People keep saying that Sainz doesn't have the pace compared to Charles, but fact of the matter is that he's been treated like the second driver, especially in 2022, when in fact he was the one that finished fifth in the 2021 championship and Charles 7th. If anything, he deserves far more respect from Ferrari fans and especially the team then what he's given.

I dont get it, i think he had a very good pace!! He uses his tyres a LIT against Verstappen and Perez and yet manage to defend like a lion! Amazing performance 👏
I would take you more serious and you might have a valid point if you don't mention what happened in 2021. Sainz got 4 podiums that season. And do you know how many points over those four races Leclerc got? 1 point. A single P10 in the season finale. Leclerc could have gotten 25 points in Monaco starting pole, but a careless team inspection denied him even the start. He could have got a podium in Hungary considering Sainz started P15 because of his own crashing in qualifying, but Stroll punted him out in turn 1. He could get decent points in Russia, but the team decided to leave him out for one more lap and let him do a Norris, where he ran a well managed race starting from P15 due to engine penalty. And Abu Dhabi is just him lacking pace so there's that. You can't seriously claim that Carlos beat him on pure pace in 2021 when he managed a podium even when he crashed out in qualifying. He got boosted by A LOT of luck in that season to surpass his teammate. And the final score difference between the two is only 5.5 points. If anything, that shows how much better Leclerc was despite getting shafted by all kinds of bad luck that season. And oh, did I mention that Alonso put out an epic defense against Hamilton in Hungary, in a MUCH slower Alpine, whereas Sainz literally did nothing in a much faster Ferrari?
You know why he finished fifth and Leclerc owned Sainz in 2022

I would've been really upset if Charles sniped the 3rd position from Carlos at the end. Carlos definitely deserved the podium, after how he fought Max and Checo throughout the entire race..

Feel that Max is so powerful that he pushed part of the curse to Perez in FP2 and then the remaining to Tsunoda in the formation lap.
Max broke the Bahrain curse, the Monza curse and won 10 straight in a single season.

When you have the fastest car by a mile compared to every other team with an 100% reliability rate and factoring in a teammate that isn’t consistent to make it out of q1 then you get a max and redbull situation like now.
Car miles ahead of the rest + 100% reliability + great team operations + below average/average teammate = max now
Let just say max had Rosberg Nando as a teammate, he wouldn’t be close to 7-8 even 9 in a row. Those drivers would definitely take wins away. Sergio is not that guy.
Let’s say reliability, max would not have 7, 8, 9.
Take away any one of those factors and that record would not be attainable. Max has all of that including is extraordinary driving so he can literally go for 18 wins this season.

It is starting to look more and more like that Red Bull juniors are better suited to teams outside the Red Bull garage. Especially when you have Helmut Marko doing you no favours of a race seat.
It's sad that Yuki couldn't drive, so that we can't really say how good Monza suited the Alpha Tauri

As a non-Ferrari fan, I loved the Ferrari fight. I think if that was my team I'd have been having palpitations, but without anything invested in it, it was incredible to watch.
When I saw the Ferraris fighting I said "Matt is having a heart attack right now."

Yes, I even rooted for him during quali, but when I heard those (so-called) Italian fans booing Max, I thought no, they don't deserve a celebration. So I prayed for Red Bull to destroy those Ferrari's, and hence, my prayers were answered...

When did HAM last get penalized for his driving and it actually worked out badly for him? He tends to end others' races and then take the points for himself, penalty or not. Somehow tangles in a way where the other car gets damaged, not his own.
Also surprised that no one wants to talk about how most, if not all, of his overtakes on the medium tires included contact with the other drivers
yes, I love to watch a special of these actions because he has ruined Albon, Checo, Verstappen races, and just the last years. Even gaining podiums in that way. Disgusting but fia is pretty ok with it
@@Wasaa625 You might find some compilations searching for the "love tap". It's his signature move. Rarely penalized, and always worth crashing the other guy out. Him running off the track was especially bad in 2021. Take an advantage first, then lift a half second and cruise on.
The only thing that could have limited the risk was Hamilton not hitting Oscar. Oscar was on the edge of the track already, Matt.
He made it sound like it was half Piastri's fault because he did not dematerialize....

The Rosberg curse actually still stands because in Hungary he took a picture with Max's garage before quali and Hamilton took pole and then he took a picture with Lewis garage before the race and he finshed 4th.
It wasnt a picture, but he also said that Max was favorite in Monza before quali and Carlos took pole 😆 that power this man holds is something else
Ferrari went all in on Monza; they brought (planned) new engines with especially for Monza adjusted enginemappings (they can’t change them for the next races) and a spoiler especially produced for Monza (not Spa and Monza - just Monza). This is what it takes in 2023 to get 3rd for them …. Crazy
Don’t get me wrong I am a max fan, but holy fuck did I almost have a heart attack between the two Ferraris towards the end of the race 😂😂I got mad respect for the Ferrari fans cause I won’t hate the heart ache

On one hand I thought it was really disrespectful of LeClerc to risk both of their cars with so few laps left as if he'd be in that fight without Perez and Sainz didn't hold both rebulls off for half the race; Spending up his tires like crazy to only have LeClerc swoop in for a podium would have been an injustice. On the other hand, Sainz's win so to speak was that much more meaningful that after fighting with the Redbulls all race while LeClerc rides along, he was still able to deny him and take the podium. It was great to watch but we were def yelling at the screen like wtf are you doing mate, you're only there because you caught the Checo bus back up to the front.

@@my2cents366The point mentioned is if you see all race, Sainz initially was defending Max for 15 laps then once the pit stops were done he was first defending Charles then a battle with Checo and finally a crazy drag at the end with Leclerc
Whereas Leclerc, he was initially with the DRS train of Max then when Checo passed him he once again towed with Checo and in the final drag laps he was attacking Sainz crazily that last lap almost he crashed with him. Unnecessary man!!

The ‘no risk’ message was actually a message encouraging them to keep racing, not to tell them to stop. The full message was ‘No risk, racing until the end’, which means, ‘no risk from drivers behind, you can keep racing until the end’.
Post-race on F1TV had Vasseur talking with Laura Winter and Charles came up for a hug and pretended to try and count Fred’s pulse 🤣😆
What living creature did Hamilton sacrifice to get the power of coming out of incidents unscathed EVERYTIME??? Just sends max into a wall or albon spinning into the gravel or turns into piastri and damages his front wing... and what damage does he get??? Hamilton should have gotten a 10 or 15 sec penalty. 5 does nothing
Hamiltion didn't get a penalty because it didn't hurt him at all. So it's not a penalty.
It's about time they start to give penalties like: 1, 2, or 3 positions down.
Because like this it's so unfair.
Remember when Sainz got a 5 second penalty and there was a restart after a safety car? He lost so many positions. Again: not fair.

Instead of those silly time penalties they should have drive through penalties again. Ham getting 5 seconds for ruining Piastri's wasn't really a penalty and the same goes for Russell.

And Hamilton even left Albon no choice but to let him pass in that turn 2, else Albon may be the one that get 5 sec penalty

Maybe Max is the Curse for the rest of the grid. You can’t curse a curse, so it makes sense.
He’s foremost a curse for his teammates. He always leaves them with a sad departure from their side. They get demoted, cancelled or switch to a lesser team.

Were we watching the same race? Max clearly pushed Carlos into punishing and degrading his tyres and was testing Carlos in the braking zone so that he’d make a mistake, which is exactly what happened. Even if he hadn’t made a mistake, his tyres were already dead and Max would have just overtaken him regardless.

In Monaco they had this really cool graph that showed how close to the wall the drivers came.
Also today in the race they had this "halo-view" with the speeds etc, but also a 'rearview mirror' (on Verstappen with sainz in front and Lec behind) those were pretty cool.
Also we have the Distance-meter (you see before braking zones how much they close in in meters)
All in all I have noticed quite a few new graphs. Heartrate graph would be awesome to see.

It became obvious fairly early in the race that it would be just a matter of time until max took sainz. Max didn't force it too much. He was oacient knowing that sainz was driving on the limit and would end up paying the price. Leclerc was dying to get that podium at Monza.
I yelled "hey! HEY! CUT THAT SHIT OUT!" and my husband in the other room thought I was disciplining our 2 dogs hahaha
During the Ferrari's duel I was actually angry. I thought it was unnecessary risky on Charles' part to do this and that Carlos deserved the podium more than him anyway.

Agree with the TV cameras being a bit off with the choice of coverage. As a Lawson fan, it was so unbelievably riveting watching the live leaderboard for the entire race to see how he was doing! Yuki got more screentime for his DNS ffs haha.

Similar to the AWS graphic on battery usage, I wish F1 had a more visible indicator of when drivers are using their battery. I think it would be helpful to take a page out of Formula E's book with light indicators when battery is being deployed. On the broadcast we have indicators when DRS is being deployed, but there was even a moment during the F1 TV broadcast when DC made a comment saying "Oh yea, he's deployed all his battery here." And as a viewer who is not a seasoned F1 driver like DC, I can only scratch my head and say "wait, how do you know?" If there's anything on the list of "Things To Improve F1" that would be a simple change at the top of my list. Great video Matt! Keep up the great work on P1's way to 400K
