      Yes, I second this! This is a huge oversight in this video.
      Especially when the video maker quotes prices so confidently. After watching other watch channels' videos where they've quoted prices, I've checked afterward *and found mistakes / variances in price of up to 80%* (usually more expensive) compared to their quoted prices in their videos.

    Bulova gets overlooked because they make alot of gaudy watches that are always too big too often. But when they get it right they do overperform

    • @hudldevice1092
      @hudldevice1092 Год назад +6

      Exactly. The watches Bulova makes that are influenced by its massive back catalogue from the fifties, sixties and seventies tend to be great; but almost any new design released is oversize and very 'bling'. Those high beat movements are great, though - I have the Lunar Pilot and love it.

    • @andreleverettejr3747
      @andreleverettejr3747 Год назад

      @@hudldevice1092 I was just about to mention the lunar pilot I'm going to wait for the 43mm case that's the max for a pilots watch for me I've been wanting one forever. The accutron line and the frank sinatra lines are the others that I like from them too

    • @hudldevice1092
      @hudldevice1092 Год назад +1

      @@andreleverettejr3747 It is a big watch, but it really doesn't bother me like other larger watches do - I guess it's the design and the fact that 'pilot' chronographs are usually a bit 'oversize'. I do think it's a good move to make a smaller version, though - I may very well have gone for the 43mm if it had been available when I bought mine. Great watch. The Accutron line is cool and, yes, those Frank Sinatra watches are pretty stylish dress watches.

    hate Quartz? sounds like you've watched too many other YT channels and formed your opinion on theirs. Automatic is mesmorising but Quartz is superior to quartz in timekeeping and value for money.
    Good shouts on the Expedition North and Sealander, both very underrated watches and the Sealander is my daily.
    Also props for omitting the Orient Bambino.

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Год назад +2

      Unfortunately it's my own opinion. Using the word hate was a little dramatic from me admittedly. But one thing I absolutely do hate is when the seconds hand doesn't hit the marker. It kills my enjoyment of a watch. That being said, I absolutely love digital casios, any quartz without a running seconds. Or just a quartz piece that actually hits the markers. However because you can never guarantee this, I tend to stay away from them and go automatics.

    • @AusMedic89
      @AusMedic89 Год назад +1

      @@TopTierTicker each to their own, I personally think that quartz is unfairly treated on YT by the watch community but has great offerings, one watch that didn't leave my wrist for months even when I have a Squale Y1545 20ATMOS is Casio Edifice EFV100D-1A. Such a great watch for the money.

    • @ge48421
      @ge48421 Год назад

      @@TopTierTicker I don't know what bothers me more, a quartz watch whose second hand does not hit the indices, or a mechanical one that drifts a minute per week or more ("you have one job...").
      There are plenty of quartz watches that have no trouble hitting the indices, it's not an inherent feature of the technology, it's what you get when you put a cheap movement in a watch, and/or when the dial is not centered perfectly (I'm talking about you, Seiko). If a watch has a small seconds subdial the problem becomes far less visible if it even exists (the mass that has to be moved is much smaller).
      These quartz watches in my collection (ones that have central second hands) hit the markers:
      - a Dan Henry 1975 37mm skin diver, which has a 4 beat/second Seiko/TMI VH31 mecha-quartz movement.
      - the Casio Oceanus OCW-T200S
      - a Grand Seiko GMT using the high accuracy 9F86 quartz movement, but I would not call this watch "affordable"
      - the Citizen Nighthawk BJ7000-52E

    WASTE of dial space. A VK 67 will run a 12 hour totalizer rather than a WORTHLESS spelunking/space walking 24 hr. dial. WHY??? I will NEVER buy a watch with this less than WORTHLESS feature.

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Год назад

      I've personally never needed to time anything longer than an hour. I use a chrono for timing cooking, that's about it. As for the 24hr indicator, I agree it is completely useless. However the movement allows watches to be bicompax which always looks better in my opinion.

    I think when it comes to collecting (not always) most of the time, quality vs. quantity is the best way to go. I think from the expense of 12 kind sof affordable for the rest of the world watches like Seiko (not 3rd world ones, Seikos would be a kind of luxury, a 3 to 1 month's wage at minimum wage depending on province and without eating or paying other bills), it'd best to just save that up for a brand that's close to the trinity of Patek Philippe (their world time in gold is the only beautiful one, the one with roman numerals, it's not really the Calatrava or the Nautilus), Vacheron Constantin (Patrimony is the only beautiful one aside from the really complicated pieces), Audemars (Royal Oak isn't really that good looking) & Jaeger-LeCoultre which should be part of the trinity, that's not a Rolex (dive watch look is extremely overdone- manking shouldn't be stuck with that as the most popular watch design form factor) likes to have like the cool Omega Speedmaster (2nd tier like Rolex from the watch trinity).
    I'm not sure about quartz and electrified (only Cartier has that heritage that's still luxury but it's better to still have the mechanical Cartier), we might as well just use our iPhones which we all have all the time- it's most accurate, it has a built-in atomic clock watch coz' it's synced to one (atomic clock in a space satellite based). X-D
    Patience is key in getting that 2nd tier brand which will reduce purchase regrets if lower than 2nd tier (later one can go below 2nd tier for fun- which included fashion watches and Swatch which I owned before, they broke and I guess disposable adding to the pollution but they were fun), patience in saving (since grade school or when one has the allowance including cash gifts).
    God bless, Rev. 21:4
