With much of the thatching in place your video now resembles a Bruegel painting. It's the clothing. I now wonder if you can acquire comfortable period clothing. Thomas would help. By that time I wouldn't know if I was looking at a period re-enactment, a movie set, or a couple of modern monastic hermits.

'MANKY MAN' is the HERO of the early video: partly it's his reach in setting the roof cap; partly it's his leverage in the splitting of the wood! Things are looking so neat and fine around the Celtic House. I can almost feel 'move-in' coming.

Brilliant production fellas, excellent narrative. Equality, equal rights, equal opportunity, equal representation, given the theme of realism, will there be female company? Imagine if you called upon some of the contestants from the "Naked and Afraid" survivor series, they'd be in their element, in fact for those people they'd no doubt consider themselves accommodated in five star luxury. Really nice build, I hope you've sown seeds for your garden already. Pretty exciting stuff, looking forward to seeing the story develop further. All the best regards from here on the West Coast side of Australia 🌏 Cape Naturaliste

ps, i am sure many younger people dont realize how hard it was to be alive in the days when this was your only shelter. AND THE WHOLE FAMILY ABOVE A CERTAIN AGE HAD TO HELP BUILD IT. i wish this string of videos could be made into something that would show school kids about life in the olden days. ancient days is a better term i suppose. they dont understand why folks had a gazillion kids. they actually knew how not to. but, many of your children didnt live very long and you needed all the help you could get. something i taught kids in my job. be safe and i hope you enjoy your 2 months. i sure would.

You guys should definitely consider using pine pitch for the roof top point. it's completely waterproof and abundant and natural. celts used it on their boats... i don't see why they wouldn't use it on their rooves. it would look like a pencil though lololol

Im thinking. If you had three or four long poles connected from the cap of the house. Running down the outside of the roof. And all the way to the ground. So that you could lift the cap slightly, and turn it. And then just have one side of the cap have an opening for the smoke to come out. That would be an easy way to make the smoke draw out efficiently. And prevent rain from comming in the top. You would only have to turn it if the wind changes direction by a large amount

Wear some leather gloves next time you use the axe like that. That will prevent the blisters. You can also wrap the handle in a couple of layers of leather that has been lightly taned and oiled, like a vege-tan leather and get the same effect, but without needing to buy gloves.

i woulda went through that in one line witha standard saw, i bet ya! make a 20p or 50p type of cut, once a corner is flat change the angle a little bit to start getting at the next closest corner and so on, flat sawing front tilt saw and the return to flat and then continiue to tilt towards yourself, and just repeat and you want notice how u went clean through it no snapping. calmy sawing and enjoying it, will give you the best results.
