I talk to my sister who lives in Newport and she talks about the prices going up and the empty shelves at the local Wal-Mart and grocery stores. Sure, wages have gone up after 2 years in many places, but the cost of living including housing has more than doubled. To live in most places of the USA you need to go without a lot of modern conveniences AND get paid at least $21 per hour, and have at least 10 hours per day for more than 22 days a month. Right now, a senior on social security cannot afford the market rate for a one bedroom apartment in ANY state in the country. Also, heathcare insurance has more than tripled in the last few years. I remember paying $175 a month for insurance that now costs $800 per month. Gas was $2.90/gallon in 2019, now it's $5.00 where I am. A bag of chicken that cost $6.49 back in 2020, now that exact same bag has less weight inside and costs $13.49. The list goes on and on... I can't wait to leave the US.

It is so sad. Where I live older people are going through trash cans looking for aluminum cans just to get a little extra money. To see the elderly digging in the trash just to survive is beyond belief. They are not doing this to save the environment. They are doing this to survive themselves.
People are working later in life here in the US these days as they have been unable or maybe unwilling (think boats, motorhomes, expensive toys) to save enough for retirement. Pensions are for the most part a thing of the past, and while social security is a nice safety net it by no means provides enough income to live comfortably on. So people end up staying in the working world longer. The statistics on the amount of money average folks are able to save by age 65 are simply shocking and sad, not sure what a lot of people will be doing as they get beyond the years where they are able to perform any job at all. That said, at least there is some safety net, much better than in countries where they have nothing. We have had many talks with our kids regarding the importance of saving and investing early on, while there are never any guarantees at least you can tip the probability of success in your favor if you start young enough.
I do not think you need to pay a lawyer to get your passport. All that you do is go to their office. I think there is one in every state. Google where to get it. You just need your ID and I think your social security card and two passport IDs.
With unemployment under 4%, every economist pout there will tell you that is BAD for employers. It means the majority of hiring, comes from leeching employees from other jobs. This inherently means wages HAVE to shoot up. TN, is 1 of 2 states with no State Min Wage at all, so the $7.25 Federal is still the legal min wage there.
Tennessee will never implement a State Min. Wage over the Federal. The Democrats controlled the TN house other than like 4 years from 1883 until 2008 and to my knowledge never did anything on that issue. I seriously doubt the Republicans currently in control have any interest either

As an American citizen and veteran i hate what is going on politically now and the woke far left policies that are tearing the county apart. I am conservative and although i was planning my move to Philippines to spend time with my filipina after retirement anyways i knew and could see back after the election of 2020 that America was going down quickly. I could go on and on about this but I won't. Being in Philippines has it's positive and negative things. The positive is the people and the nice weather but the biggest negative is the food that i enjoyed eating in usa is not readily available where i am in province of mindanao. Im looking forward to a good steak, some mexican and American style chinese food as well. I try to keep up with the politics in America and sometimes wish i hadn't. Same thing is happening all over the world even Philippines u and I don't feel it as much in Philippines as our foreign dollar over 52 pesos. Not everybody can adapt to living overseas. But some like us can.
Universal Basic Income (UBI) can do so much to keep people a float, stimulate the economy, keep families together, and effectively support the middle and working class!!! The new American dream is to make money in the US and live somewhere else!!!
I just read a paper about a month ago by the economist Milton Friedman. He was apparently a lifelong proponent of UBI and pitched it to both Nixon and Reagan. Was a very interesting read

@@DrLawaytravels my only worry about that is the control they will have over us. This is similar to EBT in the minds of those that govern us. It is because everyone will receive one and to them there is no more difference as to whether or not we worked for it or not. My worry is that we will be told how to spend it, where to spend it like those in EBT. I know because I was a cashier long time ago when EBT was still called food stamp. They were told what to buy. If they do not spend all the amount, next month they will send smaller amount. They cannot do that with my retirement now because they know I worked so many years for it. These days they are given EBT debit cards. That is what they use. That is an easy way to monitor their money. I assume that the same will be given to everyone. Unlike direct bank deposit, we can save, at least. With debit card, we will be lucky if we be able to get cash from it. EBT debit cards, the holders can't get cash. They can't buy cigarettes, liquor, and other stuff they really like. Government just want them to spend money on fruits and vegetables although they are allowed to buy crab legs. See, the registers know that you have a government card. If you ring items that is not allowed it won't accept it. This is what I was talking about. -- control. My two cents. Please just think about this.

So I believe America is the greatest country in the world. However, we face significant threats from many countries around the world (economically, politically, and physically) - Look at Russia and China and the actions they are currently taking. We also face huge threats from AI and automation. These technologies can create huge economic gains, but can also put a lot of white color jobs at risk. But when you state America has to get back on track and protect the lower and middle class, I would agree. But, I think, we differ on how the government has to accomplish this. I would state that for this government to have compromised and agreed to pay it's debt (meaning pay for what it had already agreed to spend) and NOT go into default shows we still have enough intelligent politicians (people we elected) to do what is best for America. Thus Republicans and Democrats still work together when it is required. Making America great! The bigger issue are lunnies we have elected who want to hold their own party hostage to my way or the highway.
I had wondered if that was going on in the UK. You know I lived in London for a year (which is really different from the rest of the UK) but the only mall or department store I remember seeing or going into was Harrods. Most of the people back then working at grocery stores and fast food were under 40 just like the USA at the time. Of Course that was back in the early 90's, so I bet it is unrecognizable now just like places in the USA.
When you take someone from 7 dollars to 15 dollars you put them into a higher tax bracket and this is what this is all about. It trickles down to the consumers in many ways and restaurants suffer the most. People are just not tipping anymore because of the cost of the food and the staff depends on these tips to subsidies their wages. Wages at fast food restaurant were never designed to be a living wage but supplemental income for students and retired people. Now we have people who have 6th grade educations who barely speak English making the same as a construction workers. Bidenomics at its finest.
Where did he say Trump is the answer to our problems? "Make America Great Again" didn't start with Trump. I get the feeling he would welcome any fresh face who can get down to business and work on fixing these problems. We need some practical leaders.
Why not Trump, protected ordinary Americans from going bankrupt and living in hard condition while democrats send all the money abroad and protect illegal immigrants. Inflation high because some leader refused to talk to another leader causing the world economy to spiral down.

I do not think you need to pay a lawyer to get your passport. All that you do is go to their office. I think there is one in every state. Google where to get it. You just need your ID and I think your social security card and two passport IDs.
Great video.

Sorry I do not.
When have you ever seen prices go back down?? Never. I am retired, and would have to live like a squatter..
The most recent was after 2008 in the US the housing market and many commodities dropped. The market was in an artificial bubble at the time.

Im below Dumaguette for 3 more weeks. Still work in the US. The US has gone down hill and the inflation rate is 30% plus. 😢
I seriously doubt the Republicans currently in control have any interest either
so tell me something did they take your blood in the Philippines or just give you the visa?

I wonder if fixed income retirees begin to move internationally in greater numbers what will that do to cost of living in those countries and will the nationals begin to resent the immigrants. You know…the whole supply and demand thingy.
Funny Chick-fil-A was on my list to go to while in the US. I was only really near two of them, one was on a Sunday so closed and I went to Arby's. The Second was at the Dallas airport and I found it right after I had eaten lol. I have never seen one abroad but my god it is my favorite chicken sandwich from anywhere. Also the best waffle fries!

I have to go back to the usa to take care of some personal issues and see some of my doctors and visit my son and grandson. I hate the long flights but i feel i have to do this. It's so hard to watch what is happening in America under this corrupt administration. Im too old to make a difference now and keep hoping that a majority of people will stand up for what is moral and right.
@@DrLawaytravels almost became a reality during the Nixon years until the Democrats back then wanted more.

There's more to be done in accounting for every Filipino to incentivize them to love for their country and their own. I may need some help...

Personally, we fall into that class of those who have done some ex-pat research to both the Philippines and Mexico. Aside from inflation here in the U.S., and as you indicated, the political environment right now is very negatively alarming. I'm willing to pull the trigger as a result, but not the wife.
It's becoming more common here in the UK to see older people of retirement age working in malls etc
In US too. 75 still working.
