Yep, that's correct - RUclips have actually deleted the 'Hames Joffmann' channel, due to the 'impersonation policy'.
Even though to fans it was an obvious parody fan channel, it seems that RUclips deemed it similar enough to the official James Hoffmann channel in terms of name, channel icon etc to act on this policy. An appeal has been declined, which really sucks.

Obviously with this channel being similar, who knows if it will last either. But as a fan of Hames, it's very disappointing to hear that no appeal was even considered, and the whole channel has been wiped.

They shut down a harmless fun parody channel yet keep adult themed content up. Bizzare.
It's because they were afraid that it was going to confuse viewers and believed it was trying to be a fake channel (using a similar name to scam views).
It was done because there are so many fake scam channels for big RUclipsrs...
And it's not like RUclips can personally check each and every one of these b*******....
They use a bot...
And sadly, innocent channels get caught up while youtube tries to clean the trash....

That seems like something that should be enforced only if the impersonated channel files the complaint.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.
I hope you have informed them of the video where James acknowledges and endorses Hames' channel and it's restored. What a crock that YT just shoots first and asks questions never.

James did approve... but this is a RUclips issue, not a James issue. YT don't know (or care) about the context behind the channel, other than it appears to an outsider (or AI bot) as one channel trying to mimic another, due to the visually similar names, and channel pictures (even though we know that's the point). Unfortunate - especially when they were not given any opportunity to change these things, the account was just banned in an instant.

@@Konarcoffee This is totally wrong, they have many automated bots scanning for re-uploads of monetized vids and things like that.

I think the weird thing is that James himself fully endorsed the channel.
Thank you for making this, and hopefully RUclips will reinstate the Hames Joffmann channel at some point.
Tragic. All of the videos were excellent, but the "and I hope you have a good day" compilation is a particular loss for me.
James wishing everyone a great day on repeat is a good way to start the day. I should make a similar compilation, to keep the spirit alive.

Given that Hames was done with permission, this situation reminds me of the time RUclips deleted CGP Grey's channel because they thought he was impersonating his own second channel
Impersonating yourself seems like tricky business. I don't think I could quite get to grips with my own idiosyncrasies enough to imitate myself effectively.

RUclips's 'imposter policy'. Took down the Hames channel as it felt it was too close to James Hoffmann official channel that people might get confused. (That's the theory anyway). Hopefully the decision can get reversed.

@@hoffmanncometh I actually was not interested in the hames joffman channel and I accidentally got myself into those videos a few times even though I had told RUclips to not show it channel to me at all. I believe there actually is something to that claim. A slightly higher effort of making the channel have more of a distinct visual identity in the thumbnails could have been made, a smallish mustache in the thumbnail or whatever the only difference was is actually not that hard to miss.

It is a shame. Does feel like an automated decision though, as any human with 30 seconds to spare would have clicked on one video and realised instantly it was a fan channel.

They (or their automated bots?) must have felt that the channel was too similar by name and image to the original James Hoffmann channel, that it was targeted for this policy. It seems like now, if you have a parody / fan channel, you have to make it very obvious in the name etc, as to avoid getting the same fate. That's why on my other channel (Hance Ledrick) i've added some text in the channel name to indicate it is a fan channel... so it hopefully doesn't end up being deleted in the same way that the Hames Joffman channel has been.
Really sucks, but it's a lesson learned for others (including me) I guess.

It's simply been a SCAM people!! And a massive copyright infringement!
Nobody was being "scammed", and while you could argue whether or not it is copyright infringement or fair use, the copyright holder James Hoffman himself gave the works of Hames his blessing, saying they were "clearly transformative". Apparently it's also thanks to James Hoffman that youtube has reversed the ban and restored Hames Joffman's channel.
