- The bug type seemed to always get the short end of the stick but now they have been getting some of the respect they deserve and the buffs they needed. More specifically, mega evolutions. Shedninja and butterfree got new mega evolutions while the OG Beedrill got some buffs. There are many strong Pokémon in Emerald Elite Redux so how will they hold up?

Funnily bug is one of the easiest type to mono run in ER

@@electricipea.101Because bugs are not part of one archetype, for example:flying types are mostly fast one hit wonder who dies fast, so any priority or faster enemys are certain death. But bugs have a huge variety of playstyles, making it easier to make a balanced team.
Tldr: Variety in playstyles=Good
And bug is very varied.

Heh, I use Fell Stinger on my Elite Redux Showdown (its a custon showdown server on the elite redux discord for anyone wondering), along with Sticky Web Fortress
Mega Shedinja definitely should have kept Wonder Guard over either Tinted Lens or Adaptability. And Cheating Death should reset every time it switches. I get that they don't want to go overboard with making it full on untouchable, but it is a Bug mon with base 120 Attack and middling bp moves like X-Scissor and Phantom Force. It probably isn't killing anything any time soon, which is a huge drawback as a Mega when you have to compete with stuff like the Mega Gyaradoses and even other Bug Megas like Beedrill and Scizor.
Even it having Tinted Lens, which would usually be a godsend for other Bug-types, is kind of a nothing ability on Mega Shedinja. The only resists to Ghost are Normal and Dark... both of which you can usually hit with Bug-type moves. Unless your opponent is running freaking Pyroar, and I guess Banette in this game, you aren't really getting any mileage off of the ability. Which, again, means you can replace it with Wonder Guard to have it remain as a unique win condition - sort of like how regular Shedinja is in some Singles formats - rather than let it deal more damage against a very small handful of mostly off-meta mons.
Mega Beedrill on the other hand, that's a mon that would _really_ love Tinted Lens. Bug and Poison is such an abysmal STAB combo, so removing all (or at least most) of its resists would help it out a lot.
Put Tinted Lens over Merciless or even Hyper-Aggressive (my first go-to would actually be Levitate, but something tells me that they'd rather keep it on the mon for design-based reasons) and it becomes a lot more dangerous with Adaptability.

I'd like to see you compare the mega evolution of the pokemons who evolved by trade in Gen 1, I know Golem doesn't have one, but it should still be interesting to see how Mega Machamp compare to M-Alakazam and M-Gengar.
Ngl cheating death sounds like a downgrade to the og wonder guard lol, unless it means 2 supereffective hits, i see very little to be gained on 2 free turn when u can get hit by everything, including multihit moves as u said. Sure if u can spam espeed and sweep after setting up, cool, but it doesn’t strike me as much of an upgrade if any kekw
Yeah, should have stayed Wonder Guard.
You use base Shedinja to set up on enemy Pokemon that can't touch it, and then Mega Evolve to tank the pokemon who can and sweep

I was always surprised at how bad bug were seeing as how real life bugs are why the games even exist.
Shedinja is such a cool mega too! Brutal that it turned out to still be kinda bad... Compared to everything else anyway. If it uses Swords Dance twice, do you think Shadow Sneak would smack folks up with that? Also, does its 2 invuln hits get reset with swap?
I like how Mega Butterfree is basically just a smaller version of its Gigantamax form lol.

The fact that they remade Shedinja and it still having defense stats kills me, why not just put it all in attack and speed ?

Shedinja shouldve kept wonderguard, as an innate, and gained cheating death so that shedinja kcould withstand 2 super effectivw hits before dying
I'm currently doing Mono Bug and Beedrill aka Beyonce (It is a female) has been a reliable sweeper paired with Foretress throwing up hazards (Stealth Rock and Sticky Webs).

I’m still shocked that Shedinja lost Wonder Gaurd for Cheating Death. Like at that point I’d rather use it in a randomizer and roll to get Sturdy on one of it’s innates…
I think you're doing vanilla Mega Beedrill a disservice here. It was a very solid Mega, especially compared to its base forme it probably got the biggest upgrade out of any mon to receive a mega in X/Y, maybe second to Mega Kangaskhan. Mega Beedrill was definitely better than Mega Banette, Glalie, Abomasnow, Camerupt or Houndoom, for example.
Imo its biggest issue (aside from its bad defenses) were its bad offensive typing and its weak movepool. Poison/Bug is just not very good, and its already weak coverage moves (Drill Run, Knock Off... Brick Break?) were even weaker cause they didn't get Adaptability. At 145 Speed it was already faster than everything except absolute speed freaks like Ninjask, Electrode or Regieleki, I don't think buffing it to 175 Speed does too much for it. I think if they wanted to really buff it, Mega Beedrill would've loved Tinted Lens. Steel, Poison and Ghost all resist both of its STAB moves, and Drill Run rarely oneshots those types without Adaptability.

Pls make mega lokik or let any other curent mega bug type( for example mega scizor) can learn first impression, well there's already mega flygon(grond/bug/dragon type) but i only use it for weather remover, i'm curently doing mono physical bug with first impression, at first it may seems stupid but it's work, the main problem is the mossdeep gym leader because they using psychic terrain to stop priority move

Magic guard prevents rocks damage meaning it can literally ONLY be damaged physically
Now yes multi hit moves are an absolute pain but it’s very few and far between who will actually use said multi hit moves.
I would say ya slept on mega shedinja too much there man. Still not anywhere near best of best megas but probably middle of the pack.
But you’d need to mega evolve before magic guard takes effect. If rocks or spikes are already set up youd never be able to come out and mega evolve.

It's not just multi-hit moves that are a threat, but abilities that let the Pokemon attack more than once.

Instead of getting the free 2 hits, what if mega Shedinja got a hp stat of 101 with wonder guard. Keep all the other stats normal
