I didn't subscribe until I started getting other creators making the "3 ways to counter" form of content, they were all sub par
Much love that’s actually why I started this series. Counters aren’t EVERYTHING but there is a lot of bad info and charts out there which can be confusing for new players. I wanted to make a difference and clear up misunderstandings.

He is very strong but a bunch of people he doesn’t counter. His hook needs a nerf tho

She was INSANE with stun in OW1 but still really solid! If anyone on supports deserve a slight buff I'd say it's her
She definitely doesn’t. She is an extremely easy spawn camp for a good ball. I would say lucio is a better counter bc he can also boop + is almost invincible against ball

Ive only seen mei counter ball in plat, unless theyre crazy skilled with walls, even then a good ball will just wall jump them and slam on you or run.
@@thomassam-otuh9207 But her slow makes it easier to focus ball. It can also take ball out of fireball. While ball can get out of slow with grapple, a well placed wall can trap ball or make ball lose their grapple.

For any brig players : While brig lost her stun, you can still technically stun rein out of charge or doom out of punch, this requires timing and knowing that you might die right after this, but if it saves someone more important, do it.

Roadhog and Sombra seem to be everyone's counter in these videos.
Technically reaper is hard to counter using roadhog cuz reaper self heal by damaging depends on how much reaper applied the damage to and roadhog’s head hitbox is massive so the only way to defeat repeat using roadhog is hook n headshot twice or or body shot after headshot but if reaper hasn’t been hooked then roadhog is most likely be fcked unless u have great aim on shooting his head 2-3

Junkrat *CAN* also be a sort of counter for ball *IF* you can place a really good trap. Same with Mei because she can slow ball down or place a wall in a spot that completely stops ball momentarily.
Pretty funny that most of the times the best counters are always: roadhog, sombra, ana
Road is broken but ana and Sombra are low dps heros meant to have utility
Ana in general is solid but has high skill cap and 0 mobility

As a ball main, ima say mercy is an underrated choice, not because she can stun ball but because if he tries to dive anyone other than you he won’t be able to get the kill, just need to player her with another support who will peel for you if needed

counters for wrecking ball:
literally everything
Brig is wonderful with and against wrecking ball, so if both sides have one the side with a brig is at a significant advantage..
the enemy ball gives brig free inspire refreshes, his quick dives on enemy back-lines are much easily healed and interrupted with a defensive peeling brig (which is the only good way of playing her most of the time now), and her two forms of healing are some of the easiest to apply to her own wrecking ball with the additional benefit of not having to dive with him or chase after him as he rolls around, allowing his otherwise feeding behaviour to be heavily reduced and that value to return to the team and not just be an advantage for the enemy ult charge.
Even though brigs a fairly weak support right now, the benefits of being brig when there’s a wrecking ball on either side are actually high enough to offset her poor balance state right now, absolutely worth switching to get if you have or see a wrecking ball on either side of a match
I think Lucio is also a solid pick against ball. Whenever a ball comes rolling in, Lucio can bomf him back, making the ball go back and wait for grapple cooldown
Doomfist is a good counter as well. You can stop him from diving your team with punches and use your slam to destroy his entire ultimate if placed correctly.
Rock ball as sigma is funny slapping ham out of ball mode before finishing a slam down
I've found that I've most often had sombras don't have the best experience, most likely because DPS frequently does that to be a mild counter though not extremely. Best suggestion against ball if he frequents a momentum area is sym to place your turrets there. Not to close to the ground, as his piledrivers will obliterate it quickly. You will gain charge very quickly. Same with torb but his turret takes way longer to remove, try not to place it on the payload as that's a frequent stomping spot. Would in general try to spread out as his shields depend on how much. Would also suggest junkrat, try to place your traps where he frequently bashes you.
Though in general to really mess with him choose anything that can't mess with his momentum. Just be wary where he goes.
Mei is great against ball. the slow from her primary gives your team a great opportunity to fight him, and her wall can block areas where he can just swing around the point.
Junkrats bear trap:
Always found that ball presenting himself too much was a good way to build ult charge to burst his back line with while he's away
I always go with Junkrat. Trap is kinda OP against ball not only make him extremely vulnerable but also mentally prevents him from (w)recklessly dive into objective/payload.
Lucio is great for cancelling his momentum using his shockwave making him a sitting duck for dps
As a brig main it’s nice to be able to go 1v1 against most heroes in Overwatch 2 again
Junkrat is surprisingly good for dealing with the ballers who hook onto a middle platform and spin to win. A well placed trap gets him and, if your team is with you, you can easily dispatch him.
As a ball main sombra ruins my day

I like playing Rein, I've gotten fairly good at predicting and bashing ball, plus his bash also takes out balls ult safely without having to worry about taking the damage
I find Lucio a good counter coz he can keep up with ball and coz of his quick cool down boop it's always good to take his momentum and stop him when he rolls into your team
My two cents, I also find JQ to be a somewhat decent counter. Scattergun is a pretty effective option, being able to bleed him can help a lot on the slippery guy, and a good knife can mess up his escape and pull him back into certain death.
Doom is also a nightmare.

If you position the brig shield where the ball is about to slam it will also stop the knock up effect potentially saving her and anyone behind her from being picked off by Hammond/enemy dps
Extremely good at punishing balls
I want you to not forget that junkrat’s traps are a sufficient counter towards ball’s roll, my team was significantly losing a game because of ball but my teammate dps became a junkrat and trapped the BALL EVERY SINGLE TIME, it was so insane I started freaking out when the ball could not run away, we just ganged up on the ball everytime and we counted 3.2.1. And we all one tapped his head, it was hilarious
I’ve yet to worry about a wrecking ball ever since his release that I have to worry about countering him
the 2 massive counters for wrecking ball for dps would be sombra (obviously) and bastion, most people would not think of bastion, but if you hit the grenade it stops his momentum and bastions turret mode will do a lot of damage, if you hit most of your shots

Sombra-Ball is a classic example of a HARD counter. And it sucks for Ball tbh
I always play sombra against a ball. Hacking them out and then bullying their giant hitbox is way too much fun

Dude sombra literally makes ball unplayable. It’s annoying as hell. I get that there’s supposed to be counters to everything but I’ve never seen a character be unplayable because of one character before. Coming from a ball main
Junkrat and rpr are both really good too
Junk rat is one of the best dps counters to wrecking ball if he lands on his trap u can easily get the cleanup on em, so bra is nice cuz she can hack em outta it for a sec but 2 sec hack vs a 5 sec lockdown on trap plus it does damage. It’s to easy to counter wreckin with junk in my opinion

Zen you can orb him and when he gets close float around and keep kicking him… it really makes them mad and discourages them. Hit them right with the psychology
I would like to argue that mei can be a good counter for ball too, meis primary slows him down preventing him from getting any momentum ice wall can block his escapes and her ult stops him in place
How to counter wrecking ball: play a character that does damage
every hero counters Ball. He is super easy to deal with.
I'd say Lucio is also a great counter. Very survivable and hard to kill for Ball, and his boop can very easily disrupt Ball's momentum.

Thank you thank you thank you for giving us newbies a chance to learn how to counter all characters! It’s not hard to learn what each characters do, it’s knowing what each character is better at doing against others. As a new player who constantly gets flamed in quick play I cannot stress the amount of random angry OW players that just hot mic me because I’m not sure what exactly to do
Considering that I always hate when there is an enemy rat I will take this video to heart.
I would also say that Mei is a viable counter. With her slow Ball can't get out of tough situations as easily, and her wall can disrupt his momentum and or just block him off entirely so her team can finish the job. She can't get assassinated by him either because of her large health pool and cryo-freeze.

As an Orisa main, javelin and spin can punish over extending ball players. And fortify to counter ball rolling so that you don't get scrambled easily.
Not really a counter but something I enjoy doing is kicking ball as Zenyatta like he's a soccer ball

In conclusion, Ana, and Sombra counter everything.
Symettra destroys hampter because the turrets are hard to break without getting out of roll, you take loads of damage + the symettra beam melting you and turrets slow him

I'd say junkrat is really good for trapping him in a stall and you can kill him in a full clip with a mine too

Mei is really strong against ball because you can wall him off, slow him down and survive against him if he tries to dive you

Doomfist is also a counter, he can 1 shot every mines with 1 shockwave and cancel his momentum whenever he wants
Doomfist is absolutely not a counter lmao. And you shouldn't pick them just because one of your 4 primary fires can one shot a mine lmao. There are so many better picks.
How to counter wrecking ball: Play the game
I think bastions turret mode really helps push Hammond away
This will help me when I encounter 1 of the 2 ball mains.
Mei is also good, put a wall behind so he can't get away, slowing him down so roadhog and ana can use their hook and sleep dart easily.

I genuinely hate hog with a passion. Either you get 1 tapped or dropped off the edge of the map, there is no in-between
Also, hammond's gun can't outdamage brig's self heal and brig can also proc inspire off of his mine
sombra’s such a niche pick but there are certain tanks where she can just prevent them from playing the game
As a ball main it’s possible to counter sombra, it’s just annoying in qp since your team usually can’t go without it their tank for a while. Brig messing his momentum is the most annoying
You can also shield off the slam from hitting your team as brig.
Lucio is good too to boop him off someone and speed your team away if needed.
Best way to counter hammond is to never go somewhere alone. Hammond is a god at killing isolated targets, especially flankers and snipers.
Bastion minigun does well too
With hog make sure to jump prior to shooting hammonds head to get more of those pellets to hit it.

I feel taking away Brigs shield stun was a huge and unnecessary nerf to a character that was still reeling from previous nerfs.
I hate wrecking ball, literally everytime I fight him he's out here flying, dodging every shot.
Mei. Wall to cut off ramps and doors and save team from boops, primary fire slows him a lot. Ice Block timed can avoid slam and boops.
ive found mei and sym turrets are very good at slowing down a ball. Mei wall outright stops him in place
I'd say Lucio is a better counter to ball than Brigg. You can speed away from his initial engagement and his guns have massive falloff and barely tickle you. He can also boop ball to disrupt momentum and get him off your other support. His speed can also help allies that were disrupted by ball reposition so they're not as exposed.
Roadhog is surely a good counter for ball however in the sametime good ball could be quite a counter for hog.
The value of hog is mostly his hook.
When hog uses most of his hook on ball
Ball can make hog hard to succeed his hook with his great speed and 3rd person's point of view and getting hooked safe depending on situation.
When hog tries to hook your teammates, ball can body block the hook or if you are lucky his primary fire instead of your teammate and mostly boop hog with his grapple. It's pretty much a same thing predicting his hook and engaging barrier but with more extra timing.
