Japan is the second largest music market after the U.S., so bands were established for the domestic market, but with the development of video posting sites, Japan's unique bands and culture seem to be spreading abroad naturally. I'm sure you'll find many more! Have fun!

As somebody else mentioned, your expression when Beni is introduced and begins playing. That is pretty much the reaction the other members of the Wagakkiband had. Yuko, the singer, and the rest had already formed and performed. One day, Beni shows up, said “I’m joining you.”
    They said “…okay.”
Beni had been awarded a national prize in Shamishen; the best in all of Japan on that instrument.
As a comparison, suppose you’re a small band, just breaking out, and Jimmie Page in his prime shows up, “Hey, mind if I join you guys?”
    Yeah, it’s like that.

I absolutely love the Wagakki Band. Other bands have tried to fuse modern and ancient music together in the past, and it never seems to work quite right. Wagakki band nails it. Of course, it helps that all of the traditional instrument musicians are considered "masters" of their instruments in Japan. About the only bands I listen to today are Lovebites, Nemophila, Bandmaid and Wagakki Band. They are putting most western bands to shame right now.

The catalyst for forming the band was Yuko (vocals), The aim was to bring traditional Japanese music and instruments to the youth of Japan. They have toured both the US and Europe successfully. Each are Masters of their instrument and teach. They are more popular in Japan than Babymetal! They perform at many cultural festivals in Japan.

I recomend you to check out "Sakura Rising" in a collab with Evanescence or "Ignite". I think I know why asian music: pop, rock... is amazing. They have a long tradition of theatre, music and performance. Wagakki means traditional instruments, basically. Glad you got round to this amazing band - knew you'd appreciate them. Better throw some new recommendations at you before you think you've seen all that Japan has to offer in the best music for the 21st century! The young but fantastically talented trio Asterism and their song "Gunfire" live in studio - ruclips.net/video/n6OZRHApn3U/видео.html and the shock and awe that is Ningen Isu, another Rock/Metal trio that have been making stunning music for 3 decades (so not so young) - "Heartless Scat" will blow you away - ruclips.net/video/CbI79e5iZKs/видео.html . And of course there's still a few hundred songs left for you to react to just etween Band-Maid, BabyMetal and Lovebites!

YEEEESSSS omg I'm so happy you're reacting to them!!! Spreading the wagakki love 💜💜💜 I'd love if you checked out more.
This one always makes me smile: ruclips.net/video/GxtD7yTItK8/видео.html
This one, Synchronicity, has a bit of a fun jazzy vibe to it: ruclips.net/video/MjvJmU4lhAo/видео.html (it does have a music video, but I can't remember if it's only the ones with their old label that get blocked or not).
I also really want to see them live; the recordings sound great, but they bring such energy to their lives it makes me so happy even just watching on RUclips! I hope they come to the UK (or at least europe) soon 🙏

Here's another live performance of theirs 知恵の果実 (Chie no kajitsu) + 什麼生説破 (Somosan seppa): ruclips.net/video/OaC6ZY0KYVc/видео.html

Wagakki Band are legendary band in Japan. Amazing fusion love them! You should check some other mixed bands like Asterism, the bass as well as guitar work will leave you, yet again, speechless. Also you can't go without Scandal, Unlucky Morpheus, One OK Rock plus Aldious, Ghacaric Spin, Passcode, Wagamama Rakia.
Basically, the Japanese musical rabbit hole is very deep. Material for at least a year, especially if you add J-Pop on top like FEMM, Happiness, e-girls and many, many more. Some are kawaii and with whole assembles of 48 members in each of the major city, which they then pick members for each song, like AKB48 does. It is even more unique method of entertainment companies than the Korean ones. You might forget about the rest of the world if you go down that path :D
But check The Warning (Mexico) and Rolling Quartz (Korea) one of the rare all female rock bands that actually manages to survive K-Pop dominance. They did a cover of Dreamcatcher, so ... why not eh?

If you're liking the Japanese metal and rock train, I suggest you check out bands like The Gazette, Nightmare, Exist Trace, and Sadie. All of those are what is known as "visual kei" which is basically insane glam rock (easiest way for me to describe lol). There are a ton of other groups I could recommend...but that would be one long comment haha. I absolutely love Wagakki Band, so you'll probably like the rest too.

If you want to hear the traditional Japanese drums (called Taiko drums) by themselves, you should look up a band called Kodō. They play drums as small as 6cm across to as big as 3 METERS across!
Also, I don't think anyone on RUclips has done a reaction to them, ever.
