You actually don't have to void your warranty to swap the bracket. You can just take out the screws along the side of the GPU that connects the shroud to the heatsink.
Hit up ☝️..
I was going to say the same thing. I bought one of these cards and was a little annoyed at the amount of screws I had to take off to get the shroud off. But I was laughing out loud when they pulled the heatsink off and acted like that was necessary.
you don't void the warranty anyway, those stickers mean nothing.
In my country they mean a lot of thing 😴, dealers would have the reason to blame you that pull out the heatsink of their original position. WHICH will damage the card eventually.
So bad consumer policy.
@@BeetleBuns
@@SANGSANTi no it fucking won't damage the card LMAO... anyways, these fellas live in the US, and THAT is where my comment is directed as a result, ya dingus
LOVE the business breakdown...and of course ANY Optiplex content!!! WELL DONE, sirs!
@@notfiveo for almost double the cost---if I'm remembering correctly...I'm not even sure they released it at the time of this video...
I really love your guys' videos. Keep them coming!
I have almost the same build. Dell Optiplex 7020 RX6400, I7-4790. An I run apex medium settings 120FPS. No lag . Medium settings on forza. Mine runs great. Highly recommend. Some higher Tier games struggle (Star Wars elden ring )
Nice
Which star wars game are you talking about? Fallen order? Does it still struggle on the lowest settings?
@@androoo4717 Jedi? The latest single player one. An it doesn’t have low settings (I know surprising) it had medium settings an it was playable, medium 30fps, but still tough.

This era of Dells had a secondary drive caddy that was meant for 2.5" drives. It slotted into the bigger 3.5" caddy. They were also double-sided so you could stick two 2.5" drives in the same caddy. Later models changed the caddy but they also offered M2 slots so you didn't really need to worry about caddies unless you wanted a traditional SATA drive.
I can't believe its working! keep it up! Shared everywhere! You deserve it!
What I like about those older Dell's is that they are simple, easy to upgrade, and built solid. There a perfect PC for a first time gamer.
No it's not, unless you want games from 20 years ago only.
@@JRSping nope , you underestimate those pc my dude
These pcs are great but not easy to upgrade. You can't swap the motherboard or the PSU which is a big compromise for upgradability.
@@drrx4308 yeah but for what they are, they aren't bad. I intend on making one of these into a portable PC for when I go on extended work trips. I was able to get one on FB marketplace for $30 with an i5-10th gen and 16gb ram. Removed the disk tray and HDD, replaced the case fan and cpu cooler, bought the 6400 and a 256 GB m.2. For >$200 I paid all together, it's a damn good machine to throw into a suitecase. I intend on doing some other mods like adding a leather carrying handle, cutting some holes to increase airflow, and adding dust filters to said holes.
Can u play gta five m on them?
Thanks a lot - your video is a Great start to soft soft. I'm onto it !

Just did this, got a decommissioned pc from work, an optiplex 3010 and put the gigabyte rx 6400 in it. That gigabyte card has a low profile bracket and is a dual slot card technically, but it worked wonderfully
What games have you tried? Does the card runs okay with the 3010? Mine has a Xeon e3 1240v2 and 16gb ram but currently running a xfx rx 550 4gb
I appreciated the cost breakdown of the system and detailing the business side of PC building especially concerning additional costs. As someone who has some years of side jobs and self employment history I have of course heard the ole "I could do it myself for less." So many times... The answer is yes of course you could spend your own time and labor and save some money. Every worked on your car instead of paying a shop? Cheaper right? But no guarantees. If you want someone else's time and labor then its only fair to pay for it. I often reply to that with "how much work do you do for free at your job?" That usually brings some perspective. Love the Optiplex builds and even in 2022 they are still a super cheap and effective way to get a starter game box going.

If you actually wanted to know you could always open up GPU-Z and it will tell you what generation and width you're running at.
When I worked in college our 7010s would limit PCIE power draw to 25 watts on the SFF cases (even when running in "high power" mode) so you might be running into that.
Sounds perfect for my budget
man. Thank you!
That was great. Thank you.
I’m definitely going to buy this build from you guys when I get the money

you don't have to void the warranty to change the bracket you could just remove the heatsink cover with the screws on the side not on the bottom, I think
Thanks this video was cool and not to make that mistake
Built my first pc from a sff 4590 system, and it worked great! Except i spent 390 and got a case and a 970
You guys are Optiplex connoisseurs.
Canal mais top que ja vi ate hoje sempre fazendo conteudo top !!!
I think this whole pc building experience have made yall al ot better at these games lol
That 1650 is actually smaller than the SFF GeForce 4 MX420 I had back in the day. I didn't think I'd ever see another card that small with any degree of gaming capability.
NVS 5400 in my ThinkPad impresses me as well. Traded a thin business model straight over for the 1 year older GPU one with a built in dvd rw & possibility of using old butterfly keyboards.
Nvidia A2000 is a Low Profile card that is basically a cutdown RTX 3050. Excellent card that does ray tracing and DLSS but expensive as hell. The GTX 1650 is the last of its breed.
@@JinghisKhan I really hope that they do a next-generation budget card. They've done a wide range of cards for most generations and with modern cards getting more and more expensive, power-hungry, etc. I think my 3080 may be the last high-end card I buy, it'd be nice to have cards aimed at us getting too old to spend this kind of money on PC components.
It’s good to know I got the right Optiplex for my cheap gaming needs (Optiplex 7020).
I had an Optiplex 710 MT version with an i5 2400, 16gigs of ram and a GTX 950 and i've never experienced any of the issues that you came across so it must've been your unit
I needed this vid, 👍🙏
Just bought a refurbished optiplex from Amazon renewed for 250$ on black Friday it has an i5 6500 32gbs of ddr4 and a 1660ti. Since the 6500 is unlocked now I have it over clocked at a sweet 4.3ghz from the original 3.6. Only thing I bought for the system was an aftermarket cooler from noctua to keep the cpu cool. Upgrading my CPU next month to a 6700k or maybe something better. Highly recommend optiplex builds for newbies
I actually have a Oplitex 7010 myself and it's a really good PC for the price. It's fast (mine) and the looks are kind of like a 2016 PC but I'm planning on adding a GTX 650/660 and a clear tempered glass case. I'll get some RGB lights for it and it will look lit. I have a nice monitor but the condition is a bit bad (scratched screen) and I'm planning on getting a nice Asus monitor later on. I will upload a video of my gaming PC build soon!
wow i have never seen that type of cpu cooler thats cool
My first desktop was a small form optiplex like this and I was able to stuff a 1080ti in it, it was pretty decent!
Did something similar but with a GTX 1650 GPU. Also updated the PSU with a 350W one that I found I could fit in the housing. Plays everything I throw at it including Half Life Alex VR.
which font template did you use?
Let’s goo Yk the day is good when toasty bros post
A nice cheap little setup the HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF with the i5-4670S (65w) and the RX 6400. For a little cheaper get the GT 1030 that only uses 30w so the whole system running max out uses around 95w max and pair that with the Dell 27 Monitor: S2721HN (15w) you have a low powered 720p/1080p gaming system.
For that price point being able to hit 60fps at 1080p is amazing! This is a great option for someone interested in playing games while not wanting to shell out tons of cash I might do this myself
Ummm no, the only games you playing on that are e sports type titles at bare minimum playable settings 😂
In that case just get a Series S for under $200 it'll perform 10 times better on those titles! If you want to get playable framerate on Triple A stuff like Spiderman and Cyberpunk you'll need at least a $500 PC
@@jacobporter419 I'm more interested in the process of working with older pc hardware and upgrading it as a side project
I had an Optiplex 790 SFF with a Sandy Bridge Xeon, a GTX 1650 LP (the GDDR6 version) and 32GB DDR3. Played Witcher 3 (pre-NextGen) at 60fps on 1080p Medium.
We need a comparison between the Rx 6400 vs GTX 1630 to know which one is the best.
Love your content keep it up 👍👍👍🔥🔥

r x 6400 is better.
I'm running a Dell Optiplex 9010, It's got a i7 3770 and a GTX 1650 OC GDDR6 with an SSD and its my daily. Actually a reasonable machine. I was given the PC so all its cost me was the GPU and SSD..I'm right on the thermal limit of the GPU and power limit of the PSU but the GPU still boosts past its stock boost speed so I can't complain.
I had a optiplex 3020 sff first which was Gen 2.0 and the RX 6400 was a stuttering mess which really wasn't great for splitgate or SFV. I got a barebones optiplex 9020 sff which was pcie 3.0 and it made such a massive difference. If you're doing optiplex builds try to get one with pcie gen 3.0
Definitely gonna put a GTX 1660 super in
im running a gen3 card on a gen2 pcie. no performance problems. maybe it was something else
@@lxvideostuff7200 but this is a gen4 x4 card...
@@CouchCoach yeah, im not an amd guy...
Are you sure it's Gen 2.0? Because it's a 4th gen i3/i5/i7 PC
4th gen Intel chips are Haswell architecture still works well for gaming 10 years later.
I have an old Lenovo with an i7-4790 and a GTX 1650. Runs everything I throw at it at 1080p. I just hope my power supply doesn’t crap out on me 😳
get an evga 80+ bronze 550w for like 23$ on b stock
Just picked up an optiplex with 6700 i7 woth 16gb ram and 512gb ssd for $115. Was a steal
Yes my friend
I'd expect the blue slot to be the PCI-E 3 one, but it might not be, just because the one closest to the CPU is the primary on any normal motherboard, doesn't mean it will be so on a Dell
I new to this. What's the difference between PCI E2 and E3?
I just bought the rx 6400 and some other little odds and ends for an hp desktop with 16gb ddr3 and an i5 4670, this should be fun
I often use a gen 3 Optiplex with a GTX 1050ti and it works fine in Fortnite, high settings, DX11 and DX12 modes. Might just be the GPU running in an older slot that caused the one in this video to crap out.
How much fps do you get on low settings tho
when i typed in soft soft tutorial i did not expect it to be tNice tutorials good thank you so much aaaaaaa
I just put a 6400 in a SFF Dell Optiplex 7060 with an i7-8700, and it’s surprisingly decent
That’s what I am planning to do how is the power draw i only have the 180w psu
@@Andermattmike Yeah a 180w PSU won't be enough I recommend a 400w psu
from a budget Xeon E3--1230v2, i upgraded to a 2nd hand: Asus A320M Prime -K mobo, Team Elite Vulcan TUF 8x2 3200, R5 2600 CPU. if im starting from scratch id add used RX 580 2048SP GPU and a brand new Corsair CX550 all 50-55$ range can fit the 250$ mark based in regional price available here in the Philippines.
So, I watched this and found a optiplex with a I5 4590 but only 4gb of ram no hdd or OS for 10$ I bought it and put a fan, 1tb ssd and GTX 1030 in it and swapped to 16 gigabytes of ram and it is perfect
i want to see sum minecraft in this kinda of vid pls can yll do it
This may have been a TIM issue between the CPU and the heat spreader. I have used 3470s in modern builds and they work fine.
Agreed, I just put together an Optiplex gaming computer for a friend a few months ago and it doesn't have that stuttering issue. Same 7010, i5-3470, etc. with 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1070 and it runs really well--he mostly played 7 Days to Die, The Forest, etc. so it's nothing too intensive but it runs everything he wants at 1080p no problems.
If I were to upgrade the RAM, what should I use? I was going to get a 16GB kit, and I don't know exactly what to look for when getting PC parts
As shown in thumbnail 120fps, what game can be played at 120fps with this PC?
I have the Dell Optiplex Mid Tower with the RX 580 in it
I was building one from a free pc and had to get a new motherboard luckily it wasn’t too expensive
I have a Dell optiplex 7040 with a 6th gen i5. I gotta give this card a try. Thanks.

The 1050ti you are referring was a single slot full height one from INNO3D.

I started with the 7020 and first updated the pcu to the i7 4790 and got two sets of 8gb 1600MHz ram for a total of 32. Then I attempted to update the sorry excuse for a gpu that came with it but accidentally ordered the gx1060 I think it is instead of a low profile card. So I've now ordered a new case, atx lga 1151 ddr3 motherboard and an evga supernova 650 platinum. I'll be able to get caught up with games released the last few years then I can upgrade the motherboard, psu and ram maybe to ddr5 If it's cheaper and better supported. And reuse the case, psu , ect...maybe get a new gpu by then too lol. Oh if you're getting the optiplex 7020 you need to look at the entire cooling situation. Mine kept crashing after upgrading to the i7 4790. The stock dell cpu cooler is garbage and the shrouds hold heat in. I removed the shrouds and had to get into bios to turn the fans on full out max all the time. I have a new cooler on the way and hopefully that resolves the issue.
Its the PCIE lanes, saw other benchmarks and they had same issues. Nearly 30-40% drop for using older pcie
So the 7020 or the 9020 should be fine right?
this is smart af
I love watching those budget pcs even tho i got a Triple fan Rtx 2080 super and I9-10900k 32gb ram 🤣
I'm using an optiplex with a low profile gtx 1050 (2GB) and an i3-3220. Fortnite runs smooth as butter. I bet there's something going on with that RX-AMD graphics card.

You can go overkill with a rtx a 2000 as it will fit and pulls only 75w (btw you can just take the shroud of by it self)
i’m looking to get into pcs. what would be better to buy? a vrla aurora or the nzxt foundation build ( both are 800$)
damn it looks soo good and beautiful i definitely want it Bro im soo hard to me to buy or build pc , Algeria is soo Expensive in pc parts
No one told me when i did this it would sound like a jet engine on recommended settings
lol at voiding the warranty.. there is two screws on each side to remove the shroud of the cooler.
With these low profile cards probably a slightly easier way to go is to just cut the full profile bracket with a pair of snips to fit the case. That way your not voiding the warranty sticker at all. Gonna be kinda janky looking when you open up the case but since this is a small card it should be fine.

@@lxvideostuff7200 i'm planning to get a 1050 ti or a gtx 1650. Not everyone can afford a decent gpu in these times. Atleast I can run gta V, nfs rivals, battlefield 3, far cry 3 and several other pre-2015 games while I wait for prices to drop. Over here, a 1050 ti goes for over $300. Much more than I paid for the entire PC. The 1650 is even worse at the $450 range.
@@martinking2909 what im saying is that there are better options for the same price.
btw at the moment i see 2nd hand 1050ti for less than $100 and 1650 for less than $200
@@lxvideostuff7200 depends on where you are in the world. I've seen even higher prices in neighboring countries. Of course it will be cheaper in places like the UK and US. The i5 optiplex set me back $150 and after a few upgrades including ssd and a bigger hdd plus the gt 730, the total came to around $250. You should do a rx 6400 vs gtx 1630 comparison and then also on different PCEI slot generations
interestingly the gtx 1630 here in the uk costs more than a 1650 or 1050ti both of which destroy it in gaming
No, not the GTX 1630... It performs worse than a 1050Ti and also has a 6 pin power requirement... there are some 1650s that have no 6 pin connector!
@@RK-zf1jm Yeah, due to the 6 pin power requirement, and the performance, you're better off getting either the 1650, or the 1050Ti... Heck, as long as you have a suitable PCI slot, even the RX6400 would be a better choice.
Did you go on the Dell website and do all the updates and bios updates?

Also you don’t have the take out the screws from the back of the gpu . There are about 6 screws on the side that hold the shroud to the heat sink . And it gives you access to the last screw to remove the bracket .
um that thermal paste is just fine.
