The second I see a pen display that I am remotely interested in.... I come straight here. I trust your opinion on these products more than anyone. Thank you so much for this review. This gives me an idea of what I might need when it comes displays.
I've spent hours and hours of my life watching you drawing slow, diagonal lines with and without a ruler. I don't need new drawing gear, I just like your reviews.
I've had this for about a year now, and I freaking love it. Don't have anything to compare it to but your review helped me into getting it. Love your reviews and am now thinking of getting a smaller one that's more portable!
Still, 2k is enough to push for better competitive prices, at least with the entry level Wacom products. I’d rather buy a 20-something inch display with 2k rather than Wacom’s 16/22 inch Cintiqs with just HD.
With the price being what it is, would you recommend this over the 22e? Stock for this model, as well as price, are making it difficult to get a hold of, while the 22e is readily in stock on Amazon and is under $450. Would you say the differences between the E and R are enough to say wait for the r to restock and come down in price, or do you feel the 22e is of about equal quality? Asking because i need to upgrade my setup due to health reasons (larger tablet is easier on my arm/wrists, and the buttons let me use the tablet for shortcuts rather than a keyboard) and i'm not sure how long it will take to restock and or drop the price of the 22r. Love all your videos, they've been a huge help to me over the years.
Bought this one on sale for like $489! I was holding out on buying the 22E with the hopes that they were going to release a newer model. Lo and behold the 22R comes along and I knew I had to pick this one up. I will agree that driver installation is a bit difficult to set up because there are so many options and permissions you have to allow the software to access. But past that, this display has been working wonders for me. I've always wanted to work on a larger display coming from the original XP-Pen15.6 and man it is so nice!
I am just getting started with 2d animation in Adobe animate and crazy talk animator, and I am super confused as to which device I should go for. I have a windows laptop at the moment but i need a device to draw on. Could you guys please share your opinions? Ipad or wacom pen display or xp or huion? which one do you recommemd and why? Thanks in advance!
Well, I would reccomend iPad for begginers who want to draw or start doing animation... But if you already get into Windows, then a Drawing monitor would be faster for your workflow, since you don't need to transfer files between iPad to PC/laptop (because you did the whole thing in PC/laptop)... For the reccomend, it depends on your budget and your needs, also how much do you travel/do you work in home... My reccomendation is Huion Kamvas Pro 16 / XP Pen Artist 15.6 pro. Both of them would be big enough while you still can use Keyboard for Shortcuts. But both of them would need 17" laptop bag of you want to bring it along. And if you want a smaller one (for lighter weight), you may get Huion Kamvas pro 13/XP pen Artist 13.3 pro. Both can fit standard 15" laptop bag, so it has better size for some little traveling... But, if you travel a LOT, like going to cafe, parks, beach, waterfall, etc. preparing the laptop+setting up the drawing Monitor would be too much, since they're not that portable... It would be a legit reason to get iPad, since procreate now also support animation, and you can send those drawing to PC when you get home..
Also, big you're going to 100% doing animation at home, a 20" drawing monitors like Huion Kamvas pro 20/21 and XP Pen Artist 22E pro/XP Pen Artist 22 R pro (the one in this video), would be a good idea, Even though you can't use keyboard shortcut because those large monitor mostly won't allow you to use keyboard (too far to reach if you put it on side, and impossible to put in the backside of the monitor. And it would be too big if you put keyboard in front of it). 15-16 display tablet would be a good choice if you want to work at home, since it's big enough and the keyboard is Still easy to be reach... In case you went with 20-21 inch drawing monitors, you may be interested in buying small/mini keyboard since your usual keyboard would be too big to reach.
@@01_zenyobi Actually you are wrong on this, this model's (xp-pen 22R pro) new stand allows you to put keyboard behind it (it's in a shape of ^) while keeping the tablet in a comfortable position (sure you can't put it in between stand the the screen if you go totally vertical mode but I doubt people draw like that anyway) - and I have a huge keyboard. Actually the previous 16pro stand makes it much more difficult to put keyboard behind it. Just an insight ;-).
Ehm, I might be wrong but is adobe animate even available for ipad? I thought they never ported it. Considering you are having a laptop I'll separate it into 2 categories. If you want to be portable then the 2019 models from xp-pen or huion up to the size of 15.6" (included) are fine for you (the models of the same size year before are bigger so it's not as comfortable to use on the go) especially if you are on a budget - there's no reason to buy wacom at this range you just don't get any value for the cost. If you want to go larger screen which is less portable (obviously 20" or 22" screen is far from being portable it's huge ;-)) then I'd say huion and xp-pen have currently great options from both 2019 and 2018, wacom compare to the 2019 models of the other 2 companies offers better screen resolution here but the cost goes up quite a bit so this depends on you too, when it comes to drawing/paiting capabilities you don't have to worry about these 3 brands so it's more of a budget decision and if you think you need higher res - or you can wait a few months apparently huion will be introducing 2k 22" or 20" - search internet for this I just read other people talking about it and some photos. But with higher res screens you can expect higher price so if the current ones are already scratching your budget ceiling then just pick which ever you like and if possible whichever is currently on sale (both xp-pen and huion have sales quite often - winter, summer, plus some special events, plus pre-release huge sale). I hope this helps at least a bit.
@@ViktorsJournal Adobe animate ? in Apple Mac desktop, Yes. In iPad, Not yet. Even though im glad that XP pen 22R pro were possible to be used with Keyboard (despite having a lot of Shortcuts already), I don't understand Which 16 pro that doesn't allow the keyboard (the XP pen Artist 16 pro, or the Huion Kamvas 16 Pro). If you mean the XP pen Artist 16 pro, that can be considered as obsolete Old model with only low amount of colour range (
An interesting observation, when you stressed out that it's a pen display, and several times it is, I realized how people don't really pay attention. I sold my old Cintiq 21UX couple of weeks ago and I had several questions about what operation system does it run on and does it have pre installed apps... like, guys, you are looking for a drawing tablet, and you have a description of it in the offer and yet you STILL ask about that? XD
Thre's a lot of people who try to get/change into digital art, and they didnt know a lot about the technology... While there's another person who knows about the technology (but suck at drawing)..
@@01_zenyobi lol that's me, except i love digital art, whenever i get interested in something i do research for 2+ hours cause there's no way I'm spending my parent's money in something i don't know (I'm 11) and i still don't understand as to how people buy something without already having a basic understanding of the product.
@@rin7836 I also love digital art and able to draw normal to average stuff (and also have enough Photoshop skill).. but I'm not that great at drawing (I can draw everything accurately from my view, except humans&animal, especially faces and hair). And about the question why people buy something without already having basic understanding of the product.. It's because Many people just use their hunch feeling and thinks that That they could understand the product just by taking a look at it. Or thinking it's just like another product they have before (without knowing it's a different product). Or you can simply said it's just their ignorance. For example, I remember one review from Amazon (Of Huion drawing monitor, I forget which one) A mother complaining because the tablet need to be connected to monitor and it doesn't include drawing app for her daughter to draw. She says that it's a scam that she had to buy it separately. And she also said it worked than her old tablet (because she don't have to install/connect to computer).. What we can learn from here ? Is that She think that because she also bought a Tablet before, she thinks that this Huion "Tablet" would be just like her old one, but bigger and better (and cheaper than the High end tablet on the market like ipad air, ipad pro, etc.). But then she thinks it's a scam, because "why tablet this big still needs to be connected to computer", Especially when her old one were smaller and doesn't need to. Forgoting that big and accurate display that could be used with pen would be pricier than regular big monitor.. We can see that she just bought what could be "cheap" and think with her hunch.. and when she finally know that she buy something different from what she thought, she just assume its a scam instead of accepting that her hunch is wrong/acknowledge that she buy the wrong thing.. Also that they have their own money, for something that's not that important/expensive (depends on the amount of Money they have)..
@@rin7836 Anyway, for a kid like you A Tablet would be perfect.. Ipad 7th gen + Apple pencil is the cheapest with best quality While the cheapest you can get is Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 with S pen. If you already have PC/Laptop, an display tablet would be good. The best Budget to performance ratio you can get is the Huion Kamvas 13 (non pro). It looks cool (nice body colour) and cheap with decent drawing screen and easy to set up. You can just connect it with USB C (if you have USB C thunderbolt/USB C Display) or just one Display adapter and 2 usb slot. No need for External power source like the one on this video. Or if you want the big size, you can get some old Huion Kamvas 20 (that still uses recharging pen, unlike nowadays Huion that already use non recharging pen. It's a good idea to save money for bigger screen, as it's still usable). If you plan to upgrade, there's Huion Kamvas pro 16 and XP Pen artist 15.6 pro (they're the same size). Or maybe the newest XP Pen Innovator 16, it has the coolest and anti-mainstream design.. Honorable mention : - Huion Kamvas 12 - XP Pen Artist 12 Pro - XP Pen Artist 13 Pro _________________________________________ If you want to minimize budget, You can choose graphics tablet (known as Pentab aka pentablet) It's harder to learn (since you need to draw without looking into your hands but the screen). The cheapest with decent feature I can get is the Huion H640P and XP Pen G640S It's kind of easy to learn since they're not too small.. Both had the same size of the Wacom small (some professional Artis use Wacom small). The best medium size tablet is Huion H1060P and XP Pen Deco Pro Small/medium. Avoid XP pen Deco 3, if you're want to save budget. Deco Pro Small is way better than that. Another honorable mention : - Huion H950P (I use this one, it was cheap in my country) - XP Pen Deco 01 V2 (must get the V2, the one without V2 have worse pen) - Huion Hs64 (alternative to H640P, there's yellow version that may appeal to some people) After one year of my research of tablets and stuff, that's all I can give to you.. Don't forget to save some of your spending. Either to buy some program/advise, or to upgrade your hardware.. I remember I was an reckless, and a dumb 11 year old back then... I would spent a lot of money to play in the gaming cafe.. And of course I have spending, but I use it for game too.. Then I realized, I spent too much.. enough amount to get a whole PC or something worth.. Especially at that time I was interested in tablets (Tablet for games,, I'm not smart enough to understand that if I learn to draw, I could use the skill professionally later. at that time, only Samsung tablet has Quad core processor, while the other only has double core or else and Ram for tablets were only about 512MB-1GB). And now, I don't want you to repeat my mistake (failing to balance game and learning skills). I give you the best Info I know...
Having to upgrade from my old screen tablet because the pen on it broke and the batteries are patented for whatever reason (not XP/WACOM/anything like that, a noname brand). Really excited for when I get this.
2:08 Oh yeah baby, glove dance! Now my soul is satisfied. Funny/sad thing is that I went from a Wacom Intuos 4 that I bought used from a friend, to a new XP-Pen Artist 16 Pro. I used the XP-Pen for maybe 2 month and they I swapped back to the Wacom and it was not a conscious decision, it just happen. It was just recently that I noticed it and I think that it was that the screen was to small and the resolution was not as high as I wanted. It is not a bad product but I wish I knew this about my self before i bought it.
I doubt many people "downgrade" from Wacom. And I also find that the size tends to matter quite a lot. I've been drawing with a 15' drawing tablet for years and anything smaller or bigger implodes. So for now, any tech I buy is going to be around that size only
I wouldn't mind one of those 24' (or larger) drawing screens as long as the resolution is higher than just 1080p. I have a good friend that have the new big 27' Wacom Cintiq and I can't stop try it out each time I'm at his place.
Yeah,..I have learned that too. Everyone has their sweet spot when it comes to a comfortable working space. The goal here is to not go broke while trying to figure out what that spot is. I would love to try the app Procreate but a tiny 13" screen is NUTS in regards to the iPad. I have large hands and the lack of a decent sized bezel plus space needed for app GUI's would leave me with a stamp-sized working space. That's ridiculous for me! And NO,...I don't want to always have to keep zooming in and out. I think 32" sized Wacom's would also be the opposite; too large. I'm thinking 22-24" is where the balance is right for me. I have a 15" Notebook Pro and that still feels cramped.
@@ennuiwolf I "downgraded" from Wacom. Have had MULTIPLE cintiqs. Iv hated them all. I bought an Xp pen artist 15.6 Pro. And Ive never lived a tablet more. I later bought an artist 12 pro. Both tablets are amazing. I was a snob who didn't take anything but Wacom and Photoshop. I changed my mindset after some business changed happened to both Wacom and Adobe. Now I use XP pen and Clipstudio and literally couldn't be happier.
Once I fell asleep with my hand on the drawing tablet I’m the summer and when I woke up I was so scared that my hand was like literally stuck to the tablet
Wait what !?!? No Parralax test ?? Come on, we want to see how much the distance between the glass and the pen tip. If you can, please show some pic (by replying this comment with a link of the picture)...
You can see in my channel a test I did when XP Pen sent me a firmware update for this tablet. There is some parallax, but I'm tottaly fine with it. It's not a perfection like iPad Pro, but way better than the old models of every pen displays.
Where did you hear that? I'd like to see a source. I really wanna upgrade from my Cintiq 21UX, it's starting to really show its age now but I don't consider going to 1080p (from 1600x1200) a big enough upgrade. 2k resolution would be an instant buy from me. Edit: Nevermind, I found a source! www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/huion-at-ces-2020-latest-announced-graphics-tablets-are-ready-to-inspire-creatives-300980804.html
@@Floreum Yes! Should be here soon. I emailed them about 2 weeks ago. It may be the perfect size and resolution combination available (outside of Wacom) I'm VERY interested in it too and cannot wait to see how it behaves once in the market. I'm guessing March 2020. Edit: It was also on display at the CES recently.
You've officially conviced me to get this over the Huion gt-221 ! 👌 those were the two in competition but your review is telling me everything i needed to know !
I finally got the Artist 12 Pro and I love it. My only complaint is that the newest drivers don't allow the pen to work (you need to use an older driver).
It was on sale for $499 in December but it was out of stock. I'm waiting for that price drop to happen again. I've been using a Wacom I bought years ago that has been having all sorts of issues for the last 3 years. When I reached out ot Wacom they said you just need to get a new one we aren't making new drivers for older machines. After that responseI refuse to buy another Wacom. A $2,500 device should last longer than 6-8 years.
Hello Brad, thanks for your reviews - I really love your videos. Since you have already tested a few different graphic tablets, I have a question for you. What would you choose for your own work: XP-Pen Artist 22R or Huion Camvas Pro 22? And why? :) I would be very interested in your opinion and experience.
Great review as always Brad. A general question: Do any of the pen displays that you have reviewed make use of power over USB or Thunderbolt? Especially for the smaller ones, this seems to be the last big missing feature for people who need to take their work with them when travelling.
I almost missed the sale for this tablet! I would have to settle for imagining what my work would be like on a better screen if that $700 price tag was the take it or leave it price. Thankfully, I was able to get mine for $385. I kinda needed a new tablet anyway since my current one has been cursor hopping, screen tearing, it decalibrates at the edges constantly, and the pen connectivity registers clicks and gestures on its own without my input.
Thanks for another useful insight. I would appreciate your in-depth take on parallax of these screens. Because on Huion kamvas it is a huge deal breaker.
Hey brad, amazing review have cleared all query I've had but does this support multi touch or you have to completely rely on stylus? And will it work with auto desk sketchbook?
Hey Brad, first of all, im a big fan of your work. Now to the main part: I really wanna get more into digital art. I watched a bunch of reviews and got down to either the Huion Kanvas pro 13 or the iPad pro. I think I like the iPad more because of its mobility. I just don´t know if Procreate has evolved enough to ceep up with desktop-apps like Clipstudio Paint. What do you think? Is having "just" an iPad pro enough or are there still drawbacks compared to a pen-display?
I'd be curious to find out what you think of the Gaomon PD2200. It looks like it has the same pressure levels, tilt, size and resolution as the XP-Pen along with a battery-free stylus but also has a 92%NTSC fully laminated IPS screen and sells for only $399 on Amazon. Unfortunately, it seems that there are nearly zero reviews for it. The only negative I've seen is the lack of physical express keys or a dial (instead it has 6 or 8 capacitive touch buttons along one side). So I'm wondering if it's worth the money or if I should get one of the tablet displays from Huion or XP-Pen instead.
The missing feature is *touch*. I've gotten so used to drawing in Leonardo on a Surface Go that I can't suddenly give up touch... It seems that if I want a large touch drawing display I have to get a Cintiq Pro or something in that price range.
Hey brad ty for the great video, QUESTIONS: currently as of 10/3/2022 the 22R is on sale for $470 and the 22E is selling for $499. Other than rechargeable pen on the E and less buttons , no wheels, no tilt support, why would you want it over the R , Is the 22R for the money today? $20 more for less ? Am I missing something, here Brad? I have a basic Wacom intuos now (no display) & krita software. My budget for either of these will be a stretch. Thankyou for taking the time to respond to my questions , I really appreciate finding your vids.
I've bought this display less then 24 hours ago, still waiting on the delivery. And while researching the topic(it is worth th price and comparing it with E version) was amused that there is no video about it from Brad. And here it is!
They could go for a step inbetween Wacom Cintiq Pros and this for a competitive price. I see many of these tablets jump from full HD straight to "4K". Why not a QHD(2560x1440) bonded screen in the 16" to 22" range? I can only recall one screen tablet with this specific resolution and it's no longer made so it's another space just waiting to be filled. I wouldn't imagine it being quite as cheap as $700 but that would be an awesome price point to aim for. The only other way to improve and have the specs remain the same I see is with added accessories such as an adjustable stand which would be more likely. Things like that can really tip a consumer towards your product imo.
I have the Artist 22E Pro and XP-Pen absolutely need to start selling 4K versions of these larger displays. 1080p is too low a pixel density for a display of this size. It's not impossible to draw on but it is very noticeable.
To summarize... How would you compare it with the Wacom Cintiq 22? Is it worth giving up Huion Kamvas Pro 22's laminated screen for either of these model?
On of the best reviews on this product! I've been trying to install the pen tablet driver to complete my setup. No luck. I am on a MAC running OS14.4. In addition, my display turns on (blue light) and quickly moves to power-saving mode (orange). Do you have any suggestions? I reached out to XPen and waiting for response.
ØldWine from my experience I can’t live without pinch zoom. I still use a pinch zoom when navigating my drawing on a Cintiq pro 16. I’m fine on. 11” pro when drawing. But I need that pinch zoom. Regular drawing both are fine.
If you're just a begginers , with no PC or advanced hardware/software experience, and didn't need any specific feature/program from Window that didn't exist in apple and other OS (which is rarely happens), It would be wiser for you to choose iPad 7th gen instead of Wacom One Display.
One way I would improve them is to decrease the display/bezel size A 20" feels like a 24" just bc of the express keys but also bc of the bezels There was to be enough bezel so that I can draw on the edges but the display could definitely be less frickin wide They could put express keys in the back, behind the bezels & display, have the other hand grip around the side to press them Obviously u can't see them but when I press the keys I don't look at them anyway, u learn which one is which
room for upgrade? Make it have a high refresh screen just for the heck of it, a display for drawing, gaming and just watching in general would be sick, but just imagining the amount of dough that would be needed to be thrown for such a gadget...
Is Adobe RGB better than NTSC or are they both just similar? I have a Parblo Coast 22 and its a tad bit annoying whenever I'm reminded that the colors on that tablet look off when compared to another monitor or even my phone screen. Also, i don't see you mention color calibration much but whenever i Google other reviews there's so many ppl talking about getting or needing one of those Spyder calibrator things, what's your opinion on that topic?
Adobe RGB, NTSC, sRGB, DCI, etc. are just different percentages of the visible color spectrum, Wikipedia has a good page explaining them if you'd like to look into them further. Also, if you are serious about art, you should definitely go for the Spyder to guarantee color accuracy.
Hi Brad, Can you tell how light or heavy xp-pen’s initial actuation force compare to wacom? Because xp-pen used to need higher force to initiate strokes than wacom. (8g vs 3g) I wonder if xp-pen has improved it ever since.
The stylus may be battery free. But it isn't dust free. This pen monitor seems reall good, but i will wait for Huion Kamvas Pro 24 at 1440p. I hope it isn't very expensive.
Can you help me understand how XP-PEN 22R works as a hardware. Does it work as a second monitor? Can you for example use it for watching movies, play games or does it have it's own integrated ram etc. like a Ipad? Sorry for this incredibly stupid question.
how would you rate the stand compared to the 15.6? i don't like the stand it came with at all... Also with the 15.6 there is a hot spot that i find "at least in mine" in the top left cause i'm a lefty or the bottom right if you have the the proper way around, Not sure if it's good or bad but running my hand over it gets a little alarming.
in our country sells for $1,000.I don't know if I should buy it.I would like a graphics tablet that will be 22 inches. It's a big investment for me. I can't get a better 22-inch graphics tablet with dial wheels and customizable shortcut keys, can I?
Brad, this may be a silly ask, but as more tablets are coming with this functionality, did you manage to check and see if, just for the sake of testing, your Galaxy Note 10 Plus phone worked with this? As always, I love your reviews and eagerly await them on all the new art tech stuff!
According to xp-pen the 22R pro has less parallax then their 15.6 pro from 2019, they used different (they say new but who knows) technology that's why it's not called a laminated display.
Could someone be so nice and tell me a history of the glorious glove dance? I discovered this channel several days ago and it baffles and amazes me at the same time. I mean if there's a compilation of all glove dances i would watch it xd
I guess this can be used as a display and also an input device. Is that correct? If so, can it mirror the screen of the main monitor, or a window of the monitor? For example, could it work with a Mac Mini?
I was on the fence about getting a Huion or XP pen this past weekend. I settled for the Huion Kamvas 13 Pro. I'm not a pro artist by any means so the small things that could get on some artitsts' nerves wasn't a concern for me. So far it's going well. I really wanted Mischief to work with the tablet but the program is no longer getting updates and the cursor would be way off from where I place my pen even after recalibrated. Currently working with Sai and CSP. Thanks for the reviews Brad!
I have a Huion and I am looking into XP-Pen because Huion definitely has driver issues. Mine regularly stops working and i need uninstall and reinstall the driver, and even then sometimes it doesn't work. I once tried 10 times and then had to wait a few days, try again and only then did it work. The tablets themselves have good quality but i am definitely dissapointed in their drivers that keep giving up on me.
I have xppen 15.6 pro. The moment i plug it on pc, (with required driver installed first), then everything seems ok. 6 month has passed, my only problem is my arts not improved LOL. People buying tablet with their hard earn money for drawing and fun, not buying something to add burden or to become 'technician' to the tablet.
I am sure you get this all the time... would you use this instead of the Wacom device or is that still the gold standard? Or if money wasn't an option which one would you use most? I've been interested in getting into the pen tablet market for a while and I see a lot more competition and I have the money for a cintiq device but the price is always a tough pill to swallow.
With cintiqs the major thing you get is resolution, in everything else huion and xp-pen caught up. So it's up to you, do you need higher res? Then only wacom has it or if you can wait this year huion is expected to introduce a 2k model, xp-pen might come this year too but they might leave it for the next year we will see. You can definitely do a professional work on all of these.
I've had an xp-pen tablet for a few months now, the artist 12 pro and I think there are a couple things I would change. The red ring is rather slippery so I'd add some texture to it for grip and I'd add a button inside the red ring, I feel like they missed out on it. I liked the pen holder add on though, wish mine had that.
Yeah, the ring is great but this is exactly what i thought too. But I'd say it's nitpicking not a major thing or even minor ;). But there should have been a button inside pretty natural for changing the wheel functionality ;)
Did you find some strange bug on express keys - 2 or more buttons preseed simultaneously not working ? Fore example Space - working, but Ctrl+Space or Ctrl+Alt+Space - not working.
I don't understand why you say a couple of times that these won't get any better. There is a clear path of improvement to quad hd and then to ultra hd. In parallel to that there is the move to fully bonded/laminated displays.
Not mentioned in your review, but did you ever get a change to set this up as a dual monitor? How easy was it to do so? Can you easily between monitors? I picked up the Huion 16 for my mac and it took a few hours to figure that out and I'm not convinced it will remain stable.
I like the screen size for the price. I have a 6th gen. iPad and I don’t think the screen is to small as I can pinch and zoom into the drawing. But if I used the screen size of this monitor it might be luxurious, with all the screen real-estate.
Tempted to get this over a Wacom tablet tbh. I do have a question, would you consider this a better alternative than a wacom? I plan to go back to school for my bachelors degree in illustration and want something that'll be really good for illustration.
How is the initial activation force with this one? I had some trouble with the 15.6 inch version last year. Had to send it back because I couldn't deal with having to bare down for it to register my pen strokes most of the time. I say most of the time because it was inconsistent.
The second I see a pen display that I am remotely interested in.... I come straight here. I trust your opinion on these products more than anyone. Thank you so much for this review. This gives me an idea of what I might need when it comes displays.
yeah I only trust jazza and brad
hi! have you purchased this display? if so would you recommend it? :)
Quick note: I forgot to mention in the review that the product was provided by XP-Pen
Wow so lucky. 😁
Brad, can I ask you for your input on a computer monitor? The monitor in question is the Pixio PX7 Prime
Brad likes his own comments
how convenient.
So should I go for the ( XP-pen 22 R Pro) or ( Huion 22 pro 2019)? Yo brad!!! tell me asap please!! Thanks!
If Huion and XP-Pen would just release tablets of this size in 4K, Wacom would be out of business.
They both just came out with a 2.5k resolution screen, a step in the right direction
ya
And if they would spend like $30 more on the pen.

I wouldn't say out of business but their prices would have to come way down.
XP-Pen and Huion really needs to release a large pen display with bonded 4k screen. And Wacom can go home.
Well, Huion already show a 4K 24" inch drawing Monitor if you take a look those pic of Huion 2020 CES booth in Huion's FB page...
@@01_zenyobiIt's not released yet though. But yeah, high hopes! Wacom's price policy is ridiculous considering today's state of affairs.
@@01_zenyobi it isn't 4k. it's 2.5k.
Still, 2k is enough to push for better competitive prices, at least with the entry level Wacom products.
I’d rather buy a 20-something inch display with 2k rather than Wacom’s 16/22 inch Cintiqs with just HD.
@@01_zenyobi 2.5K. Soon to be released.
I've always wanted to work on a larger display coming from the original XP-Pen15.6 and man it is so nice!
hii, would you still recommend it? or would you know if theres something better for a similar price? thanks in advance :)
I literally just unpacked my brandnew Artist 22R Pro and was waiting for your review for so long already
My impression is that this tablet is one of the best in lines perfomance . Thanks
Tbh I think the laminated screens on the newer Huion are a HUGE deal, like I prefer by far to use them than actual cintiqs without lamination...

Adobe animate ?
in Apple Mac desktop, Yes.
If you mean the XP pen Artist 16 pro, that can be considered as obsolete Old model with only low amount of colour range (
Im here for the review. This was offered to me by xp-pen support as a replacement for my defective innovator 16.
Thanks for the review.
XD
this bothers me a lot on an irrational level...
For example, I remember one review from Amazon (Of Huion drawing monitor, I forget which one)
A mother complaining because the tablet need to be connected to monitor and it doesn't include drawing app for her daughter to draw.
But then she thinks it's a scam, because "why tablet this big still needs to be connected to computer",
Especially when her old one were smaller and doesn't need to.
@@rin7836 Anyway, for a kid like you
A Tablet would be perfect..
Ipad 7th gen + Apple pencil is the cheapest with best quality
While the cheapest you can get is Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 with S pen.
If you already have PC/Laptop, an display tablet would be good.
The best Budget to performance ratio you can get is the Huion Kamvas 13 (non pro).
It looks cool (nice body colour) and cheap with decent drawing screen and easy to set up.
You can just connect it with USB C (if you have USB C thunderbolt/USB C Display)
or just one Display adapter and 2 usb slot.
Honorable mention :
- Huion Kamvas 12
- XP Pen Artist 12 Pro
- XP Pen Artist 13 Pro
_________________________________________
If you want to minimize budget,
You can choose graphics tablet (known as Pentab aka pentablet)
It's harder to learn (since you need to draw without looking into your hands but the screen).
The cheapest with decent feature I can get is the Huion H640P and XP Pen G640S
It's kind of easy to learn since they're not too small..
Another honorable mention :
- Huion H950P (I use this one, it was cheap in my country)
- XP Pen Deco 01 V2 (must get the V2, the one without V2 have worse pen)
- Huion Hs64 (alternative to H640P, there's yellow version that may appeal to some people)
After one year of my research of tablets and stuff, that's all I can give to you..
Especially at that time I was interested in tablets
(Tablet for games,, I'm not smart enough to understand that if I learn to draw, I could use the skill professionally later.
at that time, only Samsung tablet has Quad core processor, while the other only has double core or else and Ram for tablets were only about 512MB-1GB).
When will the new huion kamvas 13 review come ......! I'm waiting
@@MageThief Nice! I've always just been using your typical drawing tablets so I can't say much for screen based ones :)
Another solid review! Thanks Brad!
Once I fell asleep with my hand on the drawing tablet I’m the summer and when I woke up I was so scared that my hand was like literally stuck to the tablet
XP's calibration is really really point. If you're doing precision work (motion design, vector arts etc), XP is an absolute no-go

Finally Huion decide to disturb cintiq 24 pro market
2K? Do you mean 4K? Or maybe 1440p? 2K is 1080p. I am dying for a 4k version of the 22R.
I just had a look and it's QHD AKA 1440p or 2.5K. It's an improvement but a long way off from 4K which I'd prefer for such a massive display.

Great review. Super informative, to the point, and enjoyable. Thanks!
It's at $550 right now, which is why I'm here lol

Hi there I'm an animation student and I'm planning on getting this pen and tablet for my start as an artist mostly on the digital side of things

Hey Brad, first of all, im a big fan of your work. Now to the main part:
I really wanna get more into digital art.
I think this came in November but why did you not review it? 🤔😅
Hey brad ty for the great video, QUESTIONS:
currently as of 10/3/2022 the 22R is on sale for $470 and the 22E is selling for $499.

@@vManekiNeko thank you for answering!
I was expecting this one!
I have the Artist 22E Pro and XP-Pen absolutely need to start selling 4K versions of these larger displays. 1080p is too low a pixel density for a display of this size. It's not impossible to draw on but it is very noticeable.
I love the pic that you drew
Hey I like your way to coloring
I bought the 15.6 model last year and is very good. I do want this one as I hope it has a VESA Mount, the 15.6 doesn't.
What is better for drawing ? Ipad 7th generation or wacom one with screen ?
Ps. I love your reviews! ♡♡
ØldWine I got iPad 7th gen
I feel like the wacom one will be better
ØldWine from my experience I can’t live without pinch zoom. I still use a pinch zoom when navigating my drawing on a Cintiq pro 16. I’m fine on. 11” pro when drawing. But I need that pinch zoom. Regular drawing both are fine.
I’m not brad but I recommend the iPad because of the easy touch controls.
If you're just a begginers , with no PC or advanced hardware/software experience, and didn't need any specific feature/program from Window that didn't exist in apple and other OS (which is rarely happens),
It would be wiser for you to choose iPad 7th gen instead of Wacom One Display.
One way I would improve them is to decrease the display/bezel size
A 20" feels like a 24" just bc of the express keys but also bc of the bezels
There was to be enough bezel so that I can draw on the edges but the display could definitely be less frickin wide
They could put express keys in the back, behind the bezels & display, have the other hand grip around the side to press them
Obviously u can't see them but when I press the keys I don't look at them anyway, u learn which one is which
room for upgrade? Make it have a high refresh screen just for the heck of it, a display for drawing, gaming and just watching in general would be sick, but just imagining the amount of dough that would be needed to be thrown for such a gadget...
Should i buy this one or the Wacom Cintiq 16, i can't decideee
Ima wait out for the new HUION.
Also, if you are serious about art, you should definitely go for the Spyder to guarantee color accuracy.
nice review,. heard rumors that new Ipad pro is coming march. wondering if I should hold off on getting current Ipad pro?
Hi Brad, Can you tell how light or heavy xp-pen’s initial actuation force compare to wacom? Because xp-pen used to need higher force to initiate strokes than wacom. (8g vs 3g) I wonder if xp-pen has improved it ever since.
The stylus may be battery free. But it isn't dust free.
This pen monitor seems reall good, but i will wait for Huion Kamvas Pro 24 at 1440p. I hope it isn't very expensive.
Which tutorials did you use to learn how to use Photoshop?
I'm shocked they didn't go with bonded or laminated glass when their new red ring smaller displays do.
Why no one reviewed Gaomon PD2200 yet
But why didnt they use a laminated display like in the 15.6 pro? I dont understand that... than i will keep the 15.6 which IS laminated.
According to xp-pen the 22R pro has less parallax then their 15.6 pro from 2019, they used different (they say new but who knows) technology that's why it's not called a laminated display.
@@ViktorsJournal a comparison between these two regarding parallax would be great.
@@olimueller yeah I only have 22r pro and the 16 pro so I can't tell how the 15.6 is on it, I can only talk about these two.
@@ViktorsJournal hehe and i only have the 15.6 pro. I will see if i can get my hands on the new 22R Pro soon...
Could someone be so nice and tell me a history of the glorious glove dance? I discovered this channel several days ago and it baffles and amazes me at the same time. I mean if there's a compilation of all glove dances i would watch it xd
Tip: If you want to draw straight line just grab a brush, click on one side and hold shift and click on another end of the line.
So should I go for the ( XP-pen 22 R Pro) or ( Huion 22 pro 2019)? Yo tell me asap! Thanks!
i need this answer
Biggest difference seems to be that the !!2019!! Huion Kamvas Pro 22 has a bonded screen and less parallax.
not the club music at the drawing glove lmao
I guess this can be used as a display and also an input device. Is that correct?
If so, can it mirror the screen of the main monitor, or a window of the monitor?
For example, could it work with a Mac Mini?
I could see your hand wobble as you drew the straight line.
👍
@@penholder7765 thank you, i hope it works out well ! Keep practicing !
@@ViktorsJournal Thanks!
The return of the Glove Dance!!!!!
I don't understand why you say a couple of times that these won't get any better. There is a clear path of improvement to quad hd and then to ultra hd. In parallel to that there is the move to fully bonded/laminated displays.
PS thank you so much for your reviews ... I've watched a bunch of them and they are very helpful.
First finally!
....honestly want one tho
I think an OLED screen like a diant Samsung Note would be the ultimate setup. But that's a probably a 2000+ screen.
Do you have any courses on how to draw in your style?
How is the initial activation force with this one? I had some trouble with the 15.6 inch version last year. Had to send it back because I couldn't deal with having to bare down for it to register my pen strokes most of the time. I say most of the time because it was inconsistent.
