One of the greatest performance in music history
For Sure 🙏🇫🇷😇🎻❤️
Indeed
Absolutely. This is heartbreaking and breathtaking. I love his performance of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto also.
@@dorothylynndespard4592all his performances. Beethoven, Brahms, Berg... A violonist like no one. I miss him so much.
Not true! We take Sibelius very seriously here in Finland! Ferras his violin sound not good! The best Sibelius concerto players are Really=Guila Bustabo( The Queen Tiger!) Viktor Tretjakov( the King) Gidon Kremer his live hurricane version! Myriam Fried! Jascha Heifetz violin sound better than Ferras's sound! Leonid Kogan in 1974!!
In my opinion....The Best violinist ever.
Guila Bustabo THE QUEEN TIGER Viktor Tretjakov THE KING Leonid Kogan better than David Oistrakh! Jascha Heifetz Itzhak Perlman Miriam Fried!
Et Gitlis...@@RaineriHakkarainen
Such a tragedy to lose him at 49 years of age. Supreme talent.
I read that, so sad.
l'unico rimpianto e' di averci lasciato troppo presto.Immortale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sibelius+Ferras+Mehta. A once in a century performance.
agreed!
Yes!
With Ferras playing the violine, all performances are "A once in a century performance" !
NOT TRUE! The Best greatest Sibelius violin concerto players Are really=Guila Bustabo THE QUEEN TIGER!!! Viktor Tretjakov THE KING!! Gidon Kremer not his LP or CD BUT Gidon Kremer LIVE= Hurricane version Best Sibelius Ever! Leonid Kogan better than David Oistrakh! Itzhak Perlman Miriam Fried Lisa Batiashvili!!!
Jascha Heifetz had better violin sound than Ferras! Henrik Szeryng More powerful louder than Ferras!
the legendary Ferras, he's THE BEST violinist when performing this violin concerto. The 2nd mvt. is jsut ................... so perfect.
I prefer Shlomo Mintz or Jascha Heifetz for the first movement, and Heifetz or Hilary Hahn for the 3rd movement, but the second movement is all Christian's.
@@lifeontheledgerlines8394 2nd mvt. definitely is all Ferras' indeed.
@@lifeontheledgerlines8394 I checked Hann's third movement, and while very good, I still prefer Ferras'. He just sounds so violent.
It's so visceral and sincere it's almost hard to watch
Absolutely electrifying!!!! That first movement just had me spellbound. His technique flawless. His passion unsurpassed! Why have I never heard of this artist before?
He is one of the legends of the violin tho!!
I realize Im kind of off topic but does anyone know of a good website to stream new movies online ?
@Jack Leo i would suggest flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Dayton Declan yup, have been watching on flixzone for years myself =)
@Dayton Declan thank you, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I really appreciate it!!
This is the most moving performance I have ever seen by any musician. Bravissimo!
Phenomenal, wonderful Ferras !!!! As every truly great, imense, artist sooooo UNIQUE ! We all miss him, I'm sure .... :(
Years ago, This recording was here for me when nothing else was. So grateful for this being here.
the moment beginning at 3:32 always makes my eyes well up.... and the gradual tumbling at 4:26... so many moments, I'm not sure how anybody in the audience would leave with a dry face
the second movement though
i can't...
Christian Ferras: A true genius, at work.
His tone is right under the skin! No superficial playing here.
O…h My…God. As soon as the first note is struck, I am goosebumped…and in 🫢 and the conductor and his orchestra are supremely superb in their own rights❤ Praise The Lord
@22:45 Breaks my heart ~ this movement is just way too beautiful!
THANK GOD! I have been searching for hours THIS masterpiece of a performance that is my personal favourite thing in the world.
Bravissimo Maestro Ferrás
CHRISTIAN FERRAS ! Un Géant Français
Interesting choice of fingerings in the beginning.. very outstanding and reflects the motif and his personal style with the music itself very well.
cant get enough of it
As a young kid I bumped into this on TV and fell in love with it haven’t been much of a classical person this guys bach Prelude is my favorite.
Magnificent performance! Thanks for posting! 💐🍒🌷🍦🍇🌹🎻🎶⛄️🦋🥰🍀😀👍
Sublime in every way. Great orchestra, conductor and what a player he was..
nothing comes close to this, nothing. this is as close as something comes to the sound of the soul.
So heroic! Love this concerto
Best version ever!
Espectacular. Interpretación lejendaria.
@twosetviolin needs to see this
Immense Christian Ferras
this is amazing. 💞
Bonjour,
Merci infiniment ! C'est profondément émouvant !
Très chaleureuses salutations !
Jean-Charles Bourquin
Interesting how he keeps the fast part around 2:00 on the string. The intonation is absolutely on point.
Incredibly generous performance !
I got this work when the Ferras/Karajan recording came out. I was enthralled by the work and the perfomance. I have bought any number of recordings since but have yet to find one that comes close to this.
Quelle merveille , quels frissons 😍😍😍
The Best Sibelius violin concerto players are Really=Guila Bustabo(The Queen Tiger!) Viktor Tretjakov(The King Sibelius!) Henrik Szeryng (More powerful than Ferras or Oistrakh!) +Jascha Heifetz(better violin sound than Oistrakh or Ferras!) Itzhak Perlman Myrian Fried! The weakest Sibelius violin concerto players are Really=James Ehnes! Ann Sophie Mutter is so restless and out of rhythmic balance all the time! Mutter never played in the big violin competitions and the reason is no prizes for Mutter! Mutter is famous only because Karajan was her friend! Sarah Chang has thin colorless dry cold violin sound like Black and White tv picture! Chang never played in the big violin competitions and the reason is no prizes for Chang!!
Amazing!
it is truly spectacular...
Thank you so much for the upload. This is electrifying performance, for me his tones is one of the best if not the richest! His passion is contagious as well. Greetings from Davao City! ☺️👏🇵🇭
Pure genius
Amazing.
I like very much the camera work here.
Phenomenal!
Großartig Musik und Leistung ♫♪
Interesting approach. I haven't heard someone like this before
Bravo!!!
❤❤❤❤excelencia!
Bravo
Gênio!!!
Son nerveux, maîtrisé, explosif... Mais quelle intensité!
Epoustouflant!
He was a maniac. And the audience loved him as long he played like a maniac. But when he became depressive and his fiddle playing became worse, they let him fall
This, and the fourth symphony, makes me wonder if Sibelius ever considered suicide. Sadly and ironically, Christian killed himself many years later after this performance.
"MLADI KOJI OSVAJAJU SVET" CIKLUS RTS,,nisam znala da ga više nema
Zawsze to uwielbiał.
28 min I could not see the bird, where was it?
As I said 20+ years ago on RUclips, (all those original comments having been erased), Ferras played without chin or shoulder rest here, and with more musicality than any other violin soloist of his day. This is an example of one pouring out his soul in full public view. No modern soloist can do this.
A stupid remark-useless
His bow have a little curve? I like this because the natural movement of bow between up and down have a curve
That means he simply doesnt stretch the bow too much
Is that Benny Goodman on clarinet?
Shame on those who gave dislikes.
Tuvieron que aplaudirle el segundo movimiento jj. No aguantaban más
He smokes it dang
And then some said the French didn't understand Sibelius...
His name is: Ferras ;-)
@@ossyreinardi and he’s from France
@@andresguillermoalvarezlope418 the original poster knows this very well. I imagine he was being ironic.
Sounds very different.
No one has the right to commit suicide, less at 49 years old ... with this talent.
Anyway, another thing is to be in their shoes.
Absolutely wonderfull.
Yes: "another thing is to be in their shoes". That's right. I have OCD and depression, and a side of me that urges to kill himself. Few would understand.
Everytime I wanna listen this concerto I listen to Ferras' interpretation. I feel I can identify more with him.
Dear friend, life is a wonderful opportunity to connect with creation. My wife committed suicide at 36, the worst thing in my life. Give creation a chance to exist. It's a gift.
@@framefu I just tried to commit suicide today, and by mere luck have I survived. Curiously enough just now have I read your comment... And... Woah... Surviving, reading this... I can't stop taking it like a signal. I'm not fine suddenly, but at least I am better than the state that made me try. Thank you, thank you thank you for writing me. Thank you. May whatever good the universe has bless you.
@@framefu and indeed, truly sorry for your wife. A lot of the people that kill themselves, deserve better. Surely she wasn't an exception.
@@dap4699 I hope you’re doing better than a year ago. Just saw your older comments here and want to say, it DOES get better believe me. 💙
28:16
They dont make them like they used to anymore!! haha 🤣
1:49
18:58
This was the most memorable performance of this concerto
How beutiful...
Overall its the best performance I’ve ever seen
2nd movement I believe Maxim Vengerov was better, but in first Ferras is a way better, louder, faster, precise!!
True artist
Better sharp than out of tune.
ad 4:17 The violin is crying...
Ferras is actually crying. See the second movement. This amazing art of performance!
@@satoshiogihara347 It's not for the reasons you think, sadly. He suffered from lifelong depression due to his father forcing him to become a virtuoso - he resorted to alcoholism for a long time, until he committed suicide, I believe sometime in the 1980s.
I beg to differ... THE GREATEST PERFORMANCE in music history is HEIFETZ ofcourse, wherein the second movement is a seduction...a successful one at that! Ferras is interesting and perhaps overly emotional but very good...for GREAT go to THE MASTER... HEIFETZ.
Never improved
Bravissimo!!!!!!!!!!!!
