Bump this guys, this will help them a lot with their sawing. You can buy wax for your saw to help it saw smoother, and reduce the amount of catch/jamming that you encounter. If you want an iron age solution, Pig fat/grease was often applied for the same result. It really helps with those aggressive toothed saws.
It all depends on the set upt of the saw. If it is really sharp and the tooth set like they should be, there should be no binding. Most of these saws need quite a lot of tweaking to get them to work right, even when they are brand new like this. All of them need to be sharpened first at least.
I recently discovered the channel, and I'm kinda addicted now, I've been watching so many of your old videos and I love them. Love the focus on nature and being more natural too.
Yeesssss dog gets to bite more dirt, best day ever! The wrens were awesome. My parrot really approved and started peeping and beeping through the whole video.
Happy to see younger folk working with traditional tools. If not for young men like you three, in another hundred years we would lose the know-how and the tools would stop being manufactured.
It's awesome to see all the techniques that you use to build using only natural materials. You guys are my favourite channel. Love what you're doing so thanks for all the hard work and for giving us the opportunity to be part of your awesome projects! Keep up the great work.
Wow! Excellent work gentlemen. I’ve been watching your growth and progress since the $10 challenge. You’ve come a long way since those videos. With your drone work, the multi-angle sequences, the music montage with Thomas, and the editing ... I mean, wow! It is really impressive!
I absolutely dislike waiting for a new episode on everything, but talk about being worth the wait. That stone wall is a work of art in itself. Most RUclipsrs would just throw some quick piece of shit together and call it good, but you can definitely see the quality that went into it. Excellent work gentleman!
It's incredible the sheer determination you guys bring to bare on this project. Heroic effort! By the way; Thomas has to be the most beautiful mule I've ever seen.
It is very interesting to follow you in this giant project that you are working on. As much effort and time as you put in, I hope the end result will be something absolutely amazing and unique.
quick little tip on the crosscut saw; when drawing towards you dipp your hands and when pushing raise them up; you sort of make an infinity sign or a number eight on it's side; that gives the saw more force for biting into the wood without bogging down so you can remove chips faster. it also lets you make longer strokes as you don't need to push and pull so fast.
Hi Guys: Well that's a pretty impressive piece of dry stone masonry. Reminds me of the work my Cornish grand father did when I was a boy. Good to see old skills are still of value. You keep referring to Thomas as a mule To me he looks more like a pony from the Shetlands. I'm getting ready for the roof . Thanks Brian 80
You guys rock! I've been working on a small mortarless rock wall and a rock and clay chimney and I have worn out two pairs of gloves! Also with the saw. I learned something which might help you. The large spaced teeth work best for soft wood and the small spaced teeth on the saw are for hard woods. I have been stripping the bark off the trees for the walls of my house too and wondered if they were going to crack because they are green. Then just today my dog dug out the dirt I had carried in for leveling the floors and foundation for the walls. I . could identify with everything in this video! But I am working on a much smaller scale. I am a bushcrafting grandmother and I love your videos
@@Gigachadly you fit the rocks together tightly by moving them and choosing the right ones. You can also knock off any odd extensions. There are rock walls everywhere built without mortar that have stood for centuries
Well worth the wait, the roundhouse looks class, looking forward to the roof, I’ve seen a roundhouse with a curved roof with an opening to the front , not sure if this is the route you are going but can’t wait .all looks so good, I’m planning a charcoal foundry in my garden this year could be casting about the same time, exciting stuff , thank you for giving me the confidence to do it, your work inspires others , have a good week . Mark
I've been watching for a while and you can definitely see your skill in making videos improving. Seriously one of my favorite youtube channels to watch. This episode even had the construction of a stone age dog house as well!
For spruce or conifer I have found that a saw blade designed for dry wood works best, or anything with small uniform teeth. The blades with big elaborate teeth (that are great for fresh hardwood) tend to get stuck easily.
Absolutely loved every second of this enthralling and very creative film.. Thomas the mighty mule and the Wren 's too-ing and frowing(trogladites).. super atmosphere and general antics''ATVB .. And you have to some carvings , just as one of your subscribers said.. keep um coming
I can't wait to see how this turns out. I just discovered your channel a few days ago and have now watched most of your videos. I love them all. Keep up the great work!
Great watching you guys help Thomas build a Roundhouse! lol! Love this show!
,,👍
i love tis series its so calm and wholesome... watching at 4 am in the morning
Amazing what a difference one well-trained domesticated animal can make.

Sawyers usually spray some kind of lubricant I’m not sure what it’s called though. You can also use wedges at the top if it’s a big log

They are using a hardwood saw. It will bind with soft woods .
Jäger is without a doubt my favorite Smooth Gefixt team member.
Thanks for being kind to your little pony/mule who seems to take his work quite seriously.
id love to see some celtic carvings inside the round house when done lads
Tommy Pouncey yeah good idea
That would be the cherry on the cake
@@holloww_dwella Or even on Cherry wo0d,as the Cake will go oFF!

I enjoyed the historical aspect as well as the narration.
Best series on RUclips at the moment keep up the great work!

I just watched the round house series. It's really good and very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
The amount of work going into this house.. Niet normaal.
In reality, this is around 50+ft of stacked stone drywall, made into a circle
It's incredible the sheer determination you guys bring to bare on this project. Heroic effort!
By the way; Thomas has to be the most beautiful mule I've ever seen.
Thomas is coming along nicely, as is the round house!!!
Keep up the work lads, good content
Imagine it, this house is going to outlast just about anything built today. What a beautiful legacy you're leaving the world!
loving this series. the guys are a pleasure to watch and the scenery is beautiful.
Thanks guys this awesome!
And your camping videos are even more awesome!
Now that's what I call bush whacking 🌲🌳🌿🍀🐎

Amazing video! Can't wait for next week!
Jager says it all at 23:01 and he's probably trilingual at the least. He's got me beat there. Good boy Jager.
It seems he is from Netherlands. Thats why he is trilingual.
Great video, I'm looking forward to the next one!
I've had a really bad night but you've managed to brighten it 😊 thankyou lads
What a good video to round up my day. Please don't 'Roundhouse kick me!

But can’t you basically just push the wall over if there is no mortar or clay or supports?
