Great video! Wall vent question: I’m told I need a wall vent to provide ventilation in my basement furnace room. It shares a wall with my drywall finished family room. If I want a vent narrower than the drywall stud opening (14 1/4 in.) how would the Aria wall vent be secured? Would small pieces of would need to be nailed to the studs to narrow the opening?
The Aria vent would go on the family room side of the wall. On the wall of the furnace room, the hole needs to be finished. Would an ugly old-fashioned inexpensive metal grill register/bent cover be okay? Thank you.
Is there any reason why you didn’t use tape with the first compounding? I’ve seen a bunch of videos doing the install and they do do use the see-through tape when doing that. Is it better without?
@kenc74 the structure of the frame removes the need for tape. It would be like putting tape on a corner bead. 👍
How much time did it take excluding plastering?
2 hrs.
where can I find the fan, or the whisper fit DC fan works? thanks
In Canada we tend to go to suppliers like Desco or even Home Depot. If you're in US I'm not sure exactly.
I didn’t see any special framing done on this. Is there concern for drywall eventually failing from the weight of the fan?
I did add in blocking, I noted this in the video, but to film it is very hard as it's a tight attic. Simply block between rafter cords to the dimension of your fan. Pretty straight forward 👍
do you recommend plastic (Lite) or steel (Luxe) for the bathroom? worried about humidity corroding steel but is it still better than plastic? Thanks!
You can do metal for paint ability. The plastic drywall pro is ok, metal won't rust, it's powder coated, and if you scratch the metal bare, just do a primer touch up.
Hi, i have read some reviews on these vents restrict airflow, would you say this is true? Thanks
For fans on intake, they work well. I can't state what their Flowrate is, but they're pretty good overall and don't seem to be restricting airflow to any noticeable amount
Which motor do you recommend buying?
I like Panasonic whisper quiet. The cfm is based on bathroom sqft too.
Will this work in USA?
What is the difference between the Lite vent and the Luxe vent? Does the Lite have a plastic cover, and the Luxe has a metal cover? Thanks
thats right
Can I put this in the shower vs outside of the shower ?
Bathroom fans typically don't go inside the shower area. You're welcome to try it, but speak to your local building code inspectors on this ruling.
Many people say that these look sexy but do not give the same rate of air as required by the room size. These can cause loss of enough air to the room.
I can't disagree but the manufacturer's say they reach the requirements somehow. I have heard this statement before, but honestly can't say for sure as each size has its square footage ratio.
@@HandcraftedbyChrisPalmer your videos are awesome man great learnings and very entertaining!
It would almost certainly increase static pressure. However if you use a Panasonic fan, it has "sure flow" which measures static pressure and compensates by adjusting the fan speed.
@@PhillyFixedawesome, which model of panasonic?
@@VP411Designs I believe all of them have it - WhisperGreen, WhisperFit, etc.
How do I install this if I have shiplap on the bathroom ceiling.
You don’t.
Is that good for nail salon
it's just a nicer way to conceal the ugly fan vent covers, so yes it will work wherever you have a fan :)
No one talks about the air flow with these things….. is it the same or more restrictive?
I'm told they maintain what is required but you may have to ask the company some Technical questions for your area. Always best to consult a tech.
Labor cost

@@HandcraftedbyChrisPalmer I am doing a big house and the builder wants these installed and finished I have never seen these before
@@dartstud2002 There's only one thing you may run into, the inspector may not pass these for the cfm ratings on your fans. They seem to feel that without more perforation openings, these restrict the amount of air you need to exhaust.
Aria vents 😆Not a good idea, only good for Instagram pictures. Other than that, horrible performance if you look at the specs.
They get some slack but are supposed to meet min standards or else we couldn't install them.
