    If your trailer catches fire like that this is what to do. Stop ASAP, unlock the 5th wheel air, pull trailer brake handle, go forward to slide the 5th wheel all the way back, apply the brake and emergency, run out and pull the handle, release parking brakes, drop the trailer on the ground and move the truck far away. Depending on the freight it could get very dangerous and the hot ash could burn your truck as well.

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 5 лет назад +1

      Some guy commented about not sliding the 5th wheel back. You could do that but when the trailer drops on the tires and frame the crossbar between the frame catches the kingpin and you’re stuck. I forgot to mention the air lines and power cable. You’re going to want to disconnect those as well if you have time. If the trailer is already a ball of fire screw the cables you can replace those.

    As for carrying, it varies from state to state. California doesn’t recognize any other states CCW. I always carried and kept my pistol in my sleeper.
    As for nasty roads, check out the Donner Pass.

      You've never had your cab inspected? I thought dot randomly inspects the entire truck

    • @davidallen3158
      @davidallen3158 4 года назад +1

      DeRon They can’t just inspect the sleeper without a warrant. DOT inspections are safety features like tires, brakes, lights, etc. they do check your log book, but you just hand it to them.

    Say your from NC. You have to follow nc rules while in nc. If you leave nc you have to comply with the next state you go to Or dont go. In sc you have to have a ccw to carry in sc, regardless where your coming from. Certain states recognize other state laws while travelin.know before you go
    , Dont jeopardize your freedom or your cdl if you dont know..

    I the States, can you drive with the Hazards on? Here in Brazil, you can only use it when standing to indicate others that your veicules is parked, especially in bad weather conditions or if you are on a dangerous place

    • @nathanruby9550
      @nathanruby9550 5 лет назад +1

      Yes, like when you have the spare tire on and can only go 45mph.

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 5 лет назад +3

      Hazards are always used; when driving 20 mph under the posted speed limit, when it’s raining hard, thick fog or snow, dust storm, if the traffic has abruptly stopped on the road, and if you are starting from the shoulder.

    • @robertheinkel6225
      @robertheinkel6225 5 лет назад +1

      Hazards are never to be used on a moving vehicle. They are only to be used when you are parked, and present a danger to others. There are a lot of ignorant drivers out there, that make up their own rules.

    • @markm0000
      @markm0000 5 лет назад

      @Robert Heinkel I’m going to need a source on that from DOT because that sounds like a load of bullshit. Hazard lights are the only way you can signal danger to traffic behind you.

    you can carry in any state that honors your state which is almost all other then cali washington oregon ny nj maryland all your super liberal states. you can google a map witht hte state your permit is in and see. be safe,, Contrary to what many drivers believe, there is no federal law that prohibits truck drivers from carrying guns in their trucks as long as they adhere to local and state laws. However, many carriers prohibit company drivers from carrying weapons.

    Rusty; I have been out here with a Class A CDL for 27 years. The level of aggressive driver has become incredible in the last 10 years. The level of ME FIRST and self entitlement is the same and the level of Class A drivers that ARE ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS of the vehicle they drive when they follow too closely, text while driving, attempt to drive tired... is also out of control. If I SURVIVE the next three years, that's it for me. Driving has turned into a dreaded chore and when you add to that the TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY FUCKED INFRASTRUCTURE it's no longer fun.

    I’ve been out here on the road trucking for over forty years and never, never had any problems to warrant self defense. Now that doesn’t mean that I am not keeping my defense up. I have learned over the years to just shut up about yourself and drive on. Like a ship passing through the night. Yielding no problems.

    If you have questions about the CCW, I’d suggest you join a group like USCCA (there’s several out there) and get advice from of their attorney’s. There’s lots of different rules depending on the state your and they will pay legal fees if you do end up having to defend yourself
