You are right, I think most Inline skaters can relate to your story! I also bought my first pair of skates based on my shoes size and letter had to downsize to get that performance fit! Thanks for sharing! I'm sure it will help a lot of new skaters!
Same for me, bought skates based on shoe size, then realized I had to measure and order based on that..the power and control from a perfect fitting boot is indescribable
I bet if we tracked this over 90% of us likely have owned too large a pair! “Indescribable” is a good word: I couldn’t believe it when I first pushed off down the street in new ones 😂 “springy” is another word I have thought describes the new skate feels. Thanks for watching/comment bro 😎
I have 41 (for 25,9 cm) Flying eagle skate. But i just realized that my foot actually 23 cm. Of course there's still much room. But it's not big problem. I still can do one leg roll. So i wonder how good if This thing came from fit size
@@NekoZika I really wasn’t having any noticeable issues with mine that were oversized and they felt just fine! Problem is that when I tried the closer fit it is really hard to go back to the larger ones since small feel so nice 😅 mainly I notice the energy transfer increase and feel a lot quicker and more agile in the smaller pair. Jumping has been a lot easier with the small skates as well; I feel more “springy”
@@PokeProfWill i choose 41 bcoz i wanna get 80 mm and 243 mm frame. And i think i made mistake. But fortunately inside are grippy enough to provide support for my legs (maybe this brand came from asian and suit for asian😅) Like your said, buying first skate is confusing
Many of us have the same issue! I have a beginner skate that I bought to start and experiment on how I would do on skates. Felt in love with it but now I have the oversized + soft boot problem. Since you went over many skates, can you make a video on which one is the best skate IYO? That would be helpful! Thanks dude!
@@tiagopellegrini9462 seems to be a universal thing in this sport with beginning sizing issues for us 😂 A video over which skate I think is best has been added to my list! Thanks for that suggestion! Currently I am loving my FR1s with Intuition liners (FR1 deluxe models). IMO FR1s have been the most solid and my favorites so far! I use them for trails, urban, rinks, and wizard skate sessions
What bothers me about buying skates is the impossibility of seeing them in person + the difference in liners & lasts can make a huge difference in skate fit and performance. I was recently given a pair of Tau's and they fit wonderfully - 2 sizes above my original fit. Franky Morales 2 - 40 - Way too tight Hardcore Evo - 40 - Somewhat Undersized + Had to heat mold for fit Aeons - 40 - Fits with Second Skin / Intuition Liners Next - 40 - Too big CL 15 (Iqon's wider Powerslide Next) - 40 - Fits okay Tau - 42 - Best fit It has taken years of buying skates and trying on others skates to come to an understanding about skate sizing charts: You'll never know unless you purchase them.
Absolutely: it is almost impossible without just trying them on! I really wish that I had a place to try on skates around here in my area. Interesting about the Tau fitting best at larger size; I have a buddy with Taus and he also upsized his from his normal size but says they feel amazing!
Hey Professor, now you got me thinking if I'm using the correct shell-liner size. Now I'm going to have to get my measuring tape out and start geeking out on foot length, mondo size, removing the liner and making sure if I am in fact a 279.4 mm size. THANKS A LOT!😂😂
I was also shocked by how little wind feedback the DJI 2 picks up! That day was moderate wind for my city; I will also do a test on a super windy day, but the DJI seems to be super upgrade on blocking unwanted wind feedback so far! I am using the mic with the dead cat that comes with it as well. Thanks for feedback!! 😎 I’m pretty happy with the sound quality; just takes a little extra work to integrate audio into video but after first time figuring out it is relatively easy after
Great story! Im about to be buying my first pair of FR skates with intuition liners, is there a best way for a beginner to find the best fit on the first go? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! Endless Blading Co has a great size quiz for finding nice performance fit with the FR Intuitions: www.endlessblading.com/blogs/news/fr1-intuition-sizing The size chart from FR is confusing; MP is a better range to look at than “measured foot” on the FR Deluxe charts If you would like to share your foot measurements here I could give you my opinion on which size I would personally go for there 🙂
Hello again, my man! I've been following you through all these changes and broken frames, and size changes, haha. 1st) Excellent video & audio! I'd crop the bottom and top for a better 16:9 fit - but that's just me. Regarding noise reduction, your voice is easier to understand when noise reduction is enabled. But the other version is fine as well. 2nd) My feet are just a bit shorter than yours, at 265mm. I have a preorder on the Neo 1s size 41.... Based on your thorough knowledge of both FR1 and FR Neo, and the differences in length, and internal available space in the shell.. Would you go for the 41 NEO 1s, or the 40 NEO 1s? The official info says the Size 40 shells are 263mm long internally. Even assuming there's some extra space on the toebox and heel, would you go for that one, or is it too much of a close fit? Would you recommend going for your FR1 setup with intuitions instead? Thanks a lot for your videos!
Thanks so much for the comments and feedback!! 🎉 I have tinkered with 16:9 but it usually cuts out by legs; I think I need to hold camera differently to get that going well 😅 After doing a lot of research, I have read several folks on Reddit who are a few mm past the shell length for FR1s that fit in the lower shell size fine (273mm feet fitting into 270mm FR1 shell or 263mm in the 260 shell). After about 20h I could see where I could fit a couple more mm of toe length but not much more than a couple. IMO the 40 Neo shell might be the perfect fit for you. Something that I didn’t mention in video is that when your heel is lifted a tad and in skating stance your foot also retracts slightly. If possible for you to switch to 40 preorder you could test the shell out before riding them by putting foot into shell without liner to see if pressure points. For me, I put foot into wife’s 40 shell and didn’t feel any pressure points; when crammed toe against front, I had about 7mm clearance or so in back. I feel like the 41 Neos would be too big at 276.3mm shell length after break in with Intuitions if looking for a performance fit with 265mm feet. Only source I have seen for shell lengths for Neo is Bladeville at the moment, hoping more sites can confirm! Tough choice for me there at 269mm, I don’t think I’d fit in the 40s Neo at 263mm 😅
Hey, @@PokeProfWill, thanks for your elaborate response! The NEO 1s already come with intuition liners. It's either 264mm liners on a 276mm shell (41), or 260mm liners on a 263mm shell(40). - as per FR's table sent to Inercia shop last month. I really don't want clown shoes, haha. I'm cutting it way too close, I think
@@PokeProfWillalso, regarding your wife's skates, those were officially "270mm" but your 269mm feet had 7mm extra available to them... If you add that up you end up with 276mm again... Could these be the same shell length in disguise?
@@Rafaelinux The 264mm Intuition liners in a 276mm shell would be size I would likely have to go for but I don’t think I want that much extra shell space 😅😔
@@Rafaelinux also about the wife’s shells: I was crushing my toes against the front uncomfortably when I found the ~7mm space so comfortably I’m looking at a less than 7mm space
Have u in any way shape of form using science to get out of crappy situations or ease ur experience while skating?? I was just talkn to my friend the other day "theres this Professor guy in the youtube who do inline skate" U're so cool bro
I used to teach physics labs during graduate school and physics comes into play a ton when skating! Notably when spinning there is a lot of factors that dictate the tightness and speed of the spin and I try to think about those things while spinning (if tuck in arms will spin faster for example; position of feet/heels/toes dictates tightness and if going to precess or not 🤓). Another thing that I like to do is “convert linear energy into rotational energy to stop” so less sliding and more spins to save my wheels to last longer lol When cleaning my bearings I use two different solvents (whereas most folks use only one) to clean them extra extra well. As chemist, I know properties of both the solvents I use (Sonic cleaner and acetone) and they both work in different ways to clean certain things that get into bearings. These are a few examples! Thanks for watching/commenting and asking about science! I appreciate it! 😎
That's quite a downsize! I've been riding the URF boot in shell size 39-40 for a while and it has been pretty much perfect except for my pinky toes which get mangled a bit on longer runs. If I would try size 44 FR skates they would feel like skis!
Nice! Sounds like a snug fit 😎 I have some 40.5-41.5 UFRs coming in mail tomorrow (same shell size as 40 FR1: shell 7) to replace my 43.5-44.5 UFRs that I had purchased 😅 want to get back to skatepark Lmao at the ski reference: I have been telling friends it is like a transition from clown shoes to Cinderella slippers lol Edit: also thanks for watching 😎
