I was 7 when I first saw Star Trek. A civil war had just started, I didn't understand English so well. I worshiped Spock, for his control over his emotions. I pretended I was a crew of the Enterprise, visiting earth, and the horrors of the civil war were just a movie. It worked.

There is something special about Trek. I appreciate post apocalyptic fiction and find it fun, but we need hope. Hope for a better future, a future where mankind is united in greater pursuits beyond ourselves and our pettiest considerations. Hope for a future free of deprivation and destitution. Hope for a future free of discrimination and antipathy. A future where we tread among the stars, boldly going where no one have gone before.
Star Trek is truly on the best things created. It’s inspirational and actually has a moral and message. It’s an amazing and perhaps underrated story that more people need to have respect for and watch. I truly believe that if more people watched Star Trek and learned from it, the world would be a better place.

Like a Black 'captain', 'chief engineer', 'scientist' etc. I am in Aerospace. *I have never seen a black engineer or scientist (except for DEI hires, who did not know anything, and just collected a salary).* There is nothing wrong with such fantasies. But showing Black men as 'chief-engineer' will not make more black men to become engineers. There was a reason why slaves came from West Africa. Hollywood cannot change genetics or evolution. While that makes some startrek episodes cringe-worthy, they are easily ignored.

@@erebostd yes, in tos roddenberry had to make compromises, otherwise it would never been aired I think. But in TNG he was able to show more of his true vision. The Enterprise D was and will forever be my "living room", if you understand what I mean, I think you will. I also like the other ships but the D will be forever Home.

I know there are a lot of folks who just love to rag on JJ’s Trekverse, but one of the things I did like about the JJTrek films, besides the excellent cast, is the music which sets the theme and tone of the films quite well... but I also have a soft spot in my heart for Jerry Goldsmith’s scores for the TOS and TNG movies.
I still remember that first Star ⭐️ Trek movie 🎥 that we saw in December 25th,1979.I was with my cousin when I saw it.The Star ⭐️ Trek series I remember seeing in reruns,back in the early 1970”s.But,looking back,I knew that we grew up ⬆️ with this show.And,those old James Blish books are still for sale in bookstores!
I remember when Voyager premiered . The theme was so riveting, and when the warp nacelles raised before it went into warp blew me away. I jumped to my feet and loudly said Get the f out!!! LOL
In 1967, I was four and we had a tiny color TV. Star Trek made a huge impression on me. I loved the series more than Rat Patrol and Batman. I was enthralled with more than the opening music. I thought that Capt. Kirk was the greatest man next to my Uncle Travis who came to visit us from Vietnam in his highly starched khakis. William Shatner is up there with Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Steve McQueen and Paul Newman.
I know right there just like don't mess with me or I'll shoot first and ask questions later lol. I know this will make people mad but I like to think as Janeway as captain kirk's daughter or just a female version of Kirk cause there so badass.
We are very fortunate that we have these wonderful theme's ,but alas we will never be able to add to them as Jerry Goldsmith has passed on,as so many that where involved in the Star Trek series have now pasted on.I am guessing the William will be the next one we lose as he is in his late 80's now, and for me star trek, will be dead in my mind,I love the way you played this music in the order that you did, and i thank you as i have watched every single show and movie and enjoyed them all,Thank you Gene and all the actors that have been in the Star Trek Universe.
We've lost so many of who made Star Trek, the show we grew to love no matter where in it's running we were introduced to it. The hope and wonder it brought us may have disappeared from the world with each loss but, it will forever live grow and encourage us to share it with more, to further spread the same to all that we may.

wombraider091 - I grew up watching Kirk as a child on the original (and best) NCC-1701. I discovered TNG while in college and began to love the adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard on the 1701-D. I was in my 1st marriage during DS9 and Voyager, so I'm very fimiliar with Sisko and Captain Kate. My second marriage began almost at the same time as Enterprise with Captain Archer. So, you could say that I'm an original Star Trek fan and can appreciate all the TV series and movies. I've seen them all.
I also watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture in the cinema when it was first released. I fell asleep. The next time I attempted to watch it was at Christmas on TV. I fell asleep again. I wasn't dubbed by film critics 'Star Trek: The *slow* Motion Picture' for nothing!
For me, I'd grown up watching Trek and was a part of the first write in campaign to save it on TV! While pregnant with my firs child at age 27 we had to drive out of state to go see the first ST movie and I watched my husband fall asleep and snore! We made it home the following day because it had started snowing while we were in the theater and ended up camped out in a local cheap hotel with me huge, pregnant, and uncomfortable. I was pregnant with my second son for #2. Both sons have always been absolute Trekkies along with me! I've never missed an opening of any ST movies regardless of how old and beat up my body has gotten!
The message and vision of Star Trek embodies hope for humanity - and celebrates the spirit of innovation, exploration, and discovery. Although its depictions may not have always been pretty (or, perhaps consistent) - the underlying themes are life-affirming: Courage, Dedication, Duty, Effort, Compassion, Selflessness, Fairness, Equality, Sacrifice, Freedom, Liberty, Justice.

I bought the sets of DVD's back in 2016 for the 50th anniversary and was watching ST IV The Voyage Home tonight on Christmas Eve. Been sick the past couple of days.
This music brings out so much emotion for me while i was working on my section Growing up with my dad in Gary Hill book The Other Oswald so strange but its true there are even pic of me in the book !

I have all of the movies and when i watch them I'll play the opening theme four or five times before the movie starts. I just can't get enough of the music of Star Trek. It brings tears to my eyes as well.
With all the major captains in the series being still alive I always thought it would be awesome if they did some sort of Captain Reunion special in one of the current star trek franchises. Bring Kirk back somehow, then Picard, Janeway, Sisko, then some sort of time anomalie brings in Archer. Potentially Michael Burnham and Sulu could at least make an appearance, but the special would focus on those who were Captain throughout the entire run on their particular series. This is an opportunity which needs to be seized as Shatner is in his early 90s.

It's Trip & Reed interviewing actors and behind the scenes people. Mist recently it was the makeup artist that designed a lot of the aliens. So far, everyone has been incredibly interesting!
I like all of them but my heart is for 9:29. The truth is that I really can't say one is better than another one, the're all amazing and each one perfectly embodies the spirit of Star Trek in an extraordinary way. Amazing music

Love the poster and having of the Captains in unique uniforms of their era. Janeway pretty much grab the DS9 suit as standard bearer but Sisko getting the First Contact as they use it till the end of the series was fantastic.

Its kinda funny that in the pic all the captains look confident and ready, then there is Archer who looks confused...really captured the feel of Enterprise :)
the thing that most people forget about Enterprise is that that was the beginning, they were just making it up for everyone else to follow. Talk about real pressure, every Starship captain to follow had more guidelines than Archer, he was always having to think on his feet.
Your right, Scott Bakula as Archer seems a bit confused in this collage. Captain Sisko, Avery Sisko, seems to have a "what ever" attitude. Those two shots were probably stills from episodes. The others of Kirk, (Shatner), Picard, (Stewart) and Janeway (Mulgrew) seem to be actual promo shots.
My 2 year old daughter would lay on our bed and watch every Star Trek episode with me. She would sing the theme song with me and we always giggled after hitting the final high note-my DD is 50 now😅

First Contact overture is my favourite Star Trek Track. It's a beautiful throwback to the moment when the ST Franchise had it's Peak!

I like all of them but my heart is for 9:29. The truth is that I really can't say one is better than another one, the're all amazing and each one perfectly embodies the spirit of Star Trek in an extraordinary way. Amazing music

Love the poster and having of the Captains in unique uniforms of their era. Janeway pretty much grab the DS9 suit as standard bearer but Sisko getting the First Contact as they use it till the end of the series was fantastic.
I love the majesty and hopeful joy in the music.

Its kinda funny that in the pic all the captains look confident and ready, then there is Archer who looks confused...really captured the feel of Enterprise :)
the thing that most people forget about Enterprise is that that was the beginning, they were just making it up for everyone else to follow. Talk about real pressure, every Starship captain to follow had more guidelines than Archer, he was always having to think on his feet.

Your right, Scott Bakula as Archer seems a bit confused in this collage. Captain Sisko, Avery Sisko, seems to have a "what ever" attitude. Those two shots were probably stills from episodes. The others of Kirk, (Shatner), Picard, (Stewart) and Janeway (Mulgrew) seem to be actual promo shots.
And Archer really captures the feel of George W. Bush.
Star Trek Enterprise with Archer as Captain is my favorit one.

My 2 year old daughter would lay on our bed and watch every Star Trek episode with me. She would sing the theme song with me and we always giggled after hitting the final high note-my DD is 50 now😅
