@@bytesizeclu Hey big respect dude. Thanks for the insight on this condition, I didn’t even know that was a thing. I feel horrible for you, no one should ever have to deal with something like that and I bet you cannot stand people wondering about it like myself. Keep it up man, you are a tougher man than most men can actually honestly claim to be.
When using the Quest as a second monitor, can I interact with the PC's programs using a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected to the Quest, or is it solely for viewing the PC, similar to a virtual desktop? Also, does this cable charge the Quest, or only the device it's plugged into?
If I use my Quest 3's as a PC VR headset (mostly Flight Sim), would I get improved performance with a HDMI/USB3 (and capture card) cable vs a USB3/USB3 cable?
They are different use cases if you are wanting to play PCVR game you will need a high speed C to C cable for the quest link to work reliably, if you just want to mirror or extend a big display the HDMI to C or capture card style cable is better
Could this replace VD for 2d gaming on quest? I use q3 with vd for 2d gaming as I don’t have space for monitors. Can it possibly also do triple monitors for sim racing?
I use a USB-C (Thunderbolt4) to connect my headset to my laptop for Steam VR gaming. The HDMI would be better for reducing compression artifacting, but it wont power the device whilst in use, so dont see this as being useful
I don't get it? Seems like you could just get Virtual Desktop to stream anything from your PC to your headset including all the video you would ever want... And do people really want to hook up gaming devices to VR? Why? Just to look at the same thing as you see on your PC screen only with a big item on your head in 2D? - What exactly does this device give you?
Sure you could use VD but as I say, on some networks latency is high so this kind of cable gets rid of a lot of that. As for gaming in VR, personally I do it because being visually impaired the bigger I can get my screen the better! Or what if someone wants to watch TV but you still want to game? There are a ton of reasons this cable and setup could be useful
Why do you need a capture card c-to-c? Can't one just use a USB-C 3.0 or higher cable? For HDMI only devices, sure, but for laptops, Samsung phones, and others that have USB Alt-Mode (DP over USB), it seems unnecessary ?
The C to C capture card made most sense to me for the majority of the devices I use :) the HDMI link app requires the capture card element to encode the stream a straight C to C cable wouldn’t have the required elements to do that
@bytesizeclu mhh I see. Is there any information on why? Since AR glasses, e.g., NReal, just use a c to c passthrough without any processing needed on either side of the devices, it seems a bit unnecessary for the quest to require it. Will there be an update providing this functionality, or is the type c port on the quest physically not able to handle DP alt mode over type c?
I just got my Quest 3 two days ago and I'm kinda disappointed of the windows desktop quality accessed via Virtual Desktop. I would like to use it for work, but texts in browser windows for examples aren't as sharp as I would want them to be. Would you say accessing the windows desktop via HDMI Link does fix this issue? Also: You said this method would actually only mirror an existing display. So I assume adding additional virtual monitors like in Virtual Desktop wouldn't work with HDMI Link?
It would definitely help with the text compression on desktop yes that’s actually my main use case, when connecting up the PC it will actually just show as a new display so you can mirror or extend which is a nice feature
I've never seen eyes so active in my life. They are actually vibrating.
Yeah, it’s a medical condition sadly!
It's time to talk about it.

Hi can I play Xbox games on my quest 3 with this capture card cable?
Yeah you absolutely can just bear in mind a little bit of input latency!
Can i watch firestick apps on the quest 3 ?
Can I connect my blu-ray 3D player on my meta quest to watch my 3d blu ray movies ?
Thats a very good question, I would suspect so but I doubt it would be able to display the 3D Content
Hey Thanks Robert . My name is also Rob. My quest 3S comes tomorrow. I'm sure I'll have questions. to ask you. Liked and Subscribed🤓

Can a usb c type docking station with multiple hdmi ports work?
It would need to have the actual capture card tech in it, I don’t know of a dock that supports this right now sadly

It absolutely could do yea! I don’t think this can do more than 1 monitor at a time thought sadly

For gaming it’s absolutely not unfortunate but for watching films or a productivity tool it’s a game changer

@DerKeyCee to my understanding the nreal glasses have a sort of built in capture card or at least the similar encoding chips found in the cards

@SjaakSchulteis I set everything to max. I'm only talking about the windows desktop. In games I have nothing to complain about
