    Wagakki Band is one of the best Japanese groups out there. They combine traditional instruments and vocal styles with modern rock, metal, jazz, and more. All eight members are master level musicians, and their lead singer, the very elegant Yuko Suzuhana, may be the best female Japanese vocalist I have heard. They are the only other Japanese group that comes anywhere close to BabyMetal in international popularity. The video for their song Senbonzakura has more views than Gimme Chocolate. Wagakki Band is even better live, as their stage shows are musical extravaganzas that rival the very best BabyMetal concerts. And speaking of Katana, Yuko Suzuhana often brandishes one in concert.

      @@powertothebauer296 You pose an interesting theory, but I am not convinced. Maybe you could add some detail's for me? Let us begin with Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-Metal). Perhaps you could tell me who did her singing for her the years she attended the Actors School of Hiroshima starting in 2006? Then you could tell me who sang for her when she was a member of the pop/idol trio Keren Girl's. Finally, let me know who sang for her as a member of Sakura Gakuin (the group that spawned BabyMetal) from 2010-2013. After all of that, you could then tell me who sang for Yui Mizuno (Yui-Metal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moa-Metal) during all the years they were members of Sakura Gakuin from 2010-2015. There are scores of videos easily accessible for all of this on RUclips. Either your knowledge of BabyMetal is a bit lacking or some other girls have spent a very long time covering for them.

    • @scipiocorculum
      @scipiocorculum 4 года назад +3

      @@powertothebauer296 You are the one who needs to get real. Did you know that there are videos created by BabyMetal fans for fun that highlight the various mistakes they have made in concerts? Things like Moa adding an extra hedoban! during a performance of headbanger, etc. Do you actually expect me to believe that the people behind BabyMetal are so insidiously brilliant that they add errors to their recordings to make them sound more real? What are they, James Bond villains? It is true that Yui and Moa did do some lip synching in the earliest shows, but they were like eleven at the time. As I have said, in this skeptical word we live in, no performers could get away with faking it for ten years. I think someone besides you would have pointed this out by now. Could it simply be that BabyMetal really are as good as their legions of fans claim?

    • @ray382vk
      @ray382vk 4 года назад

      oh god Babymetal and Wagakkiband are both kind of metal but different. they are both good on their *own way* . it's incomparable... stop comparing..

    • @scipiocorculum
      @scipiocorculum 4 года назад +1

      @@powertothebauer296 Since neither of use is going to change our opinions, this will be my final post on the topic. You still have not answered the question at the heart of this, how has BabyMetal gotten away with faking it in concert for an entire decade?
      Many famous Western singers have been bust lip-syncing over the years by music critics and disgruntled fans. In some notorious cases the outings destroyed those performers careers. Back in 2018, angry BabyMetal fans were ready enough to voice their displeasure when Yui-Metal failed to appear during the tour. So why do they give them a pass on the lip-syncing? How has BabyMetal managed to perpetuate such a blatant and continuous betrayal of their fans year after year in concert after concert? There is one possible explanation, but for it to be true you have to believe in some of the old rumors about BabyMetal. Could it be that the fiendish girls of BabyMetal really are female fox demons, who cast diabolical spells upon their unsuspecting audiences in order to feast upon their souls?

But it's interesting that they treat the Bible as some really interesting literature with some possible historical references rather than the literal Gospel like Evangelicals in the US. You can see this in Japanese literature or anime (like Ghost in the Shell) where characters will quote the Bible, but the shows or the characters aren't specifically Christian.

And I encourage you to react "Pentagram/Mezarkabul - Lions in a Cage (Live at 'BGM' / 04.02.07)", it is a song referred to "Osman the III (25th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire)". He was 4 years old when his father was deposed from the throne, then he imprisoned behind the walls, where he lived in there for 51 years waiting his turn to come. Pentagram (they go by the name "Mezarkabul" for international releases) is known for integrating Anatolian elements into their music and considered one of the greatest and pioneers for the spread of the metal music in Turkey. Good reaction fellas, super keen to see Wagakki Band live myself, would be such an epic experience. If you want to check out a great Japanese metal band give Unlucky Morpheus - CADAVER/REVADAC a listen. They're basically a Japanese metal super-group. It's a long song (about 9 minutes) but the second part uses the reverse musical score of the first and an opposing theme, The film clip itself is reversed, but fits really well with parts being in-sync with the first part and the second at different points. The guitarist Shiren writes all the music and classed it as technical melodic speed metal, he also does the backing keys and has played the trumpet at live shows. Vocalist Fuki writes all the lyrics and is probably the best vocalist on the Japanese metal scene. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

    Have you guys heard MAXIMUM THE HORMONE? They're another Japanese metal band I think is really good. My favorite song of theirs to listen to is Yoshu Fukushu, or Chū Chū Lovely. They also did the second opening and ending songs for the Death Note anime, "What's up, people?!" and "Zetsubō Billy" ("Billy in Despair").

    This song actually starts with a great drum solo performance by the wadaiko (traditional Japanese drums) but this video cuts it out.

    Why more Wagakki band! They're awesome because they blend traditional Japanese instruments with rock instruments. "Ignite" is a great produced video. You'll get a better aural experience and visual.
    If you're interested I have the English translation to the lyrics for "Ignite". Rather, the best translation I could get from two different people from Japan. They are in "old" Japanese, which makes it difficult to translate them exactly. Also, there is a lot of history about the instruments they are using. Your "putty knife" is actually a bachi -
    "The shamisen or samisen, also sangen, is a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument derived from the Chinese instrument sanxian. It is played with a plectrum called a bachi."
    So glad you found this band. Hit me up if you want the lyrics for Ignite!

      Buddy of mine couldn't remember the name of the instrument, so he just called it "samurai banjo" and that description has stuck with me ever since.

    The band Merging Moon, the song "Greyen". Why, it has all the elements of modern metal, riffs, drums, growl, scream, melodic all mixed into one.. But there's a twist, I'll let you see that for yourselves.

    alot of japanese bands do instrument solos at some point before actually going into a song, so something that was originally 3-4 minutes becomes 7-8 minutes because they do the solos leading up to the song

    though I also came from the land with a sun and 3 stars, I really listen to Japanese bands and Wagakki Band is among them.
    If you have spare time to review another Japanese band I am following, I would look forward to it. Band's name is "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", I know the name doesn't rock anywhere but at times these dudes turn moshpit into a party floor.
    Their bassist just died before 2020 and the song "The Stronger, The Further You'll Be" was I guess a dedicatory song for him with the new bassist. Another info is their guitarist looks very unique in every music videos they have (like Wes Borland w/o the paint and stuff), guess that catches your attention. ;)
