I inherited my grandfathers 1990 hardbody, after years of neglect by other family members. I’m bringing it back to life, treating it like my little hot rod truck. The info you give is a level above any other source on RUclips.

Sorry I never saw this, have no clue why. But it’s kinda hard to check a manual trans without either driving it first or cracking open the case and inspecting the gears. It could go into gears fine while not attached and feel okay but synchros could be shot or broken completely. Example being my Infiniti will accept 3rd gear and hold the shifter but the synchro went on vacay long time ago. It’ll just openly rev in 3rd gear but you would never know if it wasn’t on the engine or you didn’t open it and look
Yes, this is the stock trans from my 95 Hardbody. From what I understand, they should be very similar but the 240 trans has the shifter placed farther back (I think?)
I’m using Megasquirt PNP for the D21. Plugs directly into stock harness and can run the d21 stock or super modified. For the price point, it’s a super badass unit and does everything I need perfectly. If you check my latest video I talk more about it and some of the other things I installed along with the Ecm to help dial tuning in

I feel like all the gears are so damn short, I end up driving like a grandpa cause I feel like im revving high at 65mph. I know little to nothing on manual transmissions and diffs. Would a different diff move it to where I want it? opinion?
i completely understand the gearing issue lol I have a 3.56 stock d21 diff currently and I cruise at about 3k ish @ 70+ but I’m actually putting another rear end from a rodeo for even shorter gearing. My reason being is for drifting tho, I don’t drive it often on the interstate. I do believe there is a lower ratio for the trucks in another year but I’m not 100% sure on that. Im gonna see how long this trans last and possibly switch to z32 or cd009 eventually depending on what I can find for swap interchangeability
That’s pretty much the same kit I used. Works well and was able to use all of it. Shifter wiggles a tiny bit freely due to smaller bottom plastic cup but throws are real nice
I don’t believe so but no 100% sure. I couldn’t find any kits that would work for that except for the 2J to 300zx transmissions. That being said,I know the CD trans from the G/Z is the go-to on the JZ swaps

it’d be worth a shot to swap the bell housing and see but I’m not sure. the shifter placement would be farther back with a truck trans(if it’s in a car). this trans has a different shifter placement then it’s 240 equivalent for the KA.

That's a good clutch. I have been running one for 10 yrs. Do a damper delete if you haven't already.
I have! Did a AT to MT Line from Master straight to slave. Even got rid of the little baby line going to the slave itself

For the shifter spring kit did u just by the one for the 240sx??
Yep, just used the cheap shifter kit for the S13 and it works perfectly. Make sure you get one without the plate on top as all of those don’t work.

Yes I did actually. Everyone thinks it’s powder coat but it’s called Metalcast paint. Semi high temp & metallic colors
