I really like the integration of so many features. 24v system is over-due. Super Cap starter. Nice, but this is something you can do yourself to any truck for about $800. I wonder what a replacement is going to cost OEM...probably thousands... A lot of bespoke stuff here, going to be very expensive to replace bespoke parts. Factory cab cooler is interesting. Still going to put a generator on my truck though, probably an auxiliary cooler as well in case the factory one decides to go out. Again, part and repair cost are a concern, I can fix my own APU system for the most part using off the shelf parts. A bespoke part on a truck is usually hundreds or thousands for a part I can get for $100 bucks off the shelf. Cost is going to be an issue, we can't have trucks going from 164k back in 2018 to over 200k in such a short time. That far outpaces inflation, though its easier to make a value comparison with the 860s vs a cascadia or some other type of fleet truck.... Just some thought droppings...

Yes, I know all about this truck. I took a test drive in it because I was in the market to buy a truck. Volvos are very nice and comfortable trucks and I told him if it’s electric don’t even get it out diesel only I don’t know if it’s the same truck you drove but I drove one that had some weird designs on there and I liked it, it was just outside of my price range so I couldn’t get one at this time but it’s a beautiful truck inside and out if you can talk them into selling me one or giving me one old promote it for him. I told him that dude I’ll promoted all day long for.
Absolutely true! And it`s so faulty on european volvo trucks! If wiring shortcuts while driving - good luck is all you have, instead of ANY braking system!
Everyone mentions the mirrors like they’re the only option. You can see later in the video the other trucks in the showroom don’t have the monitor mirrors.
The truck is sick, i see lots of stuff from euro volvo like suspension and electronic airbreaks and 24v. If im still owner op and don’t give up in this crazy freight market and rates improve ill get me one, because my 12 volvo is at final years of its life
You gotta like that, Virginia heat, so did you get a chance to ride around on the Blue Ridge Mountains? Hopefully, you got to visit Natural Bridge. Dublin is a nice, to visit.
I just don't see the point in those cameras for mirrors. I drive a stretched tractor with up to 6' of overhang and have no issues backing up or maneuvering around.
@@jamesaddie4895 It looks like it's around $1,000 to replace one of those cameras if it gets broken. Hard pass just on that. The screens themselves seem to be about $400. Just seems like more crap I don't really need. Definitely won't be ordering a truck with those on it.
Thank you for that info on the new Volvos this has to be the best video i have watched. I have a 2013 Volvo VNL 670 always have been a Peterbilt fan until I purchased a Volvo I have 1260000 miles on my d13 never anything but overheads and turbo. I had been thinking maybe a new Peterbilt this time until I seen this video it was a game changer it will most likely be another Volvo next time love the mirror cameras nice ideal think I would like them.
From what I remembered and stated in another comment I'm pretty sure for their price point , 10k they are warranted out for their life time with the exception obviously of intentional idiocy like you taking a bat to them.
No thanks, i like my old trucks. Digital mirrors, how does it work in rain, snow, extreme heat? What if the screen glitches, short circuits, or the camera fails? No push air breaks seems like a hazard to me if the electronics fail, is there a fail safe? The suspension is quite nice when you're constantly dropping and hooking, when the trailer landing gear was lowered too much.
I can't speak for the auto brakes but they are made by Bendix, which make a lot of truck automation products as you know like the kind spot monitor system , so I'd say let your their other products determine your opinion, I'd assume it's not a completely park by wire set up, I'm sure while the wheels are spinning above 1mph it won't allow itself to be locked the same way if it determined a failure in the air or electronics it won't let you pop the brakes, although I can say one of my favorite about them is ths feature to set the brakes if you forget to and then proceed to open the door and step out.
On the other hand I've had experience with the mirror eye system and it's pretty great, it's has a heater on the mirror for rain and snow, and works really well at doing so, you no longer have that problem where your mirror is blocked up by rain because the top of the camera has a big of a lip to it and sorta like a rain x film to prevent its view being blocked. As far as over heating, well it is outside mostly, so as your drive it's naturally gonna stay cooler , sure they also have some form of heat sink to keep the system cool. The perk from what I've been told though is that they are usually warranted through their life time with a promise of 24-48 hour service and maintenance response for repairs, usually the only problems reported have been software related but they are connected to a network and can usually send software right to the camera from their office to fix or diagnose any problems.
For my 24 Kenworth t680 any update we have to go to dealer but everything he said is correct we have two in our fleet and the one I have has no problems but the other had camera issues kept going out to the point where he was driving blind but also we don’t have regular mirrors either so he didn’t like the new mirrors
Saw one a few weeks ago at a Carolina dealer.....wouldn't touch one with a 1000 foot pole....loads don't pay enough to support the payments, insurance and all the other stuff....
I li me the idea of the mirrors no more worrying if somebody is going to take off your mirrors because they went to cdl school for 2 days But definitely would be worried what all that mirror can see and hear while I’m not driving
Did they fix that cheap plastic ? .. did they fix those loose fairings ? Did they fix egr getting clogged up ? Did they fix the way it shakes like a Buffalo head when it's lil windy ? Who asked for these mirrors man we don't need that . Best review so far . Everything got covered thanks for the information.
As somebody whos running a 23 vnl860 right now... I hope they got rid of that annoying stupid right blinker honk when a car is on the side of your cab. I literally cant use my right turn signal appropriately because of that. Not to mention it makes everyone around me think something is wrong anytime it goes off and freaks them out. Its anything but a safe. Side not...one of my complaints with the current vnl860 is the cabinet layout. This new one is soo much better laid out, very freightliner style. Which is one of the things i like about the Cascadias. I was thinking after this volvo i have now that i would switch to the Cascadia. Now im not so sure.

Auto park brake? N'aw. Plenty of weird situations where I need manual control to do the job. No bueno.
Absolutely true!
And it`s so faulty on european volvo trucks!
If wiring shortcuts while driving - good luck is all you have, instead of ANY braking system!
Agree, I want to be in control, not some freaking computer.
Does it still have the VADA system? I drive a VNR daycab now and that system is bad. Way too much beeping driving in traffic.
Bro I work at that plant and didn’t even know you came!
Awesome video. I deliver paint to Volvo Dublin, VA regularly from Front Royal, VA awesome to see you guys at the Dublin plant.
The rates can't afford this truck
Everyone mentions the mirrors like they’re the only option. You can see later in the video the other trucks in the showroom don’t have the monitor mirrors.
This is one bad ass truck I don’t care what anyone says. Well done VOLVO. 👍👍👍👍
Im a big fan of the Volvo. Nice truck!
the video camera mirrors are not a new thing..
does anyone know the mattress size in this beautiful truck??
How motoring public going to see driver if they can’t see him on the mirrors?
The truck is sick, i see lots of stuff from euro volvo like suspension and electronic airbreaks and 24v. If im still owner op and don’t give up in this crazy freight market and rates improve ill get me one, because my 12 volvo is at final years of its life
And the price is???
Close to 200k
24V system. What about trailer voltage?
Truly remarkable truck. Gorgeous!
I really enjoy all the comments, particularly the ones re. new tech vs. old school😂
As a Volvo owner forgot to mention I was thinking what is that windshield replacement going to cost every 6 months usually its needed lol.
You gotta like that, Virginia heat, so did you get a chance to ride around on the Blue Ridge Mountains? Hopefully, you got to visit Natural Bridge. Dublin is a nice, to visit.
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
I guess it depends how your loads are paying. I could be wrong but loads are not paying enough.
Bro why you driving like a rookie 😂😂😂😂good job bro.
hahaha. they told me both hands on the wheel hahaha
@@MuthaTruckerusually yo weiner with other hand ya
Can you get the Cummins engine in one
I love Volvo already. But this truck is actually 🔥🔥🔥. I might get one 😂.
I just don't see the point in those cameras for mirrors. I drive a stretched tractor with up to 6' of overhang and have no issues backing up or maneuvering around.
In the winter they don't get dirty and the camera is all the way up top so less cleaning if any.
Also those mirrors are inside so at night you can see who's walking around your truck with your curtains closed.
@@jamesaddie4895 It looks like it's around $1,000 to replace one of those cameras if it gets broken. Hard pass just on that. The screens themselves seem to be about $400. Just seems like more crap I don't really need. Definitely won't be ordering a truck with those on it.
In other words they used the TRW system. And this selective steering has been used on large diesel RVs for years.
I love Volvo feel like you are driving a cadillac
Part numbers and and cost of replacement for those mirrors systems.
I'm no expert on these things so obviously take what I say more as overheard opinion rather then 100% fact and conclude how you must about it.
@AHomeInTrucking sounds good, but one thing, they send software to the camera from their office, there is a privacy contract for those cameras?
For my 24 Kenworth t680 any update we have to go to dealer but everything he said is correct we have two in our fleet and the one I have has no problems but the other had camera issues kept going out to the point where he was driving blind but also we don’t have regular mirrors either so he didn’t like the new mirrors
Saw one a few weeks ago at a Carolina dealer.....wouldn't touch one with a 1000 foot pole....loads don't pay enough to support the payments, insurance and all the other stuff....
I wonder if you can spec this out with an X15 productivity series.
Yes, i want a Volvo VNL for my first truck as an owner operator.
Cool looking truck. If I knew you were going to be at Dublin I'd of stopped in and seen you 😎
Next time!
How come Ive never seen one on the road yet?
cause it's brand new
How about reliability.
I li me the idea of the mirrors no more worrying if somebody is going to take off your mirrors because they went to cdl school for 2 days But definitely would be worried what all that mirror can see and hear while I’m not driving
Definitely doubling as a driver cam.
Good looking truck but no mention of price or reliability
I hope they’ll offer a 6x2 with a liftable axle for better economy. If I own one of these, I want it setup for the ultimate efficiency.
Wow thank you for the ride of the new Volvo truck.
Sir. State are you in
Did they fix that cheap plastic ? .. did they fix those loose fairings ? Did they fix egr getting clogged up ? Did they fix the way it shakes like a Buffalo head when it's lil windy ? Who asked for these mirrors man we don't need that . Best review so far . Everything got covered thanks for the information.
Delete the emissions system, and this is one comfortable truck to drive
Nothing beats a conventional mirror. Other than that. Love the new Volvo
