Hi! What an amazing video thank you SO much for doing this! A little feedback from UK. To pronounce blue faced Leicester. Leicester is spoken 'Lester' 🙂 I don't normally correct people online because it feels wrong, yet it's better that you know ❤️
Just watched the spinning and knitting videos 1 year after this comment...they both turned out spectacularly! So impressed...I hear the undyed roving in storage calling my name!!
If you have a restaurant supply store that sells retail you can get plastic wrap that is much wider. I have 24” wide rolls and it helps to keep the dye contained when steaming. Also when I roll it up, I leave the last end open, roll it up and then seal it. It helps express the air out and the two or three inches of wrap seals it. And I do use the extra wrap like you did . I have also used a large ziplock bag for the last wrap. I also let it cool completely before un wrapping and washing
Great suggestions! Thank you for sharing your experience. Two questions, have you attempted to dye any type of fiber besides wool - I'm planning a spinning series to tray all types of fiber. And what do you do with your precious wool - spin, weave, knit...?
Going live and unedited is cool too - lol GOOD JOB TEACHING- it’s stressful to get things done before video is out- good advice on the mask Safety first!
You are an amazing teacher! You made this process look so easy and stress free! Thank you for sharing your passion and talent. Blessings to you! Also, I noticed a book on your work station. Could you share the name and author please? Thank you!
Thank you so much! The name of the book is 'Spinning and Dyeing Yarn by Ashley Martineau. I meant to add it to the description, thanks for the reminder!
Yes, since the dye shouldn't come in contact with any surface in the microwave - and typically food doesn't come into direct contact with the micro surface either. If you are concerned you can wipe the microwave down with vinegar water after dyeing your fiber and/or leave it open for a bit to let it air out.
We would make such nice friends :) thank you for the video
GREAT video ... I learned so much w/o having questions. THANK YOU!!!

Super appreciate the pronunciation tip! Glad you found the video helpful!
@@TextileIndie you're so welcome! I'd want to be told, as long as it's done kindly 🥰
😊
Took me forever to figure out what BFL meant!
As a resident of Leicestershire, I so wanted to say this too! 😆
Great video, can't wait to try it myself
I’d love to see this after you spin it!
I'm planning on spinning it up for next week's video😁. Check back next Thursday to see if I make it!

Thanks! I have some Live streams planned for the new year. Honestly it seems a bit intimidating, but I'm willing to try it😃.
That turned out so nice!
Thank you! I was pleased with it. Do you dye wool?
Great video! It’s been awhile since I’ve dyed and needed a refresher. I will be using a pot on the stove instead of a microwave.
Glad it was helpful! Let me know how it goes.
That’s cool - GREAT EFFORTS N EFFECTS
Thanks😊
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you
You're welcome! I see you've watched a few dye videos. Are you working on a dye project? We love to hear what people are doing.
I use wool felt instead of dish towels to wipe up. You can use them multiple times. When you like what you have then set the felt like any wool.
Interesting! Is this your hand felted wool, or do you buy sheets somewhere?
I buy sheets of it from Amazon , I have made felted sheets from wool bats but it is incredibly hard work!
@@mary-ruthflores4107 Interesting, I'll look into that, thanks.

Could you do this same technique with procion MX dyes?
Yes, you can. I love Procion MX dyes and use them often.
Is it ok to use the microwave that is used for food?
