When my niece was born this was the first song she ever heard, I played it for that little newborn and thought about my sister the entire time. I remember being 15 and thinking I was going to lose my twin sister forever, I played it for her as a tribute that no matter what happens there are people around her that have been there and love her and will be there no matter what. I’ll call your mom ❤

As someone who is from a SEVERELY small town. Paul Revere is super deep for me. Small towns have this weird thing of making you want to leave as fast as you can, but they also make it oh so hard to leave. Usually it’s called getting “stuck” when someone who had potential to get out only for them to get stuck in the town. I personally got out… but after you leave it all changes. I know it’s my home, but it’s not. I know the backroads and the mountains, but I’m no longer “local” even though I have the knowledge of one. So when he says “I’m not from around here.” Tears right through me. Because I rode away like Paul Revere, as if my life depended on it, and for some odd reason. That place is no longer mine. And it’s the weirdest/wildest thing ever. Am I hurt? Am I proud?
I don’t know. So at the end of the song about how the world makes so much sense there, but he’s still desperate to leave. It’s such a back and forth feeling. A restless one.

Paul revere is an American historical figure, when the British were seizing gunpowder and targeting patriot leaders before the start of the American revolution he was famous for a midnight horse ride where he rode for 50 miles to warn them in New Hampshire that the British were coming. “Their license plates live free or die.” Live free or die is the state motto of New Hampshire and its in New England, borders the state Noah grew up in. All connected.

When I first listened to You're Gonna Go Far I broke down in tears on my kitchen floor. When I was 21 I moved out of a tough home situation and my Dad was so happy for me. A couple of months later he took his life due largely in part to that same situation. There's always been a little part of myself that feels immense guilt for leaving, like maybe I could've changed things if I'd still been around to help him. Hearing that line "we ain't angry at you love" was like it was coming from him, and that maybe I could forgive myself for doing what I felt I had to. Beautiful song.

I didn't know your dad and I don't know you, but I hope you can recognize that right or wrong, your dad made a decision like mine did. It's up to us to live with it. Your dad loved you, and that's what matters.

Call Your Mom is *it*. It is heart breaking. It is truly so special but Noah, mate, you need to stop with this we cannot take much more of this SADNESS.
As someone who *has* called their mom, as someone who has been in the position of being the one texted/called in this situation, I can promise that this song encapsulates everything. The gut-wrenching fear when you read the words or hear the call, the immediate action of getting into the car and racing down the highway without knowing if the person is even still here. I haven't seen this situation put into words like this in a long time, and I can only be eternally grateful that Noah has shared this.
If you're in pain, you're not alone. We are here with you. There are help-lines, there is help. We love you. Stay with us and keep fighting. And don't forget -
Don't let the darkness fool you, all lights turned off can be turned on.
Also man, fucking brilliant video. Looking forward to more!!!

you're gonna go far hits me in the face, the idea of leaving all you've known to go have new experiences and the immense guilt that comes with leaving those you love and yet the love you feel from them when they only want the best for you wherever that takes you and no matter how far away, the "we'll all be here forever" line drowns me in nostalgia that wraps around like a frozen blanket of time when you return to your little town like nothing has changed from when u left but you've changed and the comfort of normalcy in that place

I think Paul Revere is supposed to be a representation of him day dreaming about leaving his town and getting to a new place where no one would know him. At the end of song it kind of feels like hes snapping out of the dream, looking at his backyard from his car while also giving an ode to homesick with “if I could leave I would’ve already left” love that one but did take me a few listens to try and interpret what he was saying

    • @kaithall3761

I always interpreted it as him being so ashamed he hasn’t gone anywhere or become a “success” in his eyes, so he would pretend he wasn’t from around and hope no one would know him in his hometown. He still dreams of escaping and driving far away, but he knows he probably never will, so he resigns himself to just trying to fade into obscurity in his hometown so that he can’t disappoint/feel shame from them.

Noah is the perfect human in my opinion. He can do no wrong!!! 😂 but seriously, this album is actually my favorite of all time. And I never ever get sick of any of it, after hearing it probably a thousand times. I actually found him on TikTok, before he really blew up, with a video of “growing sideways” and I was hooked from that point. That song is underrated in my opinion - it really resonates with me as someone who recognizes their issues and tries to better their mental health but feels like they’re stagnant and really not progressing - they’re moving on in life but not getting better or worse… “growing sideways” 🥺 but yeah the deluxe edition songs just elevate the album in a way I can’t even explain. Your needs, my needs just DOES something to me - I would probably die if I ever saw Noah live, I wouldn’t be able to handle it 😂
