the whole album sounds like you’re on a boat on the ocean with a slight view of the land and the water just spritzing on your face right before sunset 💚💚
Lana is my absolute favorite. Fabulous writing, Fabulous singing, Fabulous production. Every song feels cinematic and magnificent. Thank you for this video. Love listening to elder's opinion of her :)
No possible fricking way! No shot. Connor I had no idea you listened to Lana, but I've been suggesting & hoping for a Lana reaction for just about over a year now, and to see this come up in my feed, I just feel like I'm dreaming. Thank you for this. You literally made my entire month, if not year. Please make this a Lana series like you did with Ye & go over her entire catalog! Much love & respect to you two
My dad is 72 and loves her music. At times he has compared her music to The Moody Blues, and he loves her jazzy voice. My dad doesn’t like most modern music but he always gets excited when he rides with me and I’m playing Lana in the car.
It’s funny you say that about driving while listening to Venice Bitch because that’s exactly why she wrote that song. She imagined it to be the soundtrack to a chill drive along the coast ❤️
wow the album that changed my life and i listen to almost daily every summer since. gives me so much joy just watching you guys loving the same parts i love. this album is just 'the greatest'
Lana has a very soft, sensitive soul.....she's different in all the best ways. That's why she has such a deep well of emotion to pull from when she makes music. It makes her stand head and shoulders above the rest.
Yeah dude NFR is one of her best. It’s mature, and Lana really showing once again why she is an icon. So many tracks that are amazing but if I had to pick my favorite would probably be Happiness is a Butterfly. Ultraviolence is her rebellious, wild side. Lana is pissed off at something lol amazing album that follows Born to Die so there was a high expectation and she knocked it out of the park. Favorite track probably Brooklyn Baby but it’s a close call, so many good ones on this album. Born to Die is unbeatable IMO, her breakthrough album that put her on the map overnight. Hands down her best work, favorite track probably Radio or Summertime Sadness. Would listen ten times over. Honeymoon is a good album, released very shortly after Ultraviolence. Not a let down per say, but there are a few tracks I would skip. Favorite track is Honeymoon. Lust for Life is okay, a couple tracks I’m not a fan of. Favorite track is White Mustang. Chemtrails Over the Country Club is a fantastic album, Lana has found happiness and it shows in this album. It’s definitely her most uplifting album. The first 5 songs are solid, highly recommend giving it a listen. Favorite track probably Let Me Love Like A Woman or Wild at Heart. Blue Bannisters I haven’t gotten the chance to dive into, so if anyone recommends some tracks off of it let me know!
If you were to listen to Blue Banisters, start with Black Bathing Suit, Thunder, Dealer, Nectar of the Gods and Wildflower Wildfire. These are some of the best tracks of the record. The album is not as rebellious as UV or popular as NFR, but it has its own elements that are appreciable. I didn't like the album much the very first time that I listened to it, but slowly I started to like it. I'd say it's a step up from COCC.
Blue Banisters definitely takes a while to get into. My favorites are probably wildflower wildfire, black bathing suit, if you lie down with me & thunder
Things like Kevin saying “We can take out ‘Fuck you with a fork’ in the edit” and it not getting taken out makes me really wonder what is actually being cut out.
i’m sure it’s been talked about before but what’s your dads musical background? he (you as well) gives me so much insight into things i wouldn’t necessarily listen for in a song and i really appreciate it, you’re both so knowledgeable and passionate about music
This is my favorite album of all time. She aint even in my top 5 all time artists but this album has no skips and is perfect for when you're in that chill calm mood.
I wholeheartedly recommend you guys to do a reaction to her whole released discography as in my opinion, her discography is one of the best musical works that I've heard in modern music and I'm sure that you guys would enjoy every bit of it. If you do decide to do at least one more Lana Del Rey album reaction, I would recommend either Ultraviolence and Born To Die as firsts.
Albums you should make your dad react to Magdalene - fka twigs Lp1 - fka twigs When the pawn- Fiona Apple Sometimes I might be introvert - little simz St Vincent - daddy’s home Titanic rising - weyes blood
She’s genius i see no artist like her nowadays… and the fact that most of the new artist and some pop singers are inspired by her is crazy. She’s unique
Love this review, but to be honest How to Disappear is one of my fav tracks on the album and im sad you found it "not as memorable". Do me, and yourselves a favor and give it another listen! Its really gorgeous, lyrically and compositionally!

i was gonna say its honeymoon and then realized that was 7 years ago... damn it feels like 3
i’m rewatching this and i’m so ready for him to hear Ultraviolence
DYING to see the blue banisters reaction, i think your dad would be surprised by the rough and rispy vocals on Dealer
Exactly
my 77 year old dad is obsessed with Lana, too!! she is pure magic
that's awesome! :)
Off topic, but I really like Connor’s pink nails lol. Also Doin time is a hidden gem
I don’t know about hidden gem, it’s all over TikTok
it's like the most played song on the album dude so much for hidden
@@riversfrank826 oh that’s my bad
mariners apartment complex more like a hidden gem to me
It’s the most popular on nfr so def not hidden
this chanel is honestly my safe place. it's just so comforting to see these two nice men talk about your fav artists. no negativity, just comfy vibes and music. also love the father-son relationship they have
Lana actually has a cover of the old summertime song too! It's called summertime the Gershwin version and it's soooo good I love it. You guys should give it a chance
yes that song is so good and underrated af
@Nes Ally no way! Well you know how Lana is with her non promoting self lol
'Chemtrails Over the Country Club' and 'Blue Bannisters' are both worth reacting to, especially if you like her going into a higher register. Clever writer too. A lot of tasteful references to other artists' songs.
I SECOND THIS ✨
Cola is definitely her most vocally demanding song if you haven’t heard it. Her vocal range is insane
Yes! And God Knows I Tried as well - you can hear the church cantor in her voice.
Or dealer!!!
Nah, I think that by far it would be off to the races
@@katieo.6066 Not even close

I will never forgive the Scammys for not giving the Album of The Year award to the truly AOTY.
THIS VIDEO JUST LITERALLY MADE MY ENTIRE DAY. I've been waiting for LDR reactions!!! thnaks for this
your username is absolutely legendary, two thumbs up 😆😆
@@chrislove5651 😆 thank youuuu
This is her best and most complete album, but Ultraviolence is a must listen to. It’s such ground breaking album imo
So glad you chose this album
im blown away that the dad perfectly read what kind of aesthetic lana puts out bc she literally references so many of the things that she has in her earlier music. like i desperately need them to listen to her other albums in order.
I could listed to those albums on repeat forever.
i have a feeling you would love "honeymoon". probably her most underrated project, with beautiful production and lyrics almost as good as on nfr:)
Honeymoon is not underrated... Adele fckin loved it ffs!
came to comment this, honeymoon is so good
her best
YES honeymooon her best album
Honeymoon is a Masterpiece
I listened to this album going to and coming home from work literally every single day for six months straight. It's hypnotic, alluring and most of all nostalgic. Probably my favorite album of all time.
In Blue Banisters she explores her voice beautifully and she sang in ways I've never heard from her
in Chemtrails too, was just amazing❤️
Normal Fucking Rockwell is my fave lana song, makes me cry every time. This album is so mature, it really feels like she knows who she is
You should definitely do more Lana albums each album is different from the last. Also her album honeymoon is very good but underrated
yess honeymoon is her best
@@c.m.b.7567 *Ultraviolence
@@plasticcrystal8538 third best
Honeymoon has aged well!
I also cried at a few of the songs at various times when it hits just right
LOVING THE NAILS, YOU ABSOLUTE ICON
Ultraviolence by Lana next, I have a feeling yall would love the production
She deserved a Grammy for this absolute masterpiece
Great reaction!! So glad your dad liked it!!
The greatest definitely grows on you cause it’s so gentle but powerful and the last verse is one of her best lyrics ever
“LA’s in flames is getting hot, Kanye West is blond and gone, Life on Mars ain’t just a song”
And the album as a whole ages sooo well. I heard it a thousand times front to back and still haven’t gotten tired of it.
My favorite on the album and probably my favorite lana song, it has an old/nostalgic feel to it and when that's juxtaposed with the lyrics describing modern life it just creates a beautiful effect
@@upturned.jungle9103 exactly!!
Cinnamon girl is so intimate and beautiful. It’s that one song that the more you hear it the more you get really in touch with the music
Re-listening to NFR makes me realize that this is one of my favorites ever. Your dad described it perfectly. There's this uncertainty about her that makes the sound so fascinating and beautiful.
Connor has absolitely impeccable taste in music. Every single video's choice of ablum is a masterpiece.
Albums I’d love y’all to review:
Melodrama - Lorde
Friends that break your heart - James Blake
Magdalene - FKA Twigs
Renaissance- Beyoncé
If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power - Halsey
Anti - Rihanna
Melodrama and Magdalene yes🤞🏻🤞🏻
Magdalene 😳😳😳 That’s an album I’ve NEVER heard sound like anything else…. And I say that in the most positive way possible lol.
Magdalene is such an amazing and unique album I'm on board for that one
Yessss
Melodrama supremacy
the whole album sounds like you’re on a boat on the ocean with a slight view of the land and the water just spritzing on your face right before sunset 💚💚
Lana is my absolute favorite. Fabulous writing, Fabulous singing, Fabulous production. Every song feels cinematic and magnificent. Thank you for this video. Love listening to elder's opinion of her :)
i am subscribing solely because of your dad's description of lana, and her voice, and how amazing everything that she does is.
My dad doesn’t like most modern music but he always gets excited when he rides with me and I’m playing Lana in the car.
i let out a silent scream when i saw this in my feed. so excited !!!! she has such a unique sound
It’s funny you say that about driving while listening to Venice Bitch because that’s exactly why she wrote that song. She imagined it to be the soundtrack to a chill drive along the coast ❤️
31:50 "we should pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars" 😫😫
Man, at this point you already know Ultraviolence is the next album to react
wow the album that changed my life and i listen to almost daily every summer since. gives me so much joy just watching you guys loving the same parts i love. this album is just 'the greatest'
That’s so cool! I always listen to Honeymoon during the cold winter season 😅
I would love Kevin’s reaction to “Dealer” if he loves Lana’s squeaky/high belty vocal range
Watching him do the tapping with his fingers during Venice Bitch instrumental is MEEEEEE! I’ve never seen anyone else do it before omg
This album has not got one bad song on it, it’s a true masterpiece
Norman Rockwell is one of the best albums I've ever listened to! It will forever be in my Top 3.
Definitely one of if not THE greatest album of the 21st century
can never not believe how she didnt get that damn Grammy
this album means a lot to me, it reminds me of a very happy time in my life and brings me so much nostalgia
Your Dads mind will be blown when he hears some of her recent stuff. Man, the last two albums blew me away!
thank you for doing lana del rey! love that you guys are doing different genres
she would love to hear this description about herself (particularly the girl taking you to the secret club then disappearing part)
This is one of those albums that gets better with age.
I'd say it's a step up from COCC.
you are so right i love happiness is a butterfly
@@ashokbabu694 also agreed especially wildflower wildfire and thunder!
Blue Banisters definitely takes a while to get into. My favorites are probably wildflower wildfire, black bathing suit, if you lie down with me & thunder
@@ose5226 b!tch, you're my soulmate ✨
The commentary, the album, this whole video is so slay
Things like Kevin saying “We can take out ‘Fuck you with a fork’ in the edit” and it not getting taken out makes me really wonder what is actually being cut out.
i’m sure it’s been talked about before but what’s your dads musical background? he (you as well) gives me so much insight into things i wouldn’t necessarily listen for in a song and i really appreciate it, you’re both so knowledgeable and passionate about music
Oh my god thank you guys so much for this album, it’s one of my favorite of all time. The way this channel caters to all
Cool name ☺️🤗
This is my favorite album of all time. She aint even in my top 5 all time artists but this album has no skips and is perfect for when you're in that chill calm mood.
this is her best album but y'all need to hear the others, they're perfect together!
I wholeheartedly recommend you guys to do a reaction to her whole released discography as in my opinion, her discography is one of the best musical works that I've heard in modern music and I'm sure that you guys would enjoy every bit of it. If you do decide to do at least one more Lana Del Rey album reaction, I would recommend either Ultraviolence and Born To Die as firsts.
wow! I've a huge hip hop and lana del rey fan and never expected you guys to review this album, so excited!!!
Albums you should make your dad react to
Magdalene - fka twigs
Lp1 - fka twigs
When the pawn- Fiona Apple
Sometimes I might be introvert - little simz
St Vincent - daddy’s home
Titanic rising - weyes blood
She’s genius i see no artist like her nowadays… and the fact that most of the new artist and some pop singers are inspired by her is crazy. She’s unique
Love this review, but to be honest How to Disappear is one of my fav tracks on the album and im sad you found it "not as memorable". Do me, and yourselves a favor and give it another listen! Its really gorgeous, lyrically and compositionally!
I agree! I was super disappointed when they went over that one, that one has always stuck out to me
one of my favs😩😭
