Wish they'd included the apparent bad behaviour in these highlights. Looks like Ruud played an amazing match. Hope he can get to the final now. Such a gentleman.

In terms of bad behavior, badmouthing other players, Rune is the new Martina Hingis. His feigned cramps in various matches should also be mentioned. With it he tests again and again, if it does not run well for him, whether the opponent can be distracted by it. You can then observe very well that he runs and jumps off normally in the decisive rallies. Only to then mime the dying swan between the points. Most recently, the audience booed him for this, as it was very obviously fake.

Ruud was consistent throughout the match. The kid has lots of talent and potential, but atm he's a spoiled brat with a bad attitude. I won't go into lengths chastising a 19 year old, but on the other hand his behavior gets on your nerves and it's difficult to root for him, unlike i.e. Alcaraz.

if Zverev beats Nadal Ruud a really good chance, but i don't think he can beat Nadal, his tennis is "too light" if you know what i mean, with his groundstroke speed it's gonna be very hard to make a winner past Nadal. Of course Nadal is way past his peak so nowadays there's always a chance, but it's always hard.

@@Planets89 You're right about him chasing his dreams, but there was really no need to disrespect Casper by telling him to "be quiet" twice. Sure, he is young, but that is no reason to be disrespectful to an opponent who simply asked him a fair question. He's a good player but needs to learn how to respect his opponent and others supporting him.

I’m curious to see if Cilic can keep up with the same serving level he reached in the 1/8 and the 1/4 - his winning chances probably depend on it. Im gonna sum it up for you:
Rune behaved poorly during this match, he wanted almost every mark checked even when the balls were out by a couple of inches. He then yelled at his mum and told her to leave since she couldn’t help him (which she subsequently did). Ruud got annoyed by that and asked Holger during the change over at some point whether he really needs to have all the marks checked by the umpire even when they were clearly out. Rune then replied with a frosty „don’t talk to me“. The match ended on a fh winner on the line, although Rune thought it was out (unofficial hawk eye on tv showed it was good). He then gave Ruud a very frosty drive by handshake without looking at him, and Ruud was seen shaking his head after that, seemingly disapproving Holgers behaviour and handshake. Rune then said to the umpire that „she did a shit job today“. Then it got spicy during press conferences, Ruud briefly commented on the situation when asked, saying something along the lines of „he’s still young, it’s understandable but he needs to mature in the future“ Rune then defended himself by claiming he didn’t yell at his mum to leave ( which was caught by cameras/microphones) and claimed Casper celebrated right in his face in the locker room. Ruuds dad then said that that was a bold lie, and Holgers mum then came in and said Caspers dad was lying and that it did happen. Lot of drama, mostly coming from Rune, with that dubious locker room scene which is hard to prove/disprove (he said/she said situation).
My personal take: Rune lied about not sending his mum away, so it’s not unlikely he was lying again.
He said Casper and his team were in the locker room when it happened, and Runes mum then said Capsers dad (who’s part of Caspers team) was not even there and that it happened before the doping tests and that therefore Caspers dad was lying about it, contradicting her sons earlier statement. I think it’s bs, Rune just seems like a great player but terrible brat, and I think he made that up to make himself look better/ like the victim…

Very disappointing from Rune. He clearly has psychological issues which has been evidenced in recent training videos. His coach despairs of him. Rune needs a phycologist to help him with his mindset which as any tennis player knows is 50% of the game. Well done to Ruud, a number one in the making.

More in between the points, always complaining, grunting, yelling. Called the ref for balls that was far out. Screamed at his mother x5 telling her to leave, and snapped at Ruud when he asked " are we checking every call now"? In the end he didn´t even properly shook Ruud´s hand, thats why he rolled his eyes.
