I always wondered about formal for woodworking education and was researching. This had good information on the intensive courses. My only question is these courses really don't allow much time for a job. Having to quit work for three months. For most people that would be hard. I was curious what could you do for work during that time or is there time for a side job?
I graduated from CFC's 9-month program and here is my perspective. You have to go into the program with the understanding that is now your full-time job for the next nine months and there is very little time for anything else. Classroom instruction is 40 hours a week but most students will put in 50-60. It's also physically and mentally tiring and nothing like taking a weekend class at Woodcraft. With both the 3-month and 9-month programs there is so much information coming at you it feels like drinking from a firehose.
There was a student that did some telework consulting but they were up till 2am some nights. If you need a physical job during your time in Maine you're options will be limited as much of Midcoast Maine shuts down over the winter.
thanks
Really enjoyed the energy between these three intelligent, kind, curious people. Great questions and answers! I'll be thinking about this episode for a while 👍🏽👍🏽
