I have heard people in America stating that they wouldn't want to be a subject to anyone however I am proud to be a subject of Queen Elizabeth and feel that she is the one that serves us and not the other way around but if ever needed the armed forces would be all to happy to follow any order given by the Queen even if it is the complete opposite to the orders given by the prime minister or government. Our allegiance and our oaths are sworn to Queen and country not government, prime minister or a constitution.

One of the advantages of a monarchy is that the monarch wants to leave the country in a good condition for their children to inherit. A president has a few years to steal as much as he can, a monarch must do what is good for the long term future of the country.

To give an example of the Queen's influence she personally drove a male member of the Saudi Royal family around her estate, which was a bit of a shock for them as women weren't allowed to drive in Saudi, shortly afterwards women were allowed to drive in Saudi. I'm not saying it's all down to her or that she even said anything but she chose to drive to make a point and then things changed.
The Queen is well respected in the UK and deservedly so, to have all that power and to never exert any of it speaks volumes as to the kind of person she is.

since i always learn new things that are interesting from your video since the past few days. I thought i would add a little funny story about me in middle school. like an extra bonus of things you never knew and now you know. anyway:
I remember a time when i was young an acquaintance of mine in middle school asked me to be his "right hand man". At the time I didn't understand what a right hand man means (i was 8). So i said sure, sooner or later i found myself standing in the playground watching my acquaintance, on his knees, ask out a girl. The guy then told me to pass the ring, so what i did was i gave it to some other dude and said that i had to use the restroom.
i ran as fast as my little legs could carry me. it was social humiliation i did not want to be part of. and thank god i did because after just a week they broke up and it would feel really awkward to have some random girl come up to me and ask me why my acquaintance broke up with her. (for the record in those days things got dramatic, even for young kids. like really dramatic.)

A while back it was illegal for women to drive vehicles in Saudi Arabia. During this period the King of Saudi came to the United Kingdom on an official visit. Whilst staying at Buckingham Palace he went to sit in a car ready to tour around London. It would have been a good idea to provide him with a woman driver but he would have got out the car and refused to be driven in this way. Within two minutes a driver arrived no other than HM Queen Elizabeth to drive him. Nothing he could do about it and Saudi law changed shortly after this incident.

with a lot of these, though, you have to think of it practically. Yes, The Queen COULD declare war on a country, but that gets really dicey if it's not in accordance with parliament and the rest of the UK. If she does choose to declare war when parliament doesn't want to, parliament could stage a coup or start a revolution and the war would be in effect, useless.
As for her being ABOVE the law across the globe, yes, in UK law, she may be exempt from criminal prosecution in other countries. But what about other countries' laws? If she breaks a law in say, the US, then yes, BRITAIN can do nothing. They can't prosecute her criminally. However, America could still say that she's breaking the law and prosecute her. If Britain wanted to, they could try to go to war with the US if they did this, but really... what's the point?
As for the Queen criminally prosecuting an, as the video states "subject of the monarch", it's the same way. Yes, she could in theory try to, but Parliament and the people COULD get in the way if they really wanted to.
As for getting all whales that wash up on shore, I assume this is just a thing of property arriving in Britain and the monarchy wanting to be really stingy and take as much as they could. It seems like it has more of a political meaning than a practical use.
Yes, she has a lot of powers, for instance, power of the army and power to pretty much do whatever she wants with the government, but again, this is all in theory. The people could just revolt and take over and do what they want (as they have done in history) or the armed forces could just turn on her, or another country might not like her getting so much power and could invade or declare war on her.
As for not pissing off the Queen, YES, DO NOT FUCK WITH THE QUEEN.
All of what I say here is MY TAKE, it may not be correct, and I'm not trying to sway anyone's opinion, it's just something to think about

It's not because we can't be bothered - it's because she acts as a counterbalance to the possibility of a corrupt/despotic government and can seize power from them in a crisis. Americans who are most passionate about the right to bear arms cite defending themselves from their own government if need be as the number one reason to never change that law. Same basic premise with The Crown - it's a failsafe against a government gone rogue.

in the UK the Queen is ALL POWERFUL
she's also the head of state of 15 countries. (so all of that also applies in places like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica etc etc)
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_realm
the UK is an island of course we have whales that wash up on shore :) whales used to be big business (mostly for oil and baleen) so that's why you would want 1st dibs a whale used to be worth a LOT of money
the queen is the ONLY person in the UK who can declare war, parliament and the prime minister has to ask her permission before declaring war. it is ultimately her decision (in reality tho she will go with what they advise is the best course of action) but she's the one that signs off on it, parliament couldn't use HER armed forces without her permission
if parliament wants to go to war with a country and the queen says no there is no war.
and yes she is diplomatically immune from prosecution for any crime in any country, she wouldn't need to get away with murder, she would just do it and it wouldn't go to trial, she wouldn't even need to answer for the crime

The only power that the monarch has is to dismiss an unpopular or chaotic government. This is done in nations where the monarch is head of state by their Governors General. The GG of Canada can force Trudeau to go to the country. John Kerr did this as GG of Australia in 1976 and sacked the Whitlam govt.

The power balance in the UK is often looked upon that the queen is dangerous and nobody should have that sort of power but I it’s an amazing balance of power that secures the UK to be a stable nation forever. Let me try and explain in the shortest way possible. Yes the queen has absolute power BUT she can only use this power with the support of the UK public (her subjects) if she was to use her power against the population of the UK the citizens would revolt against her backed by parliament and throw her out of power. If a dangerous political power got into parliament and decided to flex its power against the citizens of the UK the queen has the power to stop said dangerous political party from acting against the citizens of the UK as she has supreme power. In effect this causes a power triangle. The queen can’t act against the British people and if she did parliament would gain enough support from the public to throw her out. Parliament can never act against the British people as the queen would gain enough support to throw out. Lastly in the triangle the British public who if ever a time came that a political leader (whether this is the king/queen or parliament) went rogue the British people always have somebody to support and be heard by. There is ALWAYS somebody with enough power to keep the other in check. Both the crown and parliament need the British public’s support otherwise they will be thrown out. To conclude this means that no matter what happens in the future British people will never be ruled by a dictator or somebody who doesn’t treat the people correctly. If you have taken the time to read this very long comment... thank you, please give it a like so more can learn why this system makes the British political landscape so secure!

As much as it seems that the Queens power is limitless, as a country and a peoples, we have a contentious relationship with the monarchy. Quite a few have ended up headless following rebellions (see the creation of the Magna Carta and why and the inclusion of an oath to the people upon coronation that every monarch since the Magna Carta including Queen Elizabeth II, and English Common Law, specifically English because of the make up of the country at the time, the other countries of the UK aren't covered by it).
So it pays for a monarch to be seen to be behaving themselves 😉

The part about being subjects not citizens isn't correct any more though - that changed in the 80s. Though she probably could still seize assets.
On whales - technically all whales, dolphins and porpoises in Uk waters belong to the Queen.
Oh, she can technically still dissolve several other governments around the world too, where she's still head of state.
But Kaiser Willhelm and Tsar Nicholas were her cousins, and it wasn't that long after they were overthrown that she was born - and she lived through the whole Edward VIII debacle, and the break up of the British Empire - she is fully aware of what coud happen if she were too forceful in her use of power.

Not long a go the wife of a US military diplomat hit a motorcyclist and killed him. She fled back to the US using diplomatic immunity.
Though the British government petitioned the US president for her return to face justice, it was denied.

I've seen other US reactors see this video and I think it's a bit misleading. The Queen does have a lot of powers on paper but would never be allowed to use them unilaterally or there'd be a revolution. The best US analogy I can think of is that under the US constitution, state governments are allowed to ignore how people voted for president and just appoint their own electors to vote for whoever. But when certain people advocated that in the recent presidential election (I think in Pennsylvania) they were laughed out of the room and nobody took it seriously as a threat.

She has first dibs on any whales because whales used to be the primary source of oil before the oil industry got started. Also the US has any number of foreign ambassadors and other officials in the country that are above US law. But the US government has to grant them that immunity, and can withdraw it or expel them from the country whenever it wants. And while there would be no legal consequences for any of these people will-fully breaking the law, there could well be serious diplomatic consequences.

Anyone with diplomatic immunity cant be charged with anything..all that happens is they get booted out of the country. There was a recent case in the UK were a guy was killed in a hit and run and the woman (from the US) had diplomatic immunity so couldnt be charged.
