Howie is absolutely correct! The biggest issue here is mental health. It's ridiculous to hold the TV shows that made these people famous accountable for what they do a decade plus later
If they offered them support while they are rising to fame it would make a world of difference. I don’t want him on Canada’s got talent with his attitude
Katie Waissel proved herself to be completely unprofessional during this interview. She didn't even deserve the platform you granted her through her appearance. Her points of view are ridiculous.
Ester, I totally agree with everything you have said. You are the only one on that panel along with Piers that have talked any sense. Good on you🥰 keep doing what you do. Why did Ester get so little air time? She has so much intellectual input to give. Much love from Kenya 🇰🇪

Did she care about that old man’s mental health? Of course not! And she was a nutcase on that show she clearly has a short fuse.
As Liam mentioned in his podcast, during xfactor, he was left, as a child , in a hotel room, told not to leave, WITH a fully stocked mini bar. This is what started his issue with alcohol (party for one, he called it!) and ultimately what then contributed to him losing his life. Had there been sufficient safeguarding from Syco, then this would never have happened in the first place. I know there are many contributing factors here, but maybe had he not been put in this situation, at such a young and impressionable age, things might have ended differently. More control measures need to be put in place for the underage contestants, as they need it most.
@@LadyBird-n2t What are HER choices? She was abused by the British public for years in the most horrific ways and the GP still won't accept that? It's insufferable.
Everyone is talking about Liam Payne in the state he was in now in his passing. Why is no one talking about his menthal health and drinking problems that is rooted back to when he was a member of One Direction. When he was just a young man and had to deal with the pressure of fame. He talked about it many times and no one took countablility to help him before he spiraled down in addiction to alcohol and drugs. As he was saying on interviews. After they where done with being on the stage. They where locked in hotelrooms with acsess to the minibar. Was it so hard for someone to just confiscate any alcohole and go in and talk to him and make sure he was ok? It should be a legal guidens and service to any young boys and girls that enter into the music industry.
He was an adult, a 31 year old man. He is responsible for his decisions himself. He paid consequences of HIS actions. Ppl pick a mental health as an excuse for any action. I am tired of that.
OMG…what happened to Liam, as tragic as it is, is Liam’s responsibility, no one else’s. Life is hard. Everyone has it hard. You are responsible for your own life. Period. Simon has no responsibility in this. Liam was on the show a very long time ago
OMGgosh, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy could have been his handler. She worked in a Bar named Ritual when they met. Beyonce was at the same hotel as Liam. P Diddy was arrested 16th September. Liam died 16th October. What if Liam went into witness protection before Diddy goes to trial.
Liam having responsibility for his actions, which he did, for only he could save himself, does not mean Simon has no responsibility. If your going to make millions off a teenage boy, you have a duty of care towards them.
It’s absurd to think the talent show has to have a lifetime duty of care. What about Liam’s family, Cheryl, his fiancée that most likely knew about his relapse, etc. absurd!
Indeed. Furthermore, who on earth would want the talent show execs to provide that care? I sure the heck wouldn't. This care is supposed to come from your own care system, your beliefs, worldviews, people you confide in and open up to (professional or other) etc.... I've struggled with things under different employers, but I went to my wife and friends to talk things through. I wouldn't want the company I work for to provide some weird type of counselling for me. That would almost seem invasive.
We really don't know what happened. We do know he was doing a boatload of drugs at the time. Liability, yes, while he was on the show. There is no liability once the show was over and many years down the road. Katie Waissel is deluded into thinking otherwise.
My goodness, Katie might be the most insane person I’ve seen on this show. No self control of her emotions. That’s saying a lot, Katie start taking responsibility for your actions and get some help!
No one is responsible for anybody! You are your own person ,can you help someone? Sure but it comes down to that person wanting to do better and getting the help they need.
I dont particularly care for the Talent shows and I never saw much of Howie Mandel's comedy act, but I am a big fan of him because he is always so introspective. He has dealt with mental health issues his whole life and he isnt afraid to talk about them in an attempt to destigmatize the topic. Hes a very smart man and he seems to more importantly be a very GOOD man and I am a fan of him because of that. Very glad to hear his voice on this very tragic topic
Who made Katie an expert on mental health? Liam had serious mental health problems and first, it is his family and good friends who should have been at his side to get him through his addiction. Regardless of his age, when someone is in such a dark place not everyone can pull themselves out of that dark hole. It takes all the love that can be given to pull an addict out of that darkness.
See the way it is that if they are continually successful making money having concerts across the world then it is them and their talent that got them there. But when it goes south like it did for Liam it is everybody else's fault. It's typical victimhood narration and people glorifying it
Liam was a beautiful talented ❤ young man. No one is perfect we all have our demons. Some have it all yet still struggle inside with some kind of childhood trauma which festers out of control during adulthood temporarily filling the void of emptiness inside 😢
She was bullied on an international level in an absolutely horrific way by the great British public who sadly still won't take responsibility for absolutely destroying her.
Her personality was obvious the moment she auditioned in 2010. She was unlikeable. Not necessarily her fault because unfortunately narcissists don't know they are narcissists. She doesn't realise that she perpetuates her own mental health problems by believing that she is the victim and believing that nothing is her fault. From watching her now, she hasn't learnt or grown, she is stuck in the past behaving like a teenager rolling her eyes, shaking her head, playing with her hair, condescending tone, saying she has better things to do and arguing with everything. Narcissists need constant attention and when they can't get what they want and the attention they crave they play the victim and assume it's someone else's fault. Lots of people that appear on those shows have had careers out if it, not big careers but many are content with their lives. Some personalities will never be satisfied with what they have.
Please … never have this “ Katie “ on ever again. She is clearly too immature and what’s more she can’t sit still and stop the dramatics. It’s completely distracting.
Where are the families in all of this? The true duty of care should come from the family first and foremost. Liam Payne attempted X Factor twice. The thirst was real and he made it. Most bands have a 5 year life span. Everyone in the industry knows that.
This debate was supposed to be about Liam and only Liam, but they all ended up picking on each other most of the time (apart from Esther K), it was so disrespectful & embarrassing towards him.
When things go well, it’s because of us - our abilities and talents. When things don’t go so well, it’s somebody else’s fault. It’s not about kindness. It’s about taking responsibility.
"The Brit girl". Apart from Howie, they are all brits. It's like if I were watching an American show with an American host, 3 American guests (2 female, one male), and one British and then I said "the American girl".
I think an important question to ask is WHEN Liam was first exposed to alcohol and hard drugs like crack and cocaine. If it was during his time on One Direction, especially in the early years when he was a minor, then YES, Simon Cowell’s company absolutely holds some responsibility here. Who was watching over these boys as they were travelling from country to country and hotel to hotel to make sure they weren’t being exposed to or offered stuff they should not have been?
They were exposed to way too much, way too soon, and Syco could've prevented A LOT of it. When you accept responsibility for someone else's child, it means ACTUALLY being responsible in the way that you care for them.
That’s the angle piers kept trying to introduce with the tenth place shtick. Didn’t really work, it’s not surprising they all got screwed up by that experience. Saying that it’s all fair game because they might get famous is a shallow defence for those shows.
the woman in the white shirt is clearly having some sort of a mental meltdown, i don't think it was a good idea to have her on given how volatile she is.
@@Paradox370 she looks like she's on something, eye balls wide, chewing her mouth, rolling her eyes, chatting rubbish, can't keep still and her facial expressions are out of this world. She should not be given time on any platform she's out and out rude and disrespectful
Big shout to Esther. Shes a crucial ingrediant on the show . Shes brings great common sanity . Shes spot on in this debate . Piers , you should have let her have the last word this time . She deserved to prevail against that mentally "unbalanced" and affected , Katie .
I think Esther is a little confused citing Beyoncé as being someone who has her act together… I’ve no idea if Beyoncé has or not but I’m not sure I’d cite her as an example in this case having seen the amount of photos of her at P Diddys parties and seeing her hanging out with him so much…
The problem with these arguments is that people today don’t take responsibility for themselves. It was obvious that Liam had issues long ago and he has a family to care for him. The parents have a duty to be an advocate for children in show business
I'm perplexed as to why Katie cant see how ridiculous it is to suggest that an entertainment company has a legal duty of care 14 years after they left the show. Sure, they were kids then, but now they're all grown and have to take responsibility for their choices. If you want to be famous, you should know what you're signing up for.
29 дней назад
They don't have a legal duty, but they started this ball rolling. That show eats people alive and anyone with half a brain could clearly see, when he auditioned, Liam was different than the others. He was a lot more vulnerable. Many people have sacrificed their careers and walked away from those shows, in particular, Simon Cowell, because of what they...and he...do to you. Because of how bad they are.
I would argue that making the decision to go on the show in the first place is what gets the ball rolling. And yes, all reality / talent shows chew people up and spit them out. That's the nature of the beast and the risk you take when you sign a contract to be on a show like that. Liams parents would have signed that contract for him. I understand that emotions may be running high at the moment given the unfortunate events that occurred, but Katies argument is still ridiculous.
How ironic. A mental health episode ends with everyone bashing and bullying and not letting others speak or be validated. Amazing.

I thought the same, but now I question myself...look into the connection that Simon sold Liam to Diddy...Maybe she was onto something?
She says she didn’t want to be on the panel? Hmm… I wonder why she has been on multiple talent shows and now this…? She just wants attention and that’s it. Pretty obvious really!
Am worried for her son cause she clearly has serious mental health issues that blur he judgement and rationale thinking or touch with reality….she is nut!
Howie is absolutely correct! The biggest issue here is mental health. It's ridiculous to hold the TV shows that made these people famous accountable for what they do a decade plus later
Lmao, no. The biggest issue here is Hollywood being full of predators that create those mental health issues in the first place.
I can't agree more
Let’s not forget drugs do cause mental health issues.

Katie Waissel proved herself to be completely unprofessional during this interview. She didn't even deserve the platform you granted her through her appearance. Her points of view are ridiculous.
She is unbelievable bad mannered.
She made everything about herself
Ester, I totally agree with everything you have said. You are the only one on that panel along with Piers that have talked any sense. Good on you🥰 keep doing what you do. Why did Ester get so little air time? She has so much intellectual input to give. Much love from Kenya 🇰🇪
That woman is classic example of “I want to be a victim”
she went on Celebrity Big Brother and an old sweet man Christopher Biggins made a light joke about people from Jerusalem and because this Katie is descendant from there she started crying made it into a big deal got this guy thrown out of the house and labeled a racist and antisemite. Did she care about that old man’s mental health? Of course not! And she was a nutcase on that show she clearly has a short fuse.

Its more a case of narcissism not mental health. If you know you know.
Please no more James and definitely no more Katie, she’s unhinged.

I often wonder how anyone can end up as idiotic as Jamsie boy
@terencemarshall not a great analogy as you do in fact need the colour blue to make green.
James is terrible. I wish they'd send home back to his hole.
add the creepy bald narcissist to that list too please.
Howie Mandel you are speaking the truth !!! So wise ! The world needs more like you and more mental health 💜from Canada
It was indeed a tragedy but I totally agree with Esther, at the age of 31and a father he had all the time and money to get himself sorted.
Yes absolutely!!
Alcoholism, drug addiction, are diseases. How easy that is forgotten

Howie's comments nails it. We don't treat mental health the same way we would a physical issue.

He was a child
So very well said 🎯

OMGgosh, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy could have been his handler. She worked in a Bar named Ritual when they met.
Beyonce was at the same hotel as Liam.
P Diddy was arrested 16th September.
Liam died 16th October.
What if Liam went into witness protection before Diddy goes to trial.
Yes!!
@erzsebethyoung Somebody forgot to take their meds .... you sound ridiculous
Liam having responsibility for his actions, which he did, for only he could save himself, does not mean Simon has no responsibility. If your going to make millions off a teenage boy, you have a duty of care towards them.
💯
When does this new generation take responsibility for their own action and stop blaming everyone else? Grow a set! (Figuratively speaking)
Can we all just take a moment to look away from the trainwreck Katie and James were and behold how beautiful Esther is?

Absolute Queen 👸 ❤
Why does her appearance matter? If you think she made better points, then say that
Irrelevant comment
@@MVK123 because I chose to admire her appearance, its that simple.
Dont think thats what was said or meant. They do while they are on the show and thats what was stated.
this is just more about its everyone elses fault and no one will take personal responsibility
I think she was meaning if the duty of care was there and actually worked from the beginning things might have been different
My goodness, Katie might be the most insane person I’ve seen on this show. No self control of her emotions. That’s saying a lot, Katie start taking responsibility for your actions and get some help!
Well said Howie!! Thanks everyone and a special thanks to Piers great channel.
No one is responsible for anybody! You are your own person ,can you help someone? Sure but it comes down to that person wanting to do better and getting the help they need.
Can Katie stop doing these interviews. She had her 5 minutes of fame 14 years ago.
She had about 3 minutes. Maybe the world still owes her 2.
We are all responsible for the mental health of other people? That's a crazy statement. I'm responsible for my OWN mental health, that's it.
I think he even initially said we're all *legally* responsible. 😅
Exactly
I feel like societies and the collective culture can have something to do with it. Which is made up of individuals.
You are society.
That's selfish and lacks humanity
Howie is so right about the lack of mental health care in the US - from an RN who sees this every day in her profession!
I have no knowledge about Liam and his situation but can just say that all the help in the world will not help a person that do not want to be helped
💯
True. You cannot help anyone who cannot help themselves.
Katie Waissel - nightmare personality
Insufferable
Who made Katie an expert on mental health? Liam had serious mental health problems and first, it is his family and good friends who should have been at his side to get him through his addiction. Regardless of his age, when someone is in such a dark place not everyone can pull themselves out of that dark hole. It takes all the love that can be given to pull an addict out of that darkness.
As a recovering addict you wont stop until you take responsibility for your actions.
Katie is so insane that James actually doesn't stand out as the weird one here.
That’s what I thought , and he was quite content to sit back and let her take centre stage lol 😂😂
Grown adults need to take responsibility for themselves. Period.
Very true and everybody has a friend or family member they can talk to if they wish
See the way it is that if they are continually successful making money having concerts across the world then it is them and their talent that got them there. But when it goes south like it did for Liam it is everybody else's fault. It's typical victimhood narration and people glorifying it

Why was she bullied?@@Divasdinosaursanddemons
@@BigTonyRockets good question.

Where are the families in all of this? The true duty of care should come from the family first and foremost. Liam Payne attempted X Factor twice. The thirst was real and he made it. Most bands have a 5 year life span. Everyone in the industry knows that.
where was his family? his mates, they all knew he was taking drugs and drinking. They were in denial, they all knew.
This debate was supposed to be about Liam and only Liam, but they all ended up picking on each other most of the time (apart from Esther K), it was so disrespectful & embarrassing towards him.
It was only the two in between Piers and Esther that embarrassed themselves.. Most of the time was taken up by their childish antics..

It was, started with the alcohol when they were in hotels and weren't allowed outside their rooms
👏👏👏
They were exposed to way too much, way too soon, and Syco could've prevented A LOT of it. When you accept responsibility for someone else's child, it means ACTUALLY being responsible in the way that you care for them.
Cocaine is crack, there not two different drugs🙄

That’s the angle piers kept trying to introduce with the tenth place shtick. Didn’t really work, it’s not surprising they all got screwed up by that experience. Saying that it’s all fair game because they might get famous is a shallow defence for those shows.

@user above - What do you want them to do? Do you want them to pay for counselling for every person that was ever on the show?
I would argue that making the decision to go on the show in the first place is what gets the ball rolling. And yes, all reality / talent shows chew people up and spit them out. That's the nature of the beast and the risk you take when you sign a contract to be on a show like that. Liams parents would have signed that contract for him. I understand that emotions may be running high at the moment given the unfortunate events that occurred, but Katies argument is still ridiculous.
The damage was done to those 5 boys by year 2..
