Argentinian here, I can't believe this is real, One Direction was part of my adolescence, I remember when I was 12 I went to their concert and I met them, they were part of my adolescence, the times I felt alone and had problems in my life, they were my support, for some it may sound stupid but those who know know what I'm talking about and now as an adult at 23 years old in college it's hard for me to understand, I always take the train station that is 4 blocks away where they stayed, One Direction definitely marked the childhood and adolescence of everyone, they marked an entire generation with their music in the group, we love you Liam
Mental health issues are so powerful. No matter if you’re rich or have everything in life - if your brain is not properly functioning you have nothing in life. I think if it wasn’t because of his lifestyle and fans he would have collapsed earlier in life. I have been battling my demons my entire life. After 15 years of troubling emotions it gets so damn tiring. I already feel caged, I can’t imagine not having a minute to myself in peace without someone watching what I do constantly. I hope he can now rest in peace. Life is beautiful and life is horrible. Sometimes we think something else could have been done but sometimes simply not. My partner’s uncle jumped in front of a train and it wrecked the entire family but only they know what they were feeling to feel in such despair. I never was a huge 1D fan, but there was this one Just Dance level of one of their songs "You don't know your beautiful" on RUclips that in elementary school my class used to do on indoor recess, which was always fun. Though, its still sad to see him go. RIP Liam Payne
I didn't know this guy until a couple of days ago (actually I did know the name of the group he had sung in, but I'm 58 and definitely not in that type of music). Nevertheless, I feel very sorry for the human being, as he seemed a good guy, also for his family and close friends. His Dad is these days in my hometown and yesterday it was very moving to see him visiting the place where his son died. RESPECT.

I am totally in shock thinking about the tragic end of a brilliant lyricist, sweet person and talented singer so early. After 1D, Liam's radical changes made me worried. I have seen many close friends of mine using substeances closely. So watching his physical changes so often, made me worried about his mental health. I suspected that he is under influence of drugs or so. But I also thought that he is a responsible person, so he would never cross his limits. From thin to muscular back and forth was really noticeable. I was shut my lips so far, because saying something negetive in direction fandom is like digging my own grave. I am a directioner by heart and my opinion sometimes made me toxic fan. But what they don't try to understand that I want good for those boys. During Corona lockdown he used to do face time regularly he looked genuinely happy to interact with his fans. But sometimes he also behaved funny which was not very Liam like behaviour with which we are used to. Many fans sarted to worried about him that time too. Moreover the hiatus of the band changed all 5 boys' lllife instantly. Harry, Louis, Niall even Zayn moved on in different ways and achieved success almost in everything they did with sold out tours all over the world. But what about Liam? Only one music album, few solos and few stage show, including some private parties. Was he deserved what he gets in the name of success? Watching his friends' success, comparison comes easily to his mind. And it need no rocket science to think that he was going through a lot of burdens and drowning in depression. Alcohol and other substances uses, dark thoughts came as a baggage too. He gave his best to hide his feelings with his gorgeous smile. After breaking up with Maya Henry, whatever confidence, hope he had just vanished. Beside some of his recent videos, pictures, mostly posted by his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, Liam's actions seemed unnatural and extra too which a red alarm😢. His expectations for himself, his ambitious outlook, managing a decent life for others and fans just the last straw. I have a very soft corner for him. Perhaps these changes worried me for long time. And I feel so relieved after pouring my heart out finally.😢

It's really hard not to blame the ex, IMO. If she, with her powerful and wealthy family background plus social support system, with the Atlantic ocean between her and Liam, felt so threatened by him, she should have done the right thing and followed due process. Talk to his family, friends, and management. Report him to the police. File a court case. Basically, do it properly, have your evidence checked, and give him the right of reply in an environment which is not degrading to him. She bypassed all of that to unleash social media on him because she had a vendetta. She couldn't even vent in a blog post, she had to write A BOOK. That book wasn't even non-fiction, it was FICTION so she say anything without evidence and no one would hold her accountable. She strategically had him trashed for several months, because she wanted to take away his 1D fanbase first. Defang him. Every couple of weeks I was reading statements from her like, Liam didn't get along with the other 1D boys, and Zayn threw Liam against a wall. (She capitalized on Zayn's comeback to trash Liam too). After all this was done, she went ahead and sued him. Because his reputation had already been damaged, his record label and PR team both deserted him. This woman strategically cornered him. She wanted everything he had, and she got it. Imagine being in Liam's position. Record label gone, PR team gone, global hate on social media, expensive public lawsuit against a woman with a legal army behind her. How was he supposed to deal with all of that, particularly with his declining mental health over the last year? Was there any hope of him recovering his life and career after this mess? Was it even worth the fight? It is terrifying to imagine how cornered he must have felt in the last days of his life. I completely understand why he felt pushed towards that balcony. Of course we must not allow anyone else to be bullied into suicide. On the contrary, we need to point out her mistakes, and the mistakes of participating netizens, as a way to stop bullying people into suicide. We need ethics and protocols around social media and abuse allegations. Not to mention the principle of equivalence. It's an EYE FOR AN EYE. NOT my eye for your reputation, career, mental health, friendships, son's future, family's trauma, etc.

I don't remember where I read it, but the article said he might be unconscious when he fell off from his balcony because his body's position on where he fell at, showed he wasn't able to protect himself from the fall. And I also watched a clip from instagram reels, where a man was being interviewed, as he was just perfectly below Liam's room and saw Liam falling from his balcony. He stated that Liam passed out in the lobby, almost convulsing and the staffs brought him back to his room, called 911 and asked to send someone because they think his life might be in danger. So it got me thinking, what if he was hallucinating because of the substances and was trying to sober up or maybe sleep away and wake up in a few hours, clean himself and get back home to his girlfriend. It's just so sad to think that he might have died on accident, but a few people commened he jumped on purpose to end his life because of his mental struggles. Liam was such a big part of my childhood, as I watched him and the rest of one direction as a little girl and I loved them and their music so much. Now that I've became an adult, it felt like I just lost someone in my family because of how long I've known him. He feels like a family to me and I hope he finds peace in heaven, because he won't feel pain anymore.

I didn't know this guy until a couple of days ago (actually I did know the name of the group he had sung in, but I'm 58 and definitely not in that type of music). Nevertheless, I feel very sorry for the human being, as he seemed a good guy, also for his family and close friends. His Dad is these days in my hometown and yesterday it was very moving to see him visiting the place where his son died. RESPECT.
He was such a pure soul, he wanted somebody to talk to him.

I am totally in shock thinking about the tragic end of a brilliant lyricist, sweet person and talented singer so early. After 1D, Liam's radical changes made me worried. I have seen many close friends of mine using substeances closely. So watching his physical changes so often, made me worried about his mental health. I suspected that he is under influence of drugs or so. But I also thought that he is a responsible person, so he would never cross his limits.
From thin to muscular back and forth was really noticeable. I was shut my lips so far, because saying something negetive in direction fandom is like digging my own grave. I am a directioner by heart and my opinion sometimes made me toxic fan. But what they don't try to understand that I want good for those boys.
During Corona lockdown he used to do face time regularly he looked genuinely happy to interact with his fans. But sometimes he also behaved funny which was not very Liam like behaviour with which we are used to. Many fans sarted to worried about him that time too. Moreover the hiatus of the band changed all 5 boys' lllife instantly. Harry, Louis, Niall even Zayn moved on in different ways and achieved success almost in everything they did with sold out tours all over the world. But what about Liam? Only one music album, few solos and few stage show, including some private parties. Was he deserved what he gets in the name of success? Watching his friends' success, comparison comes easily to his mind. And it need no rocket science to think that he was going through a lot of burdens and drowning in depression. Alcohol and other substances uses, dark thoughts came as a baggage too. He gave his best to hide his feelings with his gorgeous smile.
After breaking up with Maya Henry, whatever confidence, hope he had just vanished. Beside some of his recent videos, pictures, mostly posted by his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, Liam's actions seemed unnatural and extra too which a red alarm😢. His expectations for himself, his ambitious outlook, managing a decent life for others and fans just the last straw.
I have a very soft corner for him. Perhaps these changes worried me for long time. And I feel so relieved after pouring my heart out finally.😢

He was already on drugs since 1D era.. But he had 4 best lads by his side, to support and bring him back.. But after the hiatus, he was lost.. No real friends anymore and seemed forced to pave the way as the other boys.. He couldn't handle it as he was indeed already professional before 1D was formes, as Zayn said.. It was tough, and no right persons with him.. Poor soul.. If he could see all the love we got for him as of now, he would have known that the fans were still supporting him.. It was a pity, in his last months, he was bullied online and things were getting worst from there.. Hope that was what happened and not existing fishy things surfaced were the cause.. Hope all 4 boys are all alright and in good hands. Tough one, music industry... RIP Liam.. Fly High ❤

Mental health is nothing to joke about and it should be taken more seriously Liam helped me through my hardest a and darkest time in my life my whole childhood got smashed because of him being gone if your struggling with health find someone to talk to rather a therapist a family member or a friend I don't have anyone to talk about it so I want others to do it you never know what is going on in someone's head people with depression and mental health are great in hiding their pain behind smiles please take care of yourself

I will not blame the ex but it's silly to say she was surprised, how can anyone be surprised if he kept saying he had issues?? Like really...
It's really hard not to blame the ex, IMO.
If she, with her powerful and wealthy family background plus social support system, with the Atlantic ocean between her and Liam, felt so threatened by him, she should have done the right thing and followed due process. Talk to his family, friends, and management. Report him to the police. File a court case. Basically, do it properly, have your evidence checked, and give him the right of reply in an environment which is not degrading to him.
She bypassed all of that to unleash social media on him because she had a vendetta. She couldn't even vent in a blog post, she had to write A BOOK. That book wasn't even non-fiction, it was FICTION so she say anything without evidence and no one would hold her accountable. She strategically had him trashed for several months, because she wanted to take away his 1D fanbase first. Defang him. Every couple of weeks I was reading statements from her like, Liam didn't get along with the other 1D boys, and Zayn threw Liam against a wall. (She capitalized on Zayn's comeback to trash Liam too).
After all this was done, she went ahead and sued him. Because his reputation had already been damaged, his record label and PR team both deserted him. This woman strategically cornered him. She wanted everything he had, and she got it.
Imagine being in Liam's position. Record label gone, PR team gone, global hate on social media, expensive public lawsuit against a woman with a legal army behind her. How was he supposed to deal with all of that, particularly with his declining mental health over the last year? Was there any hope of him recovering his life and career after this mess? Was it even worth the fight? It is terrifying to imagine how cornered he must have felt in the last days of his life. I completely understand why he felt pushed towards that balcony.
Of course we must not allow anyone else to be bullied into suicide. On the contrary, we need to point out her mistakes, and the mistakes of participating netizens, as a way to stop bullying people into suicide. We need ethics and protocols around social media and abuse allegations. Not to mention the principle of equivalence. It's an EYE FOR AN EYE. NOT my eye for your reputation, career, mental health, friendships, son's future, family's trauma, etc.

It is sad to see sometimes how the highest desires of someone's heart end in such a bad way. Many young people have been broken by fame. Or is it their managers trying to make as much money as possible from them and exploiting them what really kills them...?

I don't remember where I read it, but the article said he might be unconscious when he fell off from his balcony because his body's position on where he fell at, showed he wasn't able to protect himself from the fall. And I also watched a clip from instagram reels, where a man was being interviewed, as he was just perfectly below Liam's room and saw Liam falling from his balcony. He stated that Liam passed out in the lobby, almost convulsing and the staffs brought him back to his room, called 911 and asked to send someone because they think his life might be in danger. So it got me thinking, what if he was hallucinating because of the substances and was trying to sober up or maybe sleep away and wake up in a few hours, clean himself and get back home to his girlfriend. It's just so sad to think that he might have died on accident, but a few people commened he jumped on purpose to end his life because of his mental struggles. Liam was such a big part of my childhood, as I watched him and the rest of one direction as a little girl and I loved them and their music so much. Now that I've became an adult, it felt like I just lost someone in my family because of how long I've known him. He feels like a family to me and I hope he finds peace in heaven, because he won't feel pain anymore.
Yes, this is an awful tragedy ..Mourn but learn...and be mindful of your direction in your life and live your very best life seek help...You are loved more than you know....know the signs of someone needing help. Help them truly help them.

Liam’s death reminds me of Kurt Cobain’s death. Both of the artists are influenced by alcohol and drugs at such a young age and they both died very young. Liam, 31, and Kurt, 27. The deaths of these two are so tragic and most people are devastated by these. RIP to both Liam James Payne and Kurt Donald Cobain. Their music will always be remembered forever.

I wasn't part of the whole 1D mania as such, but as a kid in the 90s OF COURSE they affected me in one way or another, along NKOTB etc. Hearing of how Liam was eaten up and spat out by BoyBand culture makes me feel desperately sad and horrified! May I simply ask, everyone, if you see someone struggling, BE THERE for them. This recent horror should NEVER have happened, but I know many loving ppl tried to help.
