I love it. I totally agree that the nova line has the most unique characteristics and don't tie in to one specific category!
Ruby is best looking paddle 😬
That’s a hot take for me. I’m not a big fan of the white and red gives me candy cane vibes. If they made it in black and red instead then I wouldn’t have hesitated to pick one up
I play the R1 at Lifetime Fitness and it gets a lot of attention in my league. I love this paddle! The spin is off the charts!
Damn, missed it by 3 weeks. ;) Thank you for your time.
Thoughts on crbn 3x?
not sure if u carry the ruby, but assuming u dont; as a r1 nova user myself, i agree. i like the paddle w lead at 10 and 2 positions. otherwise my paddle of the year would be the ruby. gj as always. wishing u much more success in 24
is the ruby just a slightly more plush, slightly more control-oriented version of the dbd?
@@bicyclethief imo it has way more power and im able to dink more consistently. i also feel that the kevlar grips the ball better for spins n direction. but im a relatively low lvl player
@@stillvienna i got to play with it tonight. it's definitely a little more head heavy, so if you swing at a ball, it has more power than the dbd. but the pop is definitely less--which i like for resets. it reminds me of the perseus (control oriented thermoform) but with WAY better spin and cleaner look
Hope to see your review about Poach Havoc M3.
Great paddle reviews!! Also I like your court attire…what brands are your fave to play in? Love the shorts and shirts. Sorry I know off topic.
Thank you! Mainly Nike shirts and then a mix of Nike, Asics, Adidas and Ellesse shorts.
Do you have honorable mentions for each category as well?
CRBN 1X is an honourable mention
Which Vatic flash racquet to you recommend.. the 14 or 16 mm ?
I prefer the 16 as it just has a bit more control.
What’s the biggest difference between the ronbus nova r1 and the vatic pro flash? Thanks!
The shape will be the biggest difference. The Flash is much quicker and the R1 is more stable.
Pickleball is America's fastest-growing sport and we like it #Pickleball
How would you compare the Hyperion c2 cfs to the Selkirk power air?
They are very different paddles; the Power Airs are a little dated IMO as they don't have the same power/spin as the best thermoformed paddles.
you should do a 2023 paddle award in 2024 after youve played all the paddles including the 6zero ruby
No double black diamond?
It’s funny, I knew you would put the Flash as the best spin paddle. Because you’ve mentioned it before. But the Flash has RPMs in the 1800s. I’m pretty sure it isn’t even a top 10 paddle for spin. For example, the Pickleball Apes paddle you showed has closer to 2100 RPM.
I think u are referring to prism flash. The flash is around 2k
@@Syndrome88 it’s actually the reverse of the that. The flash is around 1850. The prism flash is over 2k. All the numbers are on the Pickleball Studio spreadsheet.
If you go to Vatic’s site you will find a comparison spec chart of all their models. The Prism Flash 16mm has RPM of 1800. The Flash Carbon 16mm has RPM of 2000. Given their information is correct - the thermoformed Vatic Pro Flash Carbon 16mm wins on spin twixt these two, IMO. I have both paddles and can attest to their top drawer spin and quickness/feel in a patient dink rally and a firefight.Added .4 oz weight to my Prism Flash and found that they both play similarly in soft/quick game but the thermoformed reliability, comfort, consistency, power and spin makes the Vatic Pro Flash Carbon 16mm my go-to. Now, I want to try a poppier, 14 mm… 🤔🎈
@@56cdross their information isn’t correct. You should use the Pickleball studio database and the John Kew database. In reality, the 16mm flash has mid 1800s rpm, and the 16mm prism flash has nearer to 2,000 rpm.
I currently still play (coming up on a year) with the original Joola Hyperion 16mm Swift with Charged Carbon Surface, but am soon to pull the trigger on one of the new Joola paddles. I originally considered the new 16mm Perseus, but noticed Ben Johns’ less-than-stellar performance with it-especially in his backhand drop shots-he tends to hit a noticeable number of those short and into the net. Now I’m seeing Amazon discounts on this top-tier Joola paddle-confirmed my suspicion? And now with your own review of the top disappointing paddle-suspicion definitely confirmed! Other reviewers have stated that the new Hyperion C2 is essentially the Perseus in the Hyperion shape. If this is true (not saying it is true), how can your review rave about the C2 while the Perseus is a disappointment (only because it failed to meet expectations)? Thanks in advance for any clarification.
Honestly, I just couldn't believe just how different the C2 felt to the Perseus and I thought it was the C2 surface but it turns out they both have that. To me, the C2 has way better power and spin.
The Lux is probably the only correct paddle on this list. Spin you have the Mach 2 Forza or Diadem edge etc with so much more spin. The new Engage paddles have more power than the C2.
I don't find the Mach 2 Forza as spin friendly as the best hybrid paddles mainly because it doesn't hold up as well on fast groundstrokes. In terms of power, a lot has changed since this video, but I haven't tried the Engages yet.
Ruby best looking, gearbox pro power is the most powerful, best spin is either the diadem 18k or Engage MX Pro. Best all around paddle for 2023 is Engage MX Pro
Maybe explain all those things on your next excellent podcast/hot take, etc. Love to see you sharing your expertise as we can all learn. Show us what You got! Respect. Where can we find your channel? Thanks.
Gearbox Pro Series missing?!
They only do products that they carry.
A haha he ain't carrying it else gearbox pro would win all categories
The paint grit on the LUXX is a huge fail. Play with a guy who wears them out in less than 30 days.Needs weight too.
To be fair almost every paddle benefits from added weight.
Lack of durability is a huge minus for recreational players, which I assume is 95%+ of the market. If you are a pro and get free paddles or don't mind spending for a new paddle every couple of months then I guess it's not a critical issue. So any paddle such as the LUXX I will not consider.
It's weird that you don't even mention Ruby, which has kevlar face.
If you are one of the many who paid a premium for this paddle and got a dud. And Gearbox won't stand behind the warranty. Simply file a claim in your community small claims court to hold them accountable. Not sure what is worse their quality control or their customer service.
Can you explain why you're selling paddles way above its retail price?? You can just go to the manufacturer's site and buy it for the actual price. You're selling the Hyperion C2 for $344 while the retail price is $250?? Why scam your customers?
We are a Canadian store, so these are CDN prices.
