    Do you consider using the microcorkscrew as cheating, or do you spam them at every chance you get to make sure you pass the scenario?

    • @Robbedem
      @Robbedem 4 года назад +114

      For me it's cheating. Sometimes I don't mind cheating, but I prefer to pass every scenario without cheating at least once.

      I use it when I want to pass a scenario that I don't like as fast as possible.

      @@soranuareane As for the looping coaster, and speaking of modding, it has occurred to me that you could create a pretty feature-complete coaster type with the looping coaster's track design (which I love) by using track elements and trains from the LIM coaster, which share the same design. Alternatively, you could just give the LIM a cable lift and circuit operating modes.

    There's another small design I found reasonably useful for the Corkscrew coaster - a launched design featuring 6 station pieces, a cutback, two back-to-back corkscrews (each going in opposite directions, one away from the station, the other towards it) and another cutback. It's slightly less cheesy than the micro-Corkscrew model (which is still definitely useful) and also gets decent stats provided you don't launch it at anything higher than 50 miles per hour - 42 or 45 mph should do the trick

  • @MogamiK32

    The Corkscrew Coaster is really the looping coaster that was produced by Arrow dynamics also you can make the Arrow Launch Loop and Vekoma Boomerang with this coaster type.

  • @nlb137
    @nlb137 4 года назад

    I also use a version of the double cutback coaster using steep twists if I want to place a cheap and easy looping coaster instead of corkscrew (or don't have access to the corkscrew yet).
    Powered launch out of the station into a steep twist, level out, place one level piece, then drop into another steep twist in the same direction, so you're now going in the opposite direction of the start. Place a vertical loop that moves toward the station (right loop if your twists were to the right), then repeat the "steep twist cutback" but without the extra space in the middle.
    In both this and the corkscrew version you demo'd here, you can save space by putting your stations inside the loop and pathing out via the cutbacks (or putting queue line on top of the station section for pathing excitement bonuses).

    Interesting how I stumbled upon the micro coaster design by just simple experimentation. Never really known what goes in to the rides scores in details. I sometimes use those micro designs because they seem to fit in the park. Often a bit more advanced than just a simple inversion since I build mainly for looks. And while an efficient moneymaker with small footprint it also gets a bit boring if you just put out a lot of those and do not look realistic. But a fair few micro designs can look realstics enough that there believable. I guess the smallest one should really called nano. ^_^

    • @MarcelVos
      @MarcelVos  4 года назад +1

      I'm not 100% sure but I would bet that it indeed is the best moneymaker per dollar invested. That said, there are other factors that determine how much money you make. If you make a more expensive ride with higher stats but still a very short ride time, guests actually spend more money per hour going on those rides than going on the microcorkscrew, meaning you might make more money in the end. My record for making the most money in one month from ride tickets (a bit over €500,000) consists of 16 twister coasters with 4 stations that have a capacity of almost 20000 guests per hour. They are quite expensive but they make more money than 200 microcorkscrew coasters.

    In Classic and Vanilla RCT2 the Reverse-Inclined Shuttle Mode is the superior option thanks to the HUGE NERF that the Corkscrew Coaster's Powered Launch Mode got, it went from a max launch speed of 60MPH to a max of less than 30MPH. In OpenRCT2 it got its RCT1 launch speed back. Outside of the super optimal designs Powered Launch Mode got nerfed so badly for the Corkscrew Coaster that it's no longer really good for it outside of micro coasters.

    corkscrews are an elegant track, a nice line of color around the park and the supports for even very intricate designs do not block view very much as with woodies and others.

    Honestly? even if the booster is kinda shit, if you use it correctly it can be used to give you the best of both launched and chain-lift designs. I like to have a few sequential boost sections with growing hills in between before circling it back along a more normal design. This way you have a comparatively short ride time, multiple trains, and still a good overal cost to score rating.

    I have tried building the first design, that is also in your user photo, in rct classic (from steam) and it keeps flying off. Can't lower launch speed any more. Other than that, lover your videos.

    What does throughput mean? Is that like how efficient a ride is from the moment a guest enters the queue to when they exit the ride? Like the satisfaction level of the ride?

    • @reillywalker195
      @reillywalker195 2 года назад

      Throughput is how many riders are riding your ride within a given amount of time. The "customers per hour" figure the game gives you is a measurement of throughput.

    Hey, I'm playing RCT classic and I love your videos. I downloaded some of your ride designs and most of them have worked great, but for some reason the short intense launch doesn't work for me. The train never makes it over the first loop... I tried setting the launch speed to the max, but it only goes to 27mph... Any ideas what the problem may be? Or is it just because I'm on RCT Classic?

    • @theclaudeqc3rdone290

    Recently found your channel became a fan right away. i am not good at designing things myself but once given a design i am good at tinkering with it to see if it can be improved. that said i have been messing around with open rct2 (love that thing stops the game from crashing). if you use the air powered vertical coaster trains, add a 2nd camel hump after the photo section and set launch speed of 45 on the 2nd corkscrew coaster design in your video (6:12) you get slightly better stats, more cars on the track with 7 station platform i have 18 cars on the train. according to the rct 2 ride calculator if it is the only corkscrew in the park it you can set a price of 17.

    It bothers my OCD so much that the photo section from design 2 isn't in the center of the three tiles for aesthetic's sake. Is there any bonus to having a photo section after a non-flat normal piece/a hill, or is this just a personal design choice or negligible factor you don't bother with?

    • @gymnasiast90
      @gymnasiast90 4 года назад

      The game does not take the location of the photo section into account *at all*. Guests will even buy photos if no train ever passes through them. It's therefore just a personal design choice.

    I find it interesting that the corkscrew coaster doesn't have sloped bank turns, considering that the original Corkscrew had a huge one before the two corkscrews...
    And it bugs me a lot that it doesn't do that.

    Recently I have been having issues with my PC freezing, it does register the mouse cursor, it just stops responding to any clicking or scrolling.
    It generally happens when playing openrct2 (newest stable build), but few other programs as well. (Cities, Skyrim, Opera, MS-Paint)
    I have done everything I could think of, including cleaning the hardware thoroughly, updating drivers and windows to their latest (stable) versions, clearing the temp folder, adjusting virtual memory. It's less frequent now, yet the issue persists. Perhaps somebody here knows what might be the solution.

    • @StefanVeenstra
      @StefanVeenstra 4 года назад

      And it did just now again. For like the first 15 minutes nothing out of the ordinary, then randomly it freezes the screen (but not the cursor) and refuses to recognize any input.

      Partaking in those polls is something specific to my Patreon. I needed some rewards for my Patreon page and this seemed a good one for the lowest tier. I don't keep a lot exclusive to my Patreon but the polls will very likely stay there.
