Great interview! I've heard many people interview Neil before but you found a way to get a very special and unique side of him that I have never heard before. I'm glad I found your channel through this interview.
Just started this episode so maybe his tune has changed, but Neil’s take on ufos is so absolutely abhorrent. He’ll say that aliens would have no interest in humans, equating us to ants on a sidewalk to him. What he forgets is that there are humans that dedicate their lives to studying ants
Just because we choose to dedicate ourself in our respected field, doesn't change the fact we Are only a type I civilization. And just to put that into clarification we have never met another civilization. We are only a type one which is like the lowest. Yes aliens probably would not look at us twice unless they were how u say dedicating they life to research. Only we are the and not the researcher.
Here’s a thought - if I’m a reasonably college-educated human in the 21st century and I meet an alien of ‘n’ million years’ more development than me… Neil might say that there could be no dialogue expected. But I beg to differ. One thing we could both share (whether or not said alien could read all my mind in a second) and that’s just plain “wisdom”. And if they have no humility to go with that then they’re no better than machines. We humans can ask the deep earthing questions and look for good answers…right now. It behoves the alien smart kid to simply his-her answers to supplement the dialogue. Listening is part of wisdom and if they don’t listen for the first time humans meet them…..their loss!!
@@sefusolace410 Not really.. just means you have to take everything with a grain of salt and maybe research further than just his words... I mean I love his cosmos series..
As someone with technology that can reverse climate change , I understand exactly what he means. People don’t tend to fund things for the universal good. An individual tends to look for their personal interest. Government agencies tend to look for their interests. I no longer see that as right or wrong; it’s the way we have formed society. As long as our system is designed so that some get health care, some are fed, and some are housed, we will continue to see projects funded to meet individual interests. The assumption that “funding” Is how we decide as a society as what to do is a misleading idea. “Funding” typically means that most of society isn’t deciding.
@@GoogleIsTooInvasive Do not invest in roads, do not invest in anything as a democracy, drown the government and give industry all our resources, because we all trust the insurance companies more than our Medicare? Get our government out of education, get the government out of clean air, clean water and safe food, drown government and replace it with corporate control, then ask me how we all feel about the end of our right to choose who leads us.
I need to break with some of your other viewers and say this interview left a lot to be desired. I know you're a growing channel, so I don't want to sound overly critical, I recognize that doing something like this isn't easy so please take my criticism in the spirit of wanting to see you continue to improve and grow. Having said that I think a number of your questions were either too leading or too broad to the point that Tyson, as a scientist, could not have answered in a satisfying way, which is why he spends half the questions correcting you or re-directing the question (which is also a flaw on his part as an interviewee). I understand the impulse to ask someone like Tyson "big questions" in the hopes that he'd offer up some profound insight but unfortunately his profession as a scientist prevents him from being overly speculative in public. Asking him about spirituality or aliens or the nature of consciousness is like asking a medical doctor what their thoughts are on trainspotting or a bricklayer their thoughts on the Great Pyramids. Many of those questions are loaded with cultural baggage that a scientist like NDT, who requires a higher standard of 'proof' before he accepts anything as concrete, so he's going to redirect them in a way that will give you pretty safe and sanitized answers. Also I think you could have followed-up on your question on the commercialization of space by asking whether its benefits outweigh the costs, and what could be done to ensure that space exploration benefits as many people as possible and not just the ultra-rich like Elon Musk, which is I think where you were going but NDT kind of took the ball and ran with it in another direction.
I appreciate your comments! Many of the themes discussed here were related to the questions that emerged from reading his book, Starry Messenger. He touches on themes like spirituality, aliens, and consciousness-and how we can influence the way we see our lives from a cosmic perspective. I am grateful for your feedback, and will take it into account for future interviews! Thank you for watching.
@@throughconversations That's fair but then I don't know then perhaps it's just NDT way of being an interviewee cause it seemed like he avoided or tried to shift your questions. I appreciate your response and again I don't want to come across as overly harsh, you've done a lot of great work. I look forward to your future interviews and podcasts.
@@therexbellator Seriously lol , it was bad , i felt like i drifted off somewhere else and i found myself hearing some random words and realised where i was . The intro was way to long it's like a training video to show how not to interview someone, because you nailed the top spot in that category . My favourite part was " On that note " i am going to say thank you, i am not going to say goodbye though that would be what should really happen here with what was said , i am back in the game . somebody had to be the one to have this happen to them it is right at the other end of the scale and we saw it , sorry , but on that note things can only get better and goodluck .
There is verified military footage of weird things flying around, the military has better footage and data on those things. We have a starting point right there, what are those?
You can tell this interviewer had a very deep affection for Neil deGrasse Tyson. This was a very big interview for him personally. Honestly as it would be for anyone. I like seeing NGT with his shoes off relaxing and chit-chatting, this was a great video. Thank you for sharing.
It is almost as if he is part of the cover up. Honestly, as a black man in his field, he has probably had to be better than white people at his job and would not tarnish his name by looking seriously into this. It is safest for him to mock people and laugh with the bullies than to actually do research.
Understandable his frustration. Very few people have his understanding of astrophysics. But agree if he can chill out and take it slow for some of us haha.
He is a good example of an intelligent and well meaning person who is wrong about pretty much everything that is outside the realm of his book-knowledge.
And how many people have you successfully educated in your life. This man is 1 of the very few that despite how devolved the general public is.... Continues to spread only knowledge that can be verified.
Funny I thought that during the course of his education he conducted actual experiments. Funny that. Or by outside did you mean unverified RUclips/internet "facts" that fail every test?
offcourse there are aliens, its arrogant to think there are not. But we can go 400000 km (the moon) from earth and the closest inhabbitable planet is lightyears away. So yes, there are aliens, can they come here? probably not. And if they can why would they be interested in people that cant even fly to the moon easily. And even when they want to destroy us, who is gonne stop aliens that can cover lightyears of distance.
His thinking is at least a couple decades obsolete. Speaking as someone who witnessed a large and spectacular craft on a hiking trip all I can say is that this man is a child.
It's 100% fact that UFO's are REAL. Now, are they Extraterrestrial or not? That is the BIG question. They could be a phenomenon that comes and dwells from our Oceans. They could very well be another species or race that live inside the earth's crust or deep in our oceans. That's truly the question that's trying to be seeked out now.
Before“WE” ask the question: “What are they and why are they here?”- We need to have the answers to the questions: - Who/What are “We” and why are “We” here? - there are two kinds of people on Planet Earth: - “Those who know nothing at all and Those who know they know nothing at all” - “You are a part of the Universe, not a part from the Universe”.- Growing up is understanding the relationships between your part and the other parts of the Universe” “As parts of the Universe, We are participants, not determinants”! - “The “Governments” know nothing about “Extraterrestrial Intelligence” - Everything said, by “Governments” will be used to control and manipulate, as has always been the case. “WE KNOW THERE IS EXTRATERRESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE” in the Universe; the real question is why is there so little here? Just enjoy the experience; there's nothing you can do about it.
I do not agree with Tyson’s view on uap or possible extraterrestrials. He knows nothing on the history of this topic. If you want data, read Dolan’s work or In Plain Sight. Or read about the thousands of sighting every year. By military professionals. That is called data. There’s plenty of data and plenty of evidence that there has been a coverup. All you have to do is the research but he won’t.
It's precisely because the "data" has been so lacking that this is not accepted as true. If you amassed all the "data" of people describing fairies and leprechauns over the centuries it would look similarly impressive if you were inclined to believe such things.
@@asynchronicity Absolutely not true. There is tons of data. By professionals, not little children. Airline pilots, our Navy and Airforce pilots. They see UAPs all the time. It has only been in the past 5 years or so that they have been allowed to report on it. Tyson is a professional debunker. He belongs to a debunker club.
Because more and more people are relying on themselves and others instead of Jesus, the One and Only True God. Read the Bible, Old and New Testaments. All truth is in there. Also you could read the evidence Bible which proves in detail proof the Bible is God's word and is truth and science is all Biblically accurate, not worldly accurate and well worldly science is wrong or behind in knowledge compared to the Bible. One example; the Bible said the world was round way before the world scientists proved the world was round. God knows the future. He is in eternity meaning He has no beginning nor end. He is outside of time. God created time for us humans until we live in eternity with Him. God is so Righteous that He hates sin but loves us so much He gave us free will. He loves us so much that He became human to pay the price of our iniquities on the cross so when we turn from our old ways and turn to Him we are clothed in His righteousness and cleansed from our sins. Turn to Him today, earnestly cry out to Him. He will hear your cry. Praise His name forever, the creator of everything. Everyone can see the painter painted a picture no matter how old the painting is and no record of the painting. Well so much more obvious is it that our amazing world had an beyond amazing and intelligent mind behind every articulate design. Mind blowing and so OBVIOUS God exists and HE lives. Everyone knows God exists. Why? Well YOU know He lives, your nagging conSCIENCE knows:) Plus the Bible says, the ONE and ONLY True God knows and says in His Word EVERYONE knows He exists and He does exist. People's pride and selfish desires stand in the way of turning to Jesus as God of the world and universe. Praise His name forever. Amen. Ps: aliens are actually demons, new age religion is actually from the satan. The BIBLE has all the answers! Put your faith in JESUS, not in the world. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me.
It really made me mad when I heard that they knew in the late 1950's and early 60's that releasing fossil fuels was warming our planet. They chose to keep it a secret because big business wanted to keep making a profit. Now look at the state of our planet. It's dieing. And we will die with it.
Neil’s problem is that he’s too smart for his own good. He thinks he knows everything and any opinion other than his is wrong. I saw a low flying ufo pass right over my house in 1976. It’s was right before dawn. It was incredibly bright light and made zero sound. I ran out into my backyard to watch it depart over my neighbors houses till it was out of sight. Two cops and the person they had pulled over also saw it.
Why do people ask NDT about the UAP/UFO phenomenon when it's obvious he has little to no knowledge of the subject and has no interest in acquiring any. It would be like having a vegetarian review a steakhouse he's never been to.
I always ask the same question. He is so ignorant on the topic. He reminds me of a flat earther’s ignorance. And his 8 billion cell phones argument and no clear pictures of UFOs. First of all there is plenty of cell footage of unidentified crafts. And if the photo quality is too good then it wood be acalled fake video or pic. And he says the government can't hold a secret like if they had the knowledge of aliens. Neil is in aware of the 65 years of military whistle-blowers. Neil please stop talking about what you haven't researched.
I had an abduction experience in Ohio on July 4th, 1966. I was 16 and alone driving on Ohio 61 toward Norwalk around 9 pm. Clear summer night, radio blasting CKLW when a massive fog fell. I had to stop because I couldn’t see the road. Suddenly the fog lifted and right in front of me was a disc shaped object with flashing colored lights sitting stationary. It was not a helicopter. The next thing I knew it shot off to my right super fast then stopped. Then disappeared. My car was dead. I put it into park and started it. The radio was all static. The bar was gone so I turned the dial to bring it back to my station. I went on to Norwalk and didn’t discuss it until 1989 when I was at a MUFON convention in Vegas with a film crew. Budd Hopkins wanted to hypnotize me and I agreed. I told him what I was wearing, who I saw and what they wanted. I told him what the floor was like. I have zero doubt that I was abducted. And prior to that night I had never seen one movie or TV show about aliens. I had never had a thought about aliens. But it did happen to me.
Irrespective of NDTs dismissal of the experiences of ET phenomena, it is in fact a reality. He can't think outside of the dogma of classical physics. Post modern scientific thinking will validate many peoples experiences.
BOTH BIG MINDS TAG TEAM TUSSLING WITH ALL THE PHYSICISTS AND PHILOSOPHERS WHOSE SHOULDERS WE STAND ON. Hey, some commenters unfairly describe Neil DeGrass Tyson, this clip came after many many minutes of conversation where we're fluffy, smiles and cordiality had already been dispatched. If you listen to his words, he was being 100% respectful
This one is from Claude AI Here is an attempt at a poem in the style of a person yet to be born, someone from the distant future: Ode to a Vanished Earth The legends tell of azure seas, Vast jungles lush with green, Snow-capped peaks that scraped the skies, A planet once serene. They whisper of strange beasts that roamed, And birds that filled the air, Of verdant lands and seasons change, A world beyond compare. But all I see is metal walls, And filtered, recycled air, No sunrise glow, no nightfall dim, There's no nature here to share. The Earth they knew has passed away, Its glories lost in time, I'll never walk its hills and dales, Or hear birdsong chime. Their Eden-home is but a dream, A paradise now gone, I dwell within my hollow sphere, I'm child of steel, not dawn. Though marvels meet my gaze each waking day, Inventions Neo-humans have made, I yearn to glimpse that long-lost age Before the earth began to fade. Through time and space my thoughts now roam To glimpse that verdant memory, Of Gaia's world, vibrant, alive - That lost green prophecy.
Instead of discussing UFO controversy on Social Media, it would have been better, If Neil de grasse Tyson had discussed the issue with fellow scientists who are not too opposed to UFO phenomenon and come with one voice. UFO can not be fake and real- like at the same time.
@@szbalazs2073 We actually have evidence. Physical evidence. Dr. Garry Nolan has a piece and Avi Lobe has another piece. Tyson is a professional debunker. He belongs to a debunker club. He has decided to debunk UAPs. Tyson said we do not have clear pictures of UAPs. He is wrong we have a lot of clear pictures. We have our air force pilots telling us they see disk shaped metal objects flying around when they are in the air in their jets. Our government put together a task force to study UAPs. Generals from our navy and army have been before congress to tell them what they know about UAPs. So I do not know where you have been in the past 5 years.
Well, they did it, because they are here. Our US government even had a UAP task force set up to study about them. Garry Nolan, one of the smartest men in the world says they are here. Avi Lobe says they are here. So what planet have you been living on in the past 5 years??
Tyson just ignores the tick tack and the trained professional military pilots that provided their experiences (not just one but several). He just waves it off. I have no respect for him anymore when he ignores something that significant. He's cherry picking and hopes we won't notice.
But why isn't there better evidence out in the public space? We all know how competent our government would be in keeping something like that a secret. Why hasn't alien tech or an alien body part been sent to the New York Times or to the Wall Street Journal?
@@szbalazs2073 Scores of pilots who are thoroughly trained-- by our military-- to identify aircraft, ours or our rivals, and can easily recognize when a craft is something different.

You know what ? I think what Dr Tyson said about how we are made from stars is pretty much what we learn from the Bible is the same . EVERY ONE of us is connected with each other. We are all the same . I love Dr Tyson , please keep doing interviews with him .👍👍
Tyson is a professional debunker. He belongs to a debunker club. I would not believe anything he says. There are other people who are a lot smarter than Tyson talking about UAPs in our skies. Like Garry Nolan and Avi Lobe.
Tyson refusing to look into the evidence. It's like he's one of the people who laughed at Copernicus when he discivered the Sun was the center of the solar system.
If talking about the recent de-classified video evidence, 'tic-tacs', and air force pilots coming forward, are you aware of the explanations coming from the other side - 'intelligence community'. So China and the U.S. military have been experimenting with holography. Holographic tech whose purpose is to confuse radar. It's advanced to a stage where the hologram is physical and not just 'data driven'. It doesn't explain away all sightings, but a huge majority, yes.
Neil will acknowledge they are smarter but refuses to acknowledge they are masters of stealth technology. ETs with more intelligence are not going to risk upgrading us to compete with them by over exposing their tech to us. Have we recovered their crashed probes and rovers, ofcourse. The universe is a vast vast wilderness. Just about anything is possible.
This is such an interesting watch This guy clearly worships Neil as a lot of us do. Neil is truly oblivious to this admiration which makes him all the more interesting.
I’m a musician! And I’m also a physicist. But what I am leaving is my music. And perhaps some day someone will use some and then there’s a chance that I did it okay! You can upload live and gaia should be taken to court for lying! But distance between aliens might be too enormous to reach! Frankly great answers NDT. I’m have been very critical, but I’m more and more convinced that you have a point about many things that I agree with.
Tyson said that technology advancement will probably continue to follow an exponential curve indefinitely. But it was my understanding that technology advancement more likely follows a sigmoid curve which is more or less shaped like an "S". Meaning there is a period of exponential advancement that levels off at some point.
I think you are speaking of individual technologies while Tyson is speaking of technology in a broader sense. For example early computers used mechanical electrical relays and later vacuum tubes, transistors, integrated circuits, and microprocessors. As each old technology hit its limit a new one was developed, and the old one was discarded. Also, he was probably speaking in even broader terms. Someday computing power will also flatten out, but he did say "indefinitely" and not "forever."
@@JT-rx1eo You came to that conclusion by reading, listening and a random thought triggered by an astrophysicist? None of this is reasoning. You did not reason your way into that conclusion at all. To live, to learn, to love, and to grow, As a child of the cosmos, I'll flourish below.
I love this man and this interview makes me very concern for his health. He has been a rockstar at making science accessible to everyone. He seems ill and utterly exhausted and is having trouble staying on topic. And awake. A little aphasia and a few odd tics. Disturbing from my hero and my 11 yr old's inspiration. I would like him to get some serious R&R.
I remember his not-so-intelligent rant about the wu-flu and the efficacy of the "vaxxx". That alone, yes, based solely on that, has made me not consider any more of his opinions on a subject.
I appreciate his skepticism, other scientists are investigating UFOS as we speak. When Neil finally gets to talk about literal Aliens it’s going to Be Extremely Interesting.
Neil, at this point, is about as much of a scientist as I am. I have a degree in biology but I haven’t written any papers. However I would say that I am poised to be much more of a scientist than him because I have an open mind and I haven’t lost my curiosity. What is a scientist without his open mind and curiosity?
I've had a few sightings myself, like a fucking city in the fucking sky after a weezer show in chicago. It was above the city skyline at night and was fucking huge. another time at summer camp 2 nights in a row at 2-4 am or something like that and it was this pulsing fire in the sky. Some other oddities include for lack of better words a portal in the sky and this one oddity at around 9 am new orleans time, there was this loud noise that sounded like war of the worlds. I don't know how to describe it besides it sounded like some massive metal objects screeching or being ground together. Felt like it was heard on a global scale it was that fucking loud and long. have never in my life heard anything else like that sense, except in this one afi song and in war of the worlds movie. gave me goosebumps. I'll never forget any of this. Think what you want, I know what I've seen and heard. On another note, explain skin walker ranch. I THINK it's some inter-dimensional or inter-galactic gas station of sorts. I haven't been keeping up with the show since season 2-3?, so it could have been explained by now.
I Saw some strange lights 5 years ago, they were moving very fast, like ICBM´s, very similar to the formations people see on the internet, me and my friends used smartphones to record it, the quality was not good, it was not better or worse than the videos I see from UFO´s, so I didn´t even bothered to show to anyone aside from my relatives. I don´t know with newer phones if the quality gets much better, so maybe there is a lot of footage that people don´t even bother to share. I would like to believe what I saw was a UFO formation but the skeptical in me is too strong. Bottom line, the existence of lots of smartphones doesn´t equal to Shure shot in getting good footage of strange phenomena.
A long time ago I and other students in my campus saw a lot of lights in the night sky. Everybody was talking about UFO's. I was the only one who thought that this could be from some distant earth lights for example distant oil drills in the ocean being bent back to earth due to some atmospheric conditions. My advice: please open up your minds first before falling into UFO conclusions😅
Corporations don't let "Custodial Engineers" in sensitive areas, Does anyone think the D.O.D. would be any different? That being said, There's far too many independent researchers around the world. If someone had proof you'd know instantly
Neil's position of rather arrogant certitude regarding ufos has really diminished my overall view of him. He's being skeptical for the sake of being skeptical (a weird and common approach of an almost religiosity regarding skepticism. Like Michael Shermer, et al), and seems to be fully uninterested and closed-minded on legitimately investigating the subject. He's disregarding statements from people with the clearances to work ICBMs. Robert Hastings experience from the Malmstrom nuke base for example. Numerous people with high clearances have acknowledged things like craft shutting down any weapons capabilities, and doing all the anomalous maneuvers, etc. It's just a bizarre take he has, to the point where he seems annoyed and even angry about considering the topic.
If the human race continues to make the same mistakes as when we were just cave dwellers, they are not using reason, not trying to see the problem from its core. It is especially better to look at it from all points of view. Each person is like a universe, and human consciousness is what makes you believe that you are the Creator of that universe. But if I were to tell you, or just consider this point: if the interpretation I give to the Bible where it says that we were created in the image and likeness of God, which you perceive from a rational perspective, is that He created us with powers like His, but we have to seek and practice with them. The greatest gift He gave us was freedom, which allows us to forge our own path. Just as the rules that govern the universe apply to life as we know it, let us focus on the well-being of all humans and living beings, not just our own. The world is as it is because we want it to be this way. Don't blame God; He gave us all of this, and we are destroying it. Let's be more realistic and conscious. Every problem has a solution, and that solution includes all of us. People talk about extinction, but the Earth is still here. It's us who go away, and that's what has been happening for millions of years. We destroy ourselves, and that's where we're heading if we continue as we are.
Real question: who is actually interested in what NDT has to say? He's been proven to be a narcissist with proveably incorrect ideas. Really??? Why give this guy any of your time.
You are talking about one of us ,give him a break .NDT is making a living for his nearest and dearest, it's a job and he me makes me laugh with some of his replies that are hilarious but go over the head of the interviewer , who i give 10 out of 10 for enthusiasm . Each to their own though as some scientists are not my favourites.
Real answer: I am, and millions of others are still VERY interested in what NDT has to say, despite the demented fascist totalitarian authoritarian social media woke cancel culture mob, who demand censorship and the deranged modern equivelent of burning witches at the stake. Yes really.
Do not agree with Mr. Tyson in reference to aliens. There are just too many people worldwide that have seen or experienced this phenomenon. I do agree with spending time, money and energy on our amazing planet earth vs. sending people to Mars. Also, using robots for assembly jobs is one thing, however, creating machines to do our thinking, doing, and creating is quite another. So we want to replace humans with machines? We have an incredible, amazing, beautiful world why do we want to fill it up with wires and fake life? Also, Mr. Tyson looked like he was trying to keep awake especially during the first part of the interview. Not the interviewer's fault.
I have never heard neil degrass tyson say a single intelligent thing, this interview is no exception. In the future we can make a montage of how badly his comments have aged to remind him of what a complete clown he is.
@@DRM0087 id like to think i am a bit more accomplished than mr tyson, but thats like saying your smartest kid on the short bus. its not at all anythign to brag about. I am alot less arrogant, but thats like saying your the most empathetic sociopath on walll street.
This is no longer being skeptical, it is being really stupid and preferring to die embraced with his convictions, this is not being a scientist, it is being religious and dogmatic. No, this guy is not a new Carl Sagan, he has to be born again to try to be a nail of what Seagan was.
I no longer have any respect for a man I admired for years. Neil is now "Part of the problem. (and/or cover up)" Clearly he has been bribed/paid off to take this side...or he is simply in Denial due to hidden deep seated fears that, their might be alien beings smarter and more advanced than humans. From a money angle, he also has a lucrative money making position and reputation in the public eye. He doesn't want to come across like a kook. Hiding information to the tax paying public is nothing to respect. David Grusch spent 4 years investigating this and he testified as to his results. It's all TRUE. He and the pilots (in the hearing) were all under oath. Get a grip Neil. Wake up and smell the coffee. Just accept the reality and move on.
With all of his knowledge concerning the vast universe you would think that he would be onboard with the possibility that an advanced civilization possibly millions or billions of years older than us has conquered Inertia and has engineered craft with the capabilities and speed that we can't even understand. Now I really don't care how smart he is because I know what I saw in 2016 right here in Las Vegas where I live, it was up close and I had time to study what I was looking at.. my sighting lasted more than 4 minutes. I'm 68 years old, and I've seen most things in the sky for decades, and I'm telling you- what I saw was not made on this planet..
I live in Cambridge, Ontario. There's a river that runs through town and I'm about 3 blocks away. I was sitting in the living room one night and saw out the window an orange light in the sky slowly moving south, seemingly over the river. I went outside with my son and his friend to see what it was. There were 3, in a triangle formation, 1 in front and 2 behind, silently traveling in unison down the river. I couldn't really tell distance or size or even if they were marker lights on a solid object but they maintained the shape as if it was one object. I didn't see any stars, I guess it was overcast. We watched as they passed by in wonderment, tried to take cell-phone photos but like Neil said they're all shaky and fuzzy. We went back inside and every once in a while i kept checking the window. They came by 3 times that night. I never called anyone to report it, not even my brother 8 blocks away. It never occurred to me for some reason. No reports the next day, as if it never happened. It was around 11 o'clock or midnight, still people out and about. A passer-by walked past as we were looking at them and said "Hot air balloons, buddy." and kept walking.
Tyson is a know-it-all type with an ego the size of the universe. I tire of his skepticism on everything that doesn't fit his narrow world view. It's annoying. He is thinking with the limitations of our infantile understanding of existence. The fastest way to travel from one point to another is by thought. We just haven't developed enough to utilize it. And thank God for that, because the way we are as a species, we would abuse it severely.
Most scientists don't take it seriously until they either have a sighting themselves or interview enough credible witnesses & see enough evidence to make them reconsider. Like James E. MacDonald, a physicist, who saw a UFO with 4 meteorologists & basically overnight became a UFO researcher. Or J. Allen Hynek, an astronomer who initially debunked UFOs for the Air Force until eventually the quality of witnesses and evidence he came across changed his mind (he eventually coined the close encounters categorisation scale). What's funny is even NDT has said he thinks it's possible that aliens could have flown through our solar system and they would just ignore us because we're too boring. Like he has some insight into what a hypothetical non-human intelligence would find interesting??? That's hubris in my opinion. I like in NDT for a lot of things, but his take on UFOs is not one of them.
His argument isn’t good on aliens. 6 billion cell phones but has he ever tried to video distant planes or fast moving objects? It’s not impressive. Also, it’s not just military sites. Commercial pilots and citizens have been recording for 80 years! This topic frustrates me with him and nobody counters him well!!!!!! They sit there and let him spew this nonsense! These people just won’t pose a good debate against him. Seriously! 6 billion iPhone argument is awful!!!

I strongly disagree that China is the reason why we are going back to the Moon. The trajectory that we are on started in 2004, which led to the Constellation program. In the next Administration, the program was changed because Congress was not funding the Constellation program to the necessary levels and also because it became clear that private rocket companies had the ability to service low Earth orbit. So it was decided to let the private sector focus on low Earth orbit and NASA would focus on the Moon, Mars, and Asteroids. I don't know that China made any Moon announcements before 2004. What did happen before 2004 was that the Space Shuttle Colombia broke up upon re-entry. That is the event that put us on our trajectory, not China. We were going to the Moon regardless of what China chooses to do. Also, we are going to Mars, whether China goes or not. Also, our going to Mars has nothing whatsoever to do with Congressional funding. We don't need SLS in order to get to Mars. There will be a much cheaper, more capable private rocket that can take humans to Mars.
Sorry, I had to skip Neil to focus on Avi Loeb open mindfulness type of guests. Well, I watched the first section where he contradicts himself if we compare his views about Civil rights with embracing different opinions about the possibility of alien life.
Ok let me state that I'm not religious and with that out of the way I would like to quote the following "The meek will inherit the earth" those that will heal the earth will stay here and those that don't give a star dust will leave. I think I'm staying. Is just a cycle success to all.
The word (know) is misleading. I don't consider all information knowledge. To me knowledge has to be not only verified to be true but also somehow useful.

Thank you for watching.

offcourse there are aliens, its arrogant to think there are not. But we can go 400000 km (the moon) from earth and the closest inhabbitable planet is lightyears away. And even when they want to destroy us, who is gonne stop aliens that can cover lightyears of distance.

Smoke less while hiking son.
Before“WE” ask the question: “What are they and why are they here?”- We need to have the answers to the questions: - Who/What are “We” and why are “We” here? - there are two kinds of people on Planet Earth: - “Those who know nothing at all and Those who know they know nothing at all” -
“You are a part of the Universe, not a part from the Universe”.- Growing up is understanding the relationships between your part and the other parts of the Universe” “As parts of the Universe, We are participants, not determinants”!

14:10 🎵🎶We are Golden🎵🎶
Why is it that we are moving forward in knowledge and invention but at the same time, humanity seems to be destroying itself?
It’s your problem if you can’t deal with smart people.
Go read a book instead of taking drugs

Ode to a Vanished Earth
The legends tell of azure seas,
Vast jungles lush with green,
Snow-capped peaks that scraped the skies,
A planet once serene.
They whisper of strange beasts that roamed,
And birds that filled the air,
Of verdant lands and seasons change,
A world beyond compare.
But all I see is metal walls,
And filtered, recycled air,
No sunrise glow, no nightfall dim,
There's no nature here to share.
The Earth they knew has passed away,
Its glories lost in time,
I'll never walk its hills and dales,
Or hear birdsong chime.
Their Eden-home is but a dream,
A paradise now gone,
I dwell within my hollow sphere,
I'm child of steel, not dawn.
Though marvels meet my gaze each waking day,
Inventions Neo-humans have made,
I yearn to glimpse that long-lost age
Before the earth began to fade.
Through time and space my thoughts now roam
To glimpse that verdant memory,
Of Gaia's world, vibrant, alive -
That lost green prophecy.

Tyson said that technology advancement will probably continue to follow an exponential curve indefinitely. But it was my understanding that technology advancement more likely follows a sigmoid curve which is more or less shaped like an "S". Meaning there is a period of exponential advancement that levels off at some point.
I am not sure why you developed that understanding.
How did you come to that conclusion? That's interesting.
Wow consciousness in all mammals. Diff. Levels. Great stuff N.D.T
Thanks for listening
Consciousness exists in everything, mammals, other animal, plants and rocks, etc.
The only difference is the levels.
I remember his not-so-intelligent rant about the wu-flu and the efficacy of the "vaxxx". That alone, yes, based solely on that, has made me not consider any more of his opinions on a subject.
Someone is about to have a big surprise in the next few months...
These vehicles get here because their culture developed ai about 1/2 million years ago so it gave them the ability to travel here from there.
I appreciate his skepticism, other scientists are investigating UFOS as we speak. When Neil finally gets to talk about literal Aliens it’s going to Be Extremely Interesting.
I just learn a lot..😁🤩🤗🤭😏
Thank you for watching! I am glad you found the conversations insightful.
Tyson da man!
2:00 Neil head in hand" How much longer is he going to prattle on for?"
Lesson learned!!
Nice discussion, but was waiting for Tyson to correct pronunciation of "Starry". 😂
Appreciate you watching!! Will look into the correct pronunciation, haha! Thank you for letting me know
I agree with Neal
"I'm not invoking conscienceness as a measure of anything special or important, and I'm not compelled to do so." (NdeGT). Precisely.
Great speech Neil, telling your guest that we are all the same, are all star dust. Thank You.
This is one of the most beautiful and inspiring insights I’ve ever heard. Thank you for watching, glad you found it insightful!
Me too!
We destroy ourselves, and that's where we're heading if we continue as we are.
sceptic would say "i dont know" a debunker says "theres nothing to it" - Stanton Friedman
Disclosure is coming. It must be very confronting for him.
If I were casting a real life cast of Family Guy, Tyson would be Cleveland without a doubt. 😊
Yes really.
He's too smart and entertaining for me to care about how full of himself he is. So, I got something for ya. Here. This is yours 🖕 trolly mctrollerson
Doctor Neil deGrasse Tyson doesn't know what he's talking about. :)
He’s so smart he really doesn’t know what’s going on
Nothing is going on conspiracy freak, UFO's are all in your tiny brain
NEIL FOR PRESIDENT! HA HA HA We know you are way better than that. Love you Neil! Sill looking UP!
A good interview, thoughtful . Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching
Love the comments 😂😂😂
❤❤❤
This is the first time that I’ve watched this post and I think he’s super sweet and Spiritual and I enjoyed that so thanks for this great video
Starts ca. 7:00
Very interesting points of view and wonderful interview.
Thank you for watching! glad you found it insightful.
I have never heard neil degrass tyson say a single intelligent thing, this interview is no exception. In the future we can make a montage of how badly his comments have aged to remind him of what a complete clown he is.
@@mrschnider6521so you became unaccomplished in life so far?
@@mrschnider6521
You sound sad because you're ineffective at life.
It was nice to hear all of his accomplishments! Incredible 🌎☀️💙 brother not another…I like that
I appreciate you saying this!! thank you for watching!
Thought he was getting tired of the long introduction
Yup , I love Neil but he just hasnt seen one , If he would have seen what I saw in 1974 on a clear summer evening he would be saying something else.
Tks.
Exactly he's being disingenuous to say the least.

Very interesting point - thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Nothing tops Neil! Not chocolate not peanut butter
Excellent talk. A couple mis-spoken phrases resulting in statements *obviously* implying the reverse of what was intended, not withstanding.
Is something wrong with Neil? He seemed drunk, or at the very least, burned out. I hope he’s ok!
He was bored
Neil is a really smart and nice person.
Neil just doing podcast with anybody these days😂
He is definitely far calmer and less shoutey than usual. Hope he's OK.
I enjoyed Neil's talks on the Cosmos. He has plummeted in my estimation when he discusses UFOs. He has no knowledge of them whatsoever, and dismissing them as fake is an insult to thousands of witnesses.
