    I can't believe it's been two years since I first watched this, so I came back for a review. This is the absolute best way to learn these hitches.
    So far I've used the prussik & schwabish. I don't climb often, so these are the easiest for me to remember.
    I prefer the one-way action of the schwabish, but on some ropes the prussik holds better.
    I really should get out in my back yard and try them all. I might learn a different one that suits me well.
    I will be 70 this year, so I probably won't climb many more trees. At least I have a motorcycle for fun!
    Thanks Mr. Bino for the great vids you put out❤ Even if I quit climbing, I will still watch for the entertainment and feeling of camaraderie.
    P.S. I usually complain about background music, but towards the end, use chose some great music!

    What a wonderful video!!! It is surprising that no one else I have come across teaches to tie these knots with the assistance of gravity! It's extra effort to wrap upwards against gravity, and your method is so much easier!!! Thank you for such a valuable lesson! : )

I almost was not able to come down.... I had a good look at my knot and realised my knots were not tied correctly especially my distel... Fortunately the tree branches were only about 30feet high....

    Great explanation in the hitches. I’m a hunter and will be climbing trees (one-stick method) and will definitely be using one of those hitches. Any recommendations on which is best for possible wet weather (I heard the schwabisch can lock up when wet) and which rope/hitch sizes you prefer?

    • @BinoH
      @BinoH  3 года назад +2

      I don't climb very often in wet weather. You might give the michoacan or the Knut a try. Not sure how well they will work in wet condtions though. For me th Schwabisch gets tight on dry rope.

    • @BinoH
      @BinoH  Год назад

      It depends. If you are asking the breaking strength the rope we used in the video is at 7,000 pounds and the hitch cord is at 6,500 pounds. If you are wondering how well will each hitch hold in the way I tied them for me they are equal. The all move a bit different some are more grippy and some less. It's good idea to try different one of course low and slow to see what one you perfer.

      @@BinoH Yeah Bino. I watched a different video about tree climbing Prusiks where u said to do 5 wraps with the 28". That's what I did cuz I'm long & lean. I spent a half hour @ the base of the 🌳 testing. My yard with good cover so I didn't look like an idiot or anything. I found that taking 3 to 5 screenshots of the each of the different hitches helped my brain click since I wanted to tie them right the 1st time. That Eccentric with the oval DMM carabiner going through the top hole with a factory tied loop is 1 slick & clean system. Just wanted u to know that there isn't another video out there that I can take 3 to 5 screenshots of the process. I will probably stick with the Michoacon & Knut cuz I like those two ends going the opposite way to attach on either end of the Eccentric. Thank you so much & enjoy the longer & hopefully warmer days😊

      With this cord I bought it with the wrapped ends and tied the double fisherman's bends. Depending on the cord you buy you might be able to melt the end but if it's heat resistant sew the end and whip them then tie your double fisherman's. I don't know if it's a big saving if you are buying one. Each double fisherman's takes a good amount of cord.

I tried my first climb the other day using a Blake’s hitch. After weighting the Blake’s hitch it was so tight it seemed like it didn’t want to slide up. Next time I’ll use a prusik cord and one of these. I’m constantly reminding myself “start low and go slow”. Looking for more beginner advice. Thx!

    ruclips.net/video/nw8_BMlV-o4/видео.html
    There's a one more wrap and IMO it's not really a Taut line hitch as described on animatedknots.com but some of your hitches may be different than the official versions too. Blake's hitch should leave the knot in the middle too. In the end all you need is one that works and that you know and one more when the first one is slipping on a wet rope or something.
