Honestly, any tablet with a screen is sooooooooooo much easier to draw with. Painting is easy regardless of what type of tablet you use: screen or screenless. However, if you're to used to drawing traditionally, then it's really hard to get to used the disconnect between not having a drawing underneath your hand. Just look for a screen tablet in your price range and especially for used ones because not only are they half the price for expensive brands, it also helps create a circular economy. Of course, be smart and do your research by watching reviews and compare different pictures of the tablets offered on whatever site your purchasing from, to avoid getting scammed. If you don't have the money for a tablet, work a summer job or part-time and save up for it. These things take time and effort to get, you'll get there if you put in the work for it.
@@ralphopium Which is why you need to do your own research on what product (new or old) would best suit your needs. There's no one size fits all for tablets or anything in life really.
Lots of respect on waiting to get acquainted with the tablet before reviewing it and not comparing it with other tablets that you haven't used enough to be able to make a fare judgment.I'm buying the pro 22r next week (!!! :):):)) I'll check if you have a link for the tablet. Great review thank you
A nice review! I'm a little old-school, but I'm starting to value video reviews like this more lately; very helpful! I want to say thank you for explaining that the round parts on the side are rubber plugs. I just got my 22R and it doesn't mention anywhere, even in the manual, how to install the pen holder on the side! I couldn't find it mentioned on any websites or forums either. Also, I'm totally with you on the weight for the apple pencil. It doesn't seem like much at first, but the first time I tried to make a more intricate image on my iPad my wrist was so sore, lol!
i got the Huion 22 (non 2019 version) because this 22R was sold out. seemed to be practically identical in terms of specs so i went with what was available.
@@trickywagon great to hear that! No worries, I'll always for your vlogs. Just drop one whenever you feel like it. :) And also, hoping for ur great health for whatever plans that you want to do! ❤️
fellow intuos 5 owner represent! I've been eyeing the 22r pro ever since they announced it that why I stumbled upon this review (I've seen few from others as well), still building my budget but how is the upgrade feels from the intuos? I know it's kinda a dumb question but switching from tablet to display I imagine is going to be like the first time I use a pen tablet. mine has been with me well over six years since uni it has such old driver I feel like I should only use it on win 7.
metalperslfx i know this is kinda old now but if you’re still wondering how the switch is like, a few years back i upgraded from intuos to surface pro (after using various wacom pen tablets for over 6 years) and in my experience it was super easy to get used to and felt a lot more natural than the inuos, definitely easier to adjust to than when i first started using pen tablets since there’s not disconnect when using a display tablet it really feels much more like drawing on paper. I’d compare the feeling to how it felt when i switched from regular to mechanical pencil for traditional sketching. I know a lot of people worry about parralax with screen tablets and while my tablet doesnt have parallax, i’ve drawn on tablets that do and honestly it does not affect drawing at all unless you’re very zoomed out and drawing something small then connecting lines may be difficult to line up but overall you dont really notice it unless you look for it. If you are concerned tho, look for one that has a laminated screen as that will reduce parallax.
10:52 Parallax IS always a bad thing. I don't want to guess where the cursor is when I touch the screen with the nib. It should be right underneath the pen tip. This is the point of display tablets, isn't it? And the larger the screen - the more of an issue the glass thickness becomes, because it increases the distortion the further away from the center you go. Than is why I sometimes hate to draw on my display tablet and still prefer traditional media.
I mean it depends on your experience, I tend to get used to it very quickly as I like to see my cursor on the screen when I do digital art. It's also an extremely minimal parallax, though still noticeable, if you prefer a more true to traditional experience then I'd recommend the iPad and apple pencil, it is more similar.
It's a nice tablet but all the time out-of-stock xD. There is some firmware update around which fixes some issues, not sure if it's already out officially or if you still need to ask xp-pen for a link but there is a youtube video about it from someone so might be worth to check it out.
@trickywagon Really enjoyed your review. Its nice to find a very humble and neutral opinion in this kind of videos. After watching you drawing on the XP-pen I'm buying the 22R right now!!! Do you know if they are still delivering it with the cute gift box? ( I love merchandising doh!!!) Keep the amazing work, You have a new fan!!!
I have the 22 E PRO here unopened except for the cellophane wrapping. Something told me not to buy it and wait for the next iteration. :/ I like those red radial buttons. Then again I haven't made the time to actually use it. That's why the next generation caught up to me.
where have i been hiding this whole time? I didn't know you had youtube Sush! This makes me so so happy (and a bit guilty) mskkdkf anyhow, time to subscribe!! 🤩🤩
I own a 16 HD Pro Tablet from XP-Pen. It is great, only thing i dont like are the cables. I would prefer one Cable that Splits at the end in three. Also my Ports on the Tablet are a bit cheap it seems.. If i move the Tablet to much and dont watch for the Cable, my Screen went short black and then back to my Program
XP pen currently having lot of issues maybe due to driver version, or the window 10 update itself. my experiences with it so far with 15.6pro is rather negative, delayed input (like always having auto-smooth/line smoothing turns on and you can't turn it off ) makes it extremely cumbersome when you draw rough sketch , drawing small fine detail or even simply writing letters. yes the pressure sensitivity has varies a whole lot but it also comes including a 'DEADZONE' when you simply using it as a mouse. you'd need to press hard up to 1/4 of its sensitivity range for left mouse input to be recognized. untill they fix this I really cannot recommend it to anyone and I'm very close to looking to resell mine.
oh, did I mentioned it also have a weird window lock where you can't click it on various kind of window? someone even reported they can't click on ClipStudiopaint UI except drawing area. > wo )+ good luck.
I hope your reading this 😌 do you prefer photoshop more or clip studio? I want to get one of them, but I’m stuck in between 🤔 love your art by the way 🥰
Such a great review! I've been thinking of picking this up because of the price. How do you feel about transitioning from a wacom intuos to a screen tablet? :o
Aah thank you this is helpful! My intuos is super old so I don't have the touch capability but I feel like anything else feels awkward haha I guess it'll take practice like anything else. ^^ Thank you so much again!
I'm looking to buy one of these, thanks for the review. You say you are using Photoshop CS6, which is the version I have, but XP Pen say it won't work with this version, I should upgrade to CC. Did you have any problems? Really confused.
It does work but there is some mild jittering that occurs with brushstrokes, I show some of it in the video a bit later on. I haven't used it extensively with CS6 so I'm afraid I can't say what else might not be compatible.
I totally agree with the classic pen. I only use that pen with the Mobile Studio Pro and Cintiq Pro. I do not understand that the big pens are the standard.
Did you have to uninstall the wacom drivers? I mean your previous tablet looks like a wacom, and I keep hearing about other tablets drivers not working well while the wacom tablets are there or something like that
can someone tell me how lobng those normally last? I want to buy one, but I don't feel like buying something worth €500-€800 if it won't last at least 7 years but maybe it's impossible for such a thing to last so long idk
OMG ... She is SO cute !!! She's also talented, but I admit that it was hard for me to concentrate on her talent because of the "cuteness aspect" !!! Bless her 😏
li sha personally I wouldn’t recommend the 12.. it’s quality is a lot lower than most of the other XP-Pens. It feels very plastic-y and in general was not something I would personally recommend. I got one for Christmas last year and after a month is broke and began to burn itself up. I ended up getting a 15.6 pro from the warranty and would say it was surprising that they were the same brand. The quality is much better. It is much more responsive and the parallax was not as bad as on the 12. So personally I would recommend waiting just a bit longer to save up a bit more money because the higher quality ones will last a lot longer.
