Yes! Such a shift in sound for them that I think really started their evolution to what they are today. So much darker sounding from their older stuff but still all bangers. Dance Little Liar and Secret Door are probably my faves
their progression as a band is super interesting. they transition from album to album similarly how they did between songs like fluorescent and the only ones who know in this album. humbug is like an evolution of that maturity. whereas their first album is all asngst & fuck around energy. this being a perfect blend of the two. they were the biggest band in uk but couldn’t get the U.S base to catch on - but during their tour with the black keys they played a new song & the u.s crowds ate it up. they decided to make an entire album around that song, & boom. AM was born. also, IF you are gonna do another i’d say do them in order from first to last. whatever people say i am that’s what i’m not being my favorite.
This made me strangely emotional. I don't have any friends that like Arctic Monkeys. Seeing your dad get so excited about it gave me a strange sense of vindication. I was so excited to see his reaction when that woodblock comes in on Balaclava and I was not disappointed!
The real beauty of this album comes from it's flow. Every single song ends perfectly for the next one to begin. That is something lost in choppy listening format like this. I think you will like it even 10 times more when u listen to it in continuity. Loved the review, almost as much as I love this album
505 is not in my top 10. It's good but this band has so many other good songs in b sides and in humbug and tranquility base hotel and casino that no one seems to listen to
Favourite Worst Nightmare is S Tier Arctic Monkeys in my opinion, this album really gets your adrenaline pumping through your veins. Not only that but the mixes in every single song are so tight and smooth! For months now, I’ve been a big fan of this channel, so much so that I try so hard to convince my father to take time out of his day just to sit and listen to various albums... I have a lot in mind that I want to hopefully share with him one day... I love to see how your father understands the music, man. I hope my father would react that way to that nice music 🥺❤️. I'm going to see the Monkeys live in Paris in 2 days. You can show TBH&C to your father and see how he reacts.
Dad’s reaction is SO INFECTIOUS. I’m currently experiencing this album for the first time despite knowing about this band for 12+ years and I’m just over the moon about it. I always loved their first album, but this is like that album with an added feeling of naughtiness and night-time fun and also kind of a sinister vibe. It’s so fucking stylish and fun. Dad’s reaction mirrors mine so well!
@@jl91iii I wish I could get into their later stuff, after this album, because I know they’ve only gotten more talented as time has gone on, but it’s not my cup of tea. First two albums are god-tier for me though.
53 here , my son turned me on to their music back when this album came out. I absolutely love this band, the drummer is awesome, Alex Turners lyrics are so damn good. Got to see them live with my grown children and it was one of the best concerts I’ve been to.
Great video. I'm from the Arctic Monkeys' home city of Sheffield in the UK and the way their music describes growing up in that area at that time is absolutely perfect. So cool to see two people from the other side of the world thoroughly enjoying their music too!
I literally can’t wait for your dad to hear Four Out of Five and Star Treatment. I just know he’ll love them. TBH+C is on another level. Great Reaction!!
I searched this up for anyone who doesn’t know what a teddy picker is “A 'teddy picker' is British slang for a crane machine, a popular machine at carnivals where prizes, particularly stuffed animals” Lmao I was also curious so I just had to know 😂
Man, if only we could all be so lucky to be able to sit down with a loved one and listen to a whole album, and have their genuine interest and appreciation the whole time. The best I can get is some tracks here or there on a roadtrip, but despite enjoying and being avid listeners of music (which I am so grateful for growing up!), neither of my parents really have the attention span to just listen and digest a whole album. You guys have something special, and its so awesome to be able to share it with you! Keep on rocking, much love
The end of this video was incredibly earnest and touching, honestly. A display of why I connect with your channel so much. I hope you keep on your Arctic ways towards the Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino on the moon, see you there. Peace!
You guys were talking about seeing “The Bad Thing” played live. Coincidentally, I believe it’s the only track on this album that they’ve never played live. 😅
It’s the only song that’s isn’t played live because Alex turner wanted the song on the album but the other members didn’t so the decided to put the song in but to never play it live
THE STROKES AND AM are the best thing that ever happened in my life. I can't wait to see the review of A Certain Romance. You should do All AM, All Strokes and all Voidz albums.
You guys are awesome! You gotta do their whole discography I’m sure your dad would love their first album as well! Alex turner is such a brilliant lyricist
Sadly it's because none of the members like it. There was an argument for its inclusion and Alex insisted it be in. He later voiced his regret for that.
That was a great way your dad summed up 505. It really does sound like a departure from their early sound and the beginning of a new, mature sound, which we hear in Humbug (as well as in Alex's side project The Last Shadow Puppets, which came between Favourite Worst Nightmare and Humbug). I love everything they've done, I've loved seeing how they've evolved. They're easily my favourite band of this century. I don't think they have a bad album in their catalogue. I can't wait for the new one.
What i love about AM is that every album is like a rebirth, they are constantly changing, evolving and making new and different music. Love them and this video too!
Listening to Kevin's comments about Alex's voice and him thinking Alex can go up another notch, I'd love to see him react to something like Sweet Dreams, TN because Alex is bloody amazing on that one
the last track "might be a bad track" that smirk lmao, also my fave album this is, do me a favour is probably my favourite song ever, big up ur Dad, legend
After hear you talking about the maturity in 505 and described it as "cheesy", I bet you'll love Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, but you gotta go through all the albums in between (and maybe Everything You Come to Expect) to notice that sweet evolution
Awesome he mentioned the 1950s feel on Only Ones Who Know, please show him the version with Richard Hawley on RUclips it’s literally a 50’s version & it’s beautiful
Knew a couple songs from AM growing up & still love them. TBH&C made me a fan. Doesn’t matter if some people don’t get it, it’s objectively a Fantastic album. So so good.
I love your analysis at the end how while it’s a really great sound throughout the album, it’s going to potentially get old which is why 505 is so great but also the fact that every single album is uniquely different and every album feels like a different band is why they’ve been able to survive over the last 15 years because they try different things.
This video is so fun to watch, I genuinely get so happy hearing other people talk about stuff that I really enjoy. Favorite Worst Nightmare is one my absolute favorite albums and my first ever vinyl. Also, the dad is very funny "To me it's a no skipper" "Wow!...I need some tea right now" so relatable man. I love how he appreciates everything from the base to the lyrics as well, something that not a lot of people do. What a legend.
Imho, the best thing of AM it's making others listen their albums chronologicaly and see their expectations crumble, album after album. Asides (the shock of) knowing how old they were when they started to gain fame, hearing them changing it's such an experience. It's life in music, real life. Thanks a lot for sharing AM with him! I'm eager to see him (from Argentina!) reacting to the rest of their discography.
Fun fact (Kevin will probably find it interesting) but the organ at the start of 505 is actually a sample from Ennio Morricone’s score to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Sick video btw, only recently started watching the channel but glad I did! 👍
Not really lol they are killing it and have half a million subs and probably will hit a million by next year lol. Once they react to house of balloons they will hit it
Mega! This album/band marked the beginning of my exploration into genres that I didn't grow up listening to as well as music from another country. So glad to see Kevin get introduced in this way!
I’d love you to do every single arctic monkeys album. Alex turner is my hero and imo best lyricist this side of the 00s. Suck it and See is such an under rated album I’d love to see your dad react to the music/lyrics of that album
I recently picked this one up on CD at a car boot sale for less than £1. I listen to it when I deliver pizzas in the evening and it makes the shifts so much more fun. Love this channel guys thank you so much it’s kept me going through a challenging patch, can’t wait to hear more!
I am so envious of the dad here that gets to “discover” Arctic Monkeys now. I heard my first AM song in 2017 and got to know everything up to AM all at once.
Just watched them live 2 days ago and they were absolutely amazing. Didn’t play all the hits but had some deep cuts in there, which I really loved. One of the best going!
Not sure if it was covered on the uncut version but what makes this album even more amazing considering how good the lyrics are and the maturity of the themes. is that Alex Turner would have been a teenager when he wrote this. Mind blowing when you listen back to it.

their progression as a band is super interesting. they transition from album to album similarly how they did between songs like fluorescent and the only ones who know in this album. humbug is like an evolution of that maturity. whereas their first album is all asngst & fuck around energy. this being a perfect blend of the two. they were the biggest band in uk but couldn’t get the U.S base to catch on - but during their tour with the black keys they played a new song & the u.s crowds ate it up. they decided to make an entire album around that song, & boom. AM was born. also, IF you are gonna do another i’d say do them in order from first to last. whatever people say i am that’s what i’m not being my favorite.
To me, Suck It And See is their most mature album. It's peak Arctic Monkeys.
which song was that?
@@lovelyy6491 i believe it was "do i wanna know"
This made me strangely emotional. I don't have any friends that like Arctic Monkeys. Seeing your dad get so excited about it gave me a strange sense of vindication. I was so excited to see his reaction when that woodblock comes in on Balaclava and I was not disappointed!
Mate any one of us would love to have a discography listening session with you
Lets be friends:)
You need new friends 🤣x
The real beauty of this album comes from it's flow. Every single song ends perfectly for the next one to begin. That is something lost in choppy listening format like this. I think you will like it even 10 times more when u listen to it in continuity. Loved the review, almost as much as I love this album

Yeah, 505 is sorta their magnum opus.
Absolutely magnificent and impressive considering they were all barely 20 years old when they wrote it.
I might argue that’s mardy bum but for sure it’s in the top few
@@henrymasellis5436 I agree, it’s Mardy Bum for me.
505 is not even top 5 songs for them imo. But yeah its great
@@arya6085 what are your top 5?
Genuinely curious
505 is not in my top 10. It's good but this band has so many other good songs in b sides and in humbug and tranquility base hotel and casino that no one seems to listen to
Bro, what a privilege to hear this album for the first time, fucking masterpiece.
Keep on going with these reaction videos Connor, you guys are honestly one of the best father + son figures on RUclips right now! Love you both x
Thanks Jack ❤
I love to see how your father understands the music, man. I hope my father would react that way to that nice music 🥺❤️. I'm going to see the Monkeys live in Paris in 2 days. You can show TBH&C to your father and see how he reacts.
im seeing them as well next year
I saw them last week they were incredible as always
@@renikoseva918 Looks like they played a new song yesterday in Zurich!

Ben de 2 gün üst üste izledim. Şov yapma..
Envious, fell in love with them in '09, what a journey.
@@jl91iii I wish I could get into their later stuff, after this album, because I know they’ve only gotten more talented as time has gone on, but it’s not my cup of tea. First two albums are god-tier for me though.
@Crunchatize_Me_Senpai yeah same, I only started listening to them last year actually but I think their older albums are so much better
My friend came from Sheffield and all, any chance to mention he came from the same area as AM he will take it 😂😂
I literally can’t wait for your dad to hear Four Out of Five and Star Treatment. I just know he’ll love them. TBH+C is on another level. Great Reaction!!
Well you are literally waiting.
Their most underrated album
it's a truly timeless album, i love it more with each listen

He didn't dig Star Treatment that much but loged Four Out of Five.
i’ve only listened to 505 from this album. it will be fun listening for the first time with y’all

I searched this up for anyone who doesn’t know what a teddy picker is
“A 'teddy picker' is British slang for a crane machine, a popular machine at carnivals where prizes, particularly stuffed animals”
Lmao I was also curious so I just had to know 😂
Correct. It’s a metaphor for nobody celebrities that we get in the UK. It’s effectively luck that they are “picked” just like the stuffed toys
Aaah you mean those teddy bears we got to pick at fun fair

Man, if only we could all be so lucky to be able to sit down with a loved one and listen to a whole album, and have their genuine interest and appreciation the whole time. The best I can get is some tracks here or there on a roadtrip, but despite enjoying and being avid listeners of music (which I am so grateful for growing up!), neither of my parents really have the attention span to just listen and digest a whole album. You guys have something special, and its so awesome to be able to share it with you! Keep on rocking, much love
28:12 " it might not a good track, i don't know" literally the best track on the album
Right I was gonna say
Yellow Bricks??? Really?!

Kevin asking if the last track would shit the bed was amazing sitting here knowing full well 505 is the best track on the album.
“This would be a good live band, man” HE GETS IT! They’re incredible live

Criminally sad *
You gotta do their debut album, such an amazing album. It's just so full of life and youth and energy and passion.
Their best album
the goated father-son duo back at it again
The end of this video was incredibly earnest and touching, honestly. A display of why I connect with your channel so much. I hope you keep on your Arctic ways towards the Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino on the moon, see you there. Peace!

10:15 this song is truly a masterpiece, probably my fav of arctic monkeys.
I saw AM in their hometown and they opened with "brianstorm" and let me tell you it was chaos
You guys were talking about seeing “The Bad Thing” played live. Coincidentally, I believe it’s the only track on this album that they’ve never played live. 😅
I would have LOVED to hear it live
It’s the only song that’s isn’t played live because Alex turner wanted the song on the album but the other members didn’t so the decided to put the song in but to never play it live
@@ih8teskelly wow thank u for sharing the insight!
26:03 “it’d be fun to see it live” this is one of very few arctic monkeys songs which have never been played live by the band
Damn it’s so great
Sadly it's because none of the members like it. There was an argument for its inclusion and Alex insisted it be in. He later voiced his regret for that.
@@jayphilpot2909 where did he say he regretted it? I’d like to see that interview
"If you were there, beware" the more you listen the more it beats so freaking good
What i love about AM is that every album is like a rebirth, they are constantly changing, evolving and making new and different music.
That version with Richard Hawley is my favourite. Absolutely beautiful.
Can't wait for Tranquility Base! You're the one who got me to listen to it after thinking it was no good based off of what friends said
It gets better with each listen I hated it at first
Knew a couple songs from AM growing up & still love them. TBH&C made me a fan. Doesn’t matter if some people don’t get it, it’s objectively a Fantastic album. So so good.
Praying for TBHC reaction

As someone who grew up (in the UK) with the Arctic Monkeys as my favourite band, watching this was lovely
I love how appreciative he is of the music and how he like feels the songs
505 is one of the best songs ever, was so funny when Kevin suggested it may not be good lol
Man I love this album. Its genuinely so nice watching you guys listen to some of my favorite music. Keep these coming man your videos are great.
What a legend.
i love watching these reactions, makes me feel like i’m listening to the album for the first time again.
I'm dying at 28:02 he really doesn't know what he's in for
Now you gotta have him listen to Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino. Would love to see how your dad reacts to the change of style.
I know they're not as popular, but I would love for y'all to do The Last Shadow Puppets to contextualize Alex's transition between AM and TBHC
I have seen the Monkeys many times & they mainly finish the set with 505.amazing band & love your reaction...I'm a 58 year old drummer
Being from Sheffield, when Arctic Monkeys came out with their first album we went mental 🤙
but how people from sheffield see then nowdays? do you like their current music?
@@siaskrulepersonally love it but I think it’s fair to say lot of people from Sheff aren’t as keen on their newer stuff
