    Awesome review like always! As you mentioned, it depends on the computer and program specs you're working with. I've seen people have no issues with a drawing program, and have some issues with sculpting programs and vice versa. I believe with a bit of customization for everyone's own needs, you could definitely get maximum enjoyment and productivity out of these pen displays. I do enjoy all your reviews and how in depth you go in order to provide your insights on creator tools.

      The Artist 22 is priced very competitively at $470 which is not much higher than the Artist 15.6 Pro at $400. It's obviously meant for those who want a big display on a budget, at that price point some corners must be cut in order to keep the price low. A higher resolution would make it shoot up a lot.
      Both XP-Pen (Artist 24 Pro) and Huion (Kamvas Pro 24) have QHD screens, but you gotta pay for it.

    the thing I think about all these chinese tablets is the driver support takes a little while to get updated. They are probably releasing the product as soon as the hardware development is done because its very competitive industry . I had the exact same issues with my HUION Kamvas when I first got it but after a few weeks the new drivers fixed all issues. Its working great even 2 years later now.

  • @brushonfire8800
    @brushonfire8800 3 года назад +4

    all these people asking for 4k resolution and multi touch dont get it ....those are very expensive features. The chinese companies dont want to ask people to pay more than 1000$ because at that point they are competing with wacom.
    truly you dont even need a 4k drawing tablet. Think about it if your working you need a drawing monitor AND a reference display of higher quality because the matte screen is going to change your colors no matter how good or how hi resolution.... think about it....thats why the new Wacom cintiqs are all glossy screens...personally I would rather have a very good reference monitor and a OK but very large drawing monitor than to have one and draw on glossy screen

    7:30 I JUST got this model and I'm testing it out now. I've been referring back to this video to go over some points. But I do not seem to get the "Calibrate" option. This might be something I'll have to contact XP-Pen about.
    *update* I had to contact XP-Pen about this. I'm using the USB-C connection to a Mac mini. If the connection is to a laptop or a 2nd monitor, you will have the calibration button. BUT, if the XP-Pen monitor is the only thing hooked up to a desktop computer, then you will NOT see the calibrate button. I'm not sure if it would be any different if I had used the HDMI + USB cable connection.

    Like with Cintiq 22 once you start working the ag film will wear out quite quickly (few month of intensive work), and you don't have really many ways to replace it. Doing it yourself would be a nightmare (i remember myself trying to apply a phone screen protector with no dust underneath). This is a big cons for me.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад

      XP-Pen does sell replacement screen protectors but as you mentioned it's difficult to replace it yourself.
      But it's actually not too bad because when you tear off the current screen protector, there should not be any dust.

    • @sevezart
      @sevezart 3 года назад

      Yes, right, it is possible to replace it. But very small dust particles fly in the air all the time. With the phone I used a “hot bathroom” approach, because the excessive humidity make dust particles stick together. And even with this measure the dust still can somehow get under the protector, though much less likely. But, sorry, I can’t imagine doing it with a 22 inch tablet :). You can search on RUclips for a videos of guys who professionally apply different films on big screens - you might be surprised how hard it is...

      It depends on your workflow and the shortcuts you need, I work as a 3D Artist for collectible market and I really prefer to use the keyboard for shortcuts than the buttons on the screen (ZBrush really needs a lot of shortcuts and no display will have so many on the screen hahahahaha)
      So the Display Pen without the buttons on the screen are much better for me, because the display will need less space on my workspace and the shortcuts for me are useless on the display :P
      So it all depends on how you work and how many shortcuts you need, probably for an Illustrator using Photoshop, the Pro version with the display shortkeys would be great 😊

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  3 года назад +1

      Not sure about that. But more options and competition is great for consumers.
      When I reviewed this, it reminded me of the years where these companies would just use generic design pen displays with their brands pasted. And many models have cables that just crush together when you lower the display because the cables all come out from the bottom. lol.
      Pen displays from 2020 are so much better. 2021 should see even better products.

    • @ToddDolce
      @ToddDolce 3 года назад

      @@teohyc I agree about having more options, but lets be honest here,....there are just way too many options with very little to almost no difference between them. Although maybe not bad for the consumer,..its a horrible business model. Rather than just keep releasing new models that are basically the same every 3-6 months,...how about coming out with something significantly better every other year and just release driver and firmware improvements for the models that already exist? Do we really need 10 models of basically the same thing every 6 months to a year? Makes zero sense and only confuses the consumer moreso than helps them. Release a product and then SUPPORT it for awhile and offer improvements via software and driver updates. THEN,....release a newer model altogether a couple of years later. By over saturating their product line you are basically "de-valuing" it. Just a really poor way to run a business. Just my opinion. Others will vary.

    • @brushonfire8800
      @brushonfire8800 3 года назад

      @@ToddDolce you need to understand this is not the western business model....its the chinese business model. They release the product constantly and with minor improvements to meet the needs of the current consumer. They dont do like apple or Microsoft and spend years on research and development to offer a new experience. They are trying to give you the best for the price right now. As far as whether that business model works....of course yes it does. The biggest phone market share is now Huawei ahead of apple and samsung.
