I saw this video about a year ago.....back then....I thought to myself...hmm.... nothing wrong with dreaming......today....4/28/21.....i just completed my order in amazon to get my old town sportsman its own crate......THANKS A LOT.....GREAT VIDEO....STRAIGHT FORWARD AND SUPER EASY INSTRUCTIONS...... THANKS AGAIN...!!!!!
My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
One slight suggestion is at 6:34 you cut the tail end of that bungee. Maybe drill another hole in hte top portion and snake it through that second hole and tie another knot. Now you have a bungee to secure things down in the top portion of that crate also...
Great milk crate ideas, thanks, Fuzzy! One of the best things about milk crates is that they're made of HDPE plastic, and the piece you have left over from making your crate lid can be cut up, chopped up (with an old, thrift store blender,) melted with a heat gun, and formed into blocks or sheets you can use to make, well...whatever you want! You can saw, file, sand, drill, turn, or do anything with it that you can do to wood, and you can do it with regular woodworking tools! The possibilities are endless!
Fuzzy Outdoors TV really? Cool! Glad I could turn you on to it, as I'm guessing you'll probably make some great future videos about it. Some have made forms from 2X4s, and others just use bread pans, cookie sheets, etc. They just use a 2X4, 1X6, or whatever fits best, along with a ratcheting woodworking clamp to compress the hot HDPE. It doesn't turn to liquid, just gets like putty, so you do need to press it down. Have fun, man!
I think you did a fine job. Nothing flashy. Not expensive. Simply a workable solution to a common issue on yaks. That is a good thing. I would like a suggestion on how to incorporate my cart into being stored on one side while on the water. Any ideas?
Awsome, Fuzzy. Built my own thanks to you. Bought a yoga mat, cut it up to mats on the bottom of the top and bottom crate to keep things from falling through. You might consider that. You did great, though.
Fuzzy, Mad a similar box before I saw your video. i do ALOT of salt water // baitfishing along with sweetwater bass/pickerel/panfishing. One thing did to my homemade crate was completely line the top with stained/urethaned strips of 1/2 inch wood... makes a nice work surface or bait board or fsh cleaning board. Great Video!
Yessir, anchor trolley, nav light (maybe DIY, maybe not), and get out on the water as much as I can. Some other little additions but nothing difficult.
Love it and the profile pic. Use to drag some knee on my Duc. I had track video but lost it and never made it back around to the track before i sold it. Plan on taking the sumo out soon!
Hey bud just wanted to let you know i followed your direction and made one myself. Lost everything in a kayak flip a few weeks ago and this is a huge help
I'm totally new to kayak fishing. My kayak won't arrive until the end of this month but I'm jacked about the possibilities of making my own accessories to catch more fish. I'm retired and I have the time to fish now. Loved your video on making your own crate! I'm going to go right now and buy a couple of crates!
Great Video, fuzzy! I purchased my first fishing yak mid last season, so I will be doing DIY's like over my harsh Canadian winter. Of all the DIY's I have read/watched, I think this is the best because it is simple, and your video is extremely well done. Cheers. Kiai!
Dig the idea with the lid made from the bottom of another crate. You could even drill holes on the sides towards the top part of the lid and then put bungee cord laced across it to keep stuff on top secured. Kinda like the front or rear of some kayaks already have. Great job man!
Love it, down to earth, you speak to us not at us or down like an 'Expert' great job can't wait to make my own and thanks for the tip at the end on positioning of the lift crate, keep up the great work
All, very good ideas for helping me with my box. I'm making the swap from whitewater and surf kayaking to fishing from a kayak, so I can use all of the advice I can get! Thank you! Rip'n Lips!
What I use for hinges is section of divers weight belt webbing melt holes in it where you want it and then bolt it thru or screw mount it. I have been replacing all my ice chest hinges with this stuff for 30 years Hawaiian Hack !
Thanks for the video. Just finished putting mine together. I added a melamine cutting board to the top that I can remove if needed, otherwise, it is identical. Looking forward to trying it out this spring in NC.
The wife and I finally found us some kayaks. I’ve been doing copious amounts of research and RUclips videos to trick mine out for fishing. I get through this entire video, hear about the giveaways and laughed when he said May of 2016... Regardless this was extremely helpful so thank you!
I pick up my Eagle Talon 14 today after werk. THIS is definitely going to be a good budget add-on...but I'm going to see about molding one of them small personal sized ice chests as well, for when we go on float trips down the Current River.
Hey Fuzzy, I loved your video and built my own following your instructions. It turned out perfectly. In my center tube, I stuffed it with a foam wrap, made it perfect to stick my orange triange warning flag (on a fiberglass poll). Thanks for the tips, it was easy to follow and a great end product!
I don't know if you can do this with a hydra pack but, with my 1 liter bottles I bring 4. 3 I freeze 1/4 full and one 3/4 Full. Filling up what's left in each bottle the day of my adventure. That way I have ice cold water all day saving the 3/4 one for last since it will take most of the day to melt down.
I like your set up. I wanted to try and make one with a milk crate but wasn't sure how I was going to do it. I like that rod holder you have in this video. Perfect. I will check out Amazon to see if they still have them for sale. Thanks for sharing this video with us. Aloha🌴🎣🏄♂️🤙🏼
thanks Dan. Click that bell button so you can get notified of our new videos. Some inshore stuff, fly fishing, and most importantly a crazy $500 plus bass tackle giveaway!
Do you have helped me out a lot show me the things and stuff on your kayak I'm doing the same thing I'm putting pontoons on my boat and everything and I love watching your show keep it going
great video brother. i ended up using a motorcycle helmet tie down to put on my crate sadly to say that it has spaced whose. i anchored to the back of kayak to keep the rough water to my back and cast with the current but began to take on water to were when i lean to cast my other rod i feel in and thinking everything in create would be secured the small stuff came out. I also like the idea of tying down the creek to the kayak but dolphin come to my catch inches from my kayak taking in the create the first time. Hopefully third time is a charm thank you for the video I will try this a go.
Thank you. I owe credit to another kayak angler. Wish I came up with it but we definitely work together and love to share in this community. Thanks for watching.
Awesome idea, can't wait to get mine made. I like the thought you had about keeping everything organized inside the crate. That helps you get to what you need faster and should hold in place better when tipped over.
Great video! I"ve been using a crate and am constantly tweaking it. Sure wish I"d seen this first. Awesome as is with plenty of room for hacking. Many thanks!
+Fuzzy Outdoors TV definitely! Also, those bungees you use to hold the rods: of you make/have a much shorter version of that, you can clip the carabiner to the very bottom loop on the rod so it stays tight into the holder.
Thank you for the video .it's genious and verry simple to build. I 'il will try to make the same before going fishing .Have good time 'n wish you bigs fishes.😉🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟😍
very nice couldn't do better myself, but the crate I have is 13 x 17 and I wonder if it would fit.?? I have to wait and see when and If I ever get an kayak... living in an aptm. and so have to wait to see what to do. great job now go catch some fish !!
Great job on the video!...It was well explained and easy to follow. I have seen other videos on this same subject but your approach is practical and has a smaller footprint when put together. I made one of these about 4 yrs. ago it does come in handy for a number of things because I also hunt ducks out of mine .
nice that would be fun duck hunting is on the bucket list for sure.

Yeap yeap 👍🏼
I would just give it a heavy dose of super glue. But your idea would work also.
Instablaster...
Bungee cords, zip ties, and milk crates, it's got every thing I like, right there! Great project, thanks for posting!
Lol. Awesome!
Glad you keep up tradition with that vintage skill saw ... GW used that same one to build the boats to cross the Delaware.
Not a skill saw.....
As far as I can tell, no one on RUclips owns a skill saw. Everyone uses a jigsaw for everything.
Lol definitely not a skill saw.

Very clever idea with clear precise instruction, best of all no irritating background noise that some confuse for music! Cheers
I'm not sure how I got to this video, but now I'll have to get a kayak and start fishing just so I can build and use a crate like yours. Great video.
I think you did a fine job. Nothing flashy. Not expensive. Simply a workable solution to a common issue on yaks. That is a good thing. I would like a suggestion on how to incorporate my cart into being stored on one side while on the water. Any ideas?
Old school jig saw!! Love it!
I love how Fuzzy works right off the floor in his garage. Just like me!😎
No shirt no shoes no problem!
Awsome, Fuzzy. Built my own thanks to you. Bought a yoga mat, cut it up to mats on the bottom of the top and bottom crate to keep things from falling through. You might consider that. You did great, though.
What a fun video! I'm not even a fisherperson, but a recreational boater, and I loved the idea.
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! That really means a lot!
Thanks Fuzzy Outdoors for showing this project. Appreciate it.
Thank you for watching

Thought that I had a great crate, but then I added your top lid. Now I have a great crate. Thanks

Excellent modification on kayak milk crates with a top, & rod holders!
My kind of construction. Eyeball everything and drill. Great project. Gonna have to make one now

Yea this got posted a while ago lol
Good video and good attitude. I'm gonna make one and thnx for the right or left reminder. When you can buy a Bosch jigsaw, you deserve it.
thank you very much

Great video. I followed the instructions, and mine came out great. Thanks.
Great video man! It’s still helping people years later 😅🙌
thank you!
Good one mate... just bought my son his first kayak and this is gong to be its 2nd upgrade. 1st is an electric motor for trolling.
I love how you got straight to the point of your video.
I'll be starting this project for my kayak soon. Thanks for including links to the supplies in the description & thanks for the video homi.
So simple so cool. This is the stuff we yakkers need. Thanks for the great video.
thank you!
This helped me a lot with my new kayak set up. I did my own mods but it was basically same basis for design. Thank you.
Thank you so much that means the world to me!
Nice and simple but real effective good job
Great DIY idea and video. Thanks Fuzzy.
Thank you Heath Panganiban came up with the top. He is super smart check out his channel and tell him I sent you!

16 hours ago I watched your video 12 hours ago I made one just like this minus the fishing pole holder, thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you so much for watching glad it could help!
Great ideas and light bulbs moments too. Love zip ties. Thanks bro
This was an EXCELLENT DIY video. The best one I've seen on RUclips!🖒🏾
Thank you so much. Gonna do some more fun ones like this soon!
Ran across this video, thanks for making this. Now I have a better crate for my kayak. Again thanks for sharing
I like your set up. I wanted to try and make one with a milk crate but wasn't sure how I was going to do it.

Awsome Fishing Crate, Just what I was looking for!

on the crate build try adding magnetic strips inside lid to secure pliers, knifes, etc.
Great Idea!!!
Sweet crate great video -cheers from Tasmania
Thanks to you I got an awesome fishing crate really appreciate it man and it only took me under a half hour to build
Awesome ideas. Thanks for sharing

Do you have helped me out a lot show me the things and stuff on your kayak I'm doing the same thing I'm putting pontoons on my boat and everything and I love watching your show keep it going
Nice nice nice, great idea you gave me, best I found here for my need so far... thanks for sharing

I have a spare crate at home I'm going to start putting one of these together! Thanks for the great ideas, liked and subscribed!
JB Outdoors thank you sir

Great video I dont have a Kayak yet but this was a great idea. Just a girl who love to fish.
Great idea with the lid! I was struggling to find a good design.
Thank you. I owe credit to another kayak angler. Wish I came up with it but we definitely work together and love to share in this community. Thanks for watching.
What’s good fuzz,
Thanks man
Nicely done my Friend!
had a similar idea but could never really figure out how to implement it. awesome video dude. im gonna start this project tmrw fur sure
Awesome!!! Im so stoked I could help!!!
I love this design ❤️
Great idea, I’ll try on my inflatable kayak!!!
very nice design I may make one for my boat
Thank you I know you will love it!
You could make two bungee cord latches if u cut it evenly in half and drilled two separate hole for twice the strength and better dourabillitly
Awesome idea, can't wait to get mine made. I like the thought you had about keeping everything organized inside the crate. That helps you get to what you need faster and should hold in place better when tipped over.
Yes Sir!!!
Awesome ideal! Turned out perfect.
Awesome DYI for Yaks!!! Thank you for the video!
I built this crate and I love it
That is so Awesome I'm glad you love it!
Great video! I"ve been using a crate and am constantly tweaking it. Sure wish I"d seen this first. Awesome as is with plenty of room for hacking. Many thanks!
really good idea i like the lid on it👍
Yes sir. Got that idea from Heath Panganiban! Check out his channel let him know I sent you!

Fuzzy Outdoors TV
Very nice job Fuzzy! I subscribed!

Awesome brother!!!
Great work! I learned something today
That was awesome. Thanks for taking the time to film this and sharing!
New friends here from Trail Trash Outdoors! Fun channel you have here and what a great idea! Currently building mune now lol
Great idea. I'm looking for a good fishing set p for my kayak.
Thanks brother, Go check out our 5K sub giveaway video if you are in to bass fishing you'll love it.
Love this im gonna make one for my inflatable boat.
Where did you get the crates?
Thumbs up! Nice design.
I would figure 8 knot it so the knot doesn’t roll and come apart. But overall awesome design
Made mine, thank you. New ro kayak fishing.
Great set up for having on a scooter or bicycle.
love this stuff and you Fuzzy
I have the EXACT same carabiner. Got mine from home depot and its my key ring.
It works very well for this application.
+Fuzzy Outdoors TV definitely! Also, those bungees you use to hold the rods: of you make/have a much shorter version of that, you can clip the carabiner to the very bottom loop on the rod so it stays tight into the holder.
I love that idea!
+Fuzzy Outdoors TV haha, yeah man! That way if the kayak flips, the rods are taught to the holders and cant even slide out.
That is awesome!!!
Nice build. Love it
Thank you for the video .it's genious and verry simple to build. I 'il will try to make the same before going fishing .Have good time 'n wish you bigs fishes.😉🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟😍
Solid idea and build. Thank you for the video!
very nice couldn't do better myself, but the crate I have is 13 x 17 and I wonder if it would fit.?? I have to wait and see when and If I ever get an kayak... living in an aptm. and so have to wait to see what to do. great job now go catch some fish !!
Sweet crate! Thanks for the video.
This is the crate box I'll be putting together. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Great job on the video!...It was well explained and easy to follow.
I have seen other videos on this same subject but your approach is practical and has a smaller footprint when put together. I bet you could probably figure out how to put some kind of lid on the hinged top crate that, in my opinion, would complete this build. As soon as you figure this one out, I will be at the hardware store the day after you release the video. LOL.
I just subscribed to your channel. Good job!
-Mark
Thank you Mark. If I were to do it I would cut down another crate leaving just the bottom and about 1/2 an inch of material then the zip ties!
I made one similar, used a old cutting board and put it as the top chunk
that's a great idea!
Very nice ! Where will you keep the battery?
Lance Rudy the Jackson has a battery compartment between my feet
