I honestly LOVE Jayfeather. He is one of my favorite cats so far. His blindness and telepathy powers give you a whole new view on the books, and his personality is just so interesting. He is like a puzzle with no picture. You just have to use the edges to GUESS how it fits.

He is a jerk at times.. but that is part of his character.. it's part of him. I'm not excusing him of anything. I'm simply adding on to his few good natures. Jayfeather is by no-means my favorite character. I just think it's cool how "Jay Wing" contributed to the whole lake, mountains, OG forest, lake arc.. etc
I like Jayfeather, okay, but I hated how cruel he treated Hollyleaf when she got back. Pushing her away because she wasn't part of the profecy.
I always thought he pushed her away because he had a tiny bit of resentment towards her for leaving them (him and lion) to deal with the backlash of what she revealed
@@topmalk Yeah, she did do something pretty messed up. Spilling the secret, ruining their lives, and then leaving them to just deal with the backlash by themselves. Also hiding from them for so long. I understand why, but it doesn't excuse what she did. I would be upset at her, too, if I was him

I agree completely. A character that has development is the best kind of character. He's influenced by others and by what has happened previously, allowing him to make decisions. He has reasons to do things, rather than doing something just for the sake of it.

Jayfeather has and always will be my favorite cat in the whole franchise, simply because he's so well written. His imperfections make sense, his antisocial and sociopathic tendencies resonate with the recluse in me, and his limitations of blindness present a very active method of inhibiting his overall power. I mean, imagine if he COULD see, AND he could read minds. He would be the most powerful cat, even with Dovewing and Lionblaze there, simply because he could play both the mind game and the fight game.
Sure, he whines, but so do a lot of cats. And he's BLIND, he has the right to complain.

When you think about Jayfeather kinda created the clans because he made Half Moon stone teller when he was with the ancients, and Lion’s Roar (Lionblaze) suggested to stone teller that they should separate their tribe, thus making half of their tribe move to the original forest in dawn of the clans.

Jayfeather also has sacrificed any things in his life,his love for halfmoon,his role in the clan and many more his story is very written having the fact that he had to give up his dream of being a warrior he is still able to be a medicine cat even tho he is *blind!* yes,blind! Even tho he is blind he shows great enthusiasm into helping his clanmates almost sacrificing his life to save flametail. I really agree with your thoughts on him

Ok, I respect what you’re trying to do but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if someone finds him annoying then that’s just how they feel and you need to respect that. I have mixed feelings on Jayfeather. Some of the things about him do annoy me.. like how he forgives and loves Leafpool and treats the cat who raised him like rubbish. That and the way he treated Hollyleaf when she came back, excluding her and being indifferent. The newer books really bother me, he has no reason to be an ass to others, he’s well respected and seen as a hero but he acts like an entitled asshole. I don’t hate him but I do hate some of his actions and I do find him annoying at times. I’m not holding anything against Jaypaw though, he was just a child that was trying to fit in and had a harsh mentoring (Leafpool was cruel to him throughout his whole apprenticeship so it’s no wonder he lacks manners, we learn by example after all)

"He's like that because he had a hard life being blind" That's not a good excuse. There are people that lost limbs, have suicidal thoughts and hated the world, and have dementia or other mental disorders, but you still see them being able to act kind and helpful.

Yeah I hate when people see him only as grumpy. He was really grumpy back when he could'nt connect with cats, but now he learned to be less grumpy and to connect with others. He can still be a bit grumpy sometime, but he alway have a good heart.

People may have talked about this before, I'm not sure, but I kinda feel where Jaypaw is coming from with his initial feelings toward Brightheart and Longtail. They live in a culture where you're expected to be useful in a specific way. To be a "valuable" clan member. Granted, it came out long after this video, but that was Longtail's whole thing in Brightheart's graphic novel. When you grow up around these beliefs and learn that anyone similar before you is looked down on or isn't expected to succeed, what are you supposed to do? Even though he's blind himself, it's as if this culture, this idea of being useful, is so ingrained in him that he projects those feelings on everyone, including others who are hurt by it. I'm not defending his actions, as he definitely shouldn't have treated brightheart or longtail that way, but reading it, I immediately understood where it came from. I'm just glad that he gets to have an arc and grow. To realize the truth about things and become better. That they are valuable just for being there, and that theres so much he can do. That while others may have doubted him, he proved them wrong and succeded in ways others could only dream of.

I love Jayfeather because I can relate to him. While I'm not blind I still have a disability asperger syndrome a type of autism. I sometimes don't pick up on social cues and I can be very emotional. While I am more high functioning it's still hard for me to make friends because I was bullied for most of my life and the fact that I'm so shy and antisocial doesn't help reading jayfeather's chapters really made me feel less alone and the internet is my social outlet because people don't have to know that I have autism. Gaming is also how I cope with my emotions and insecurities. So yeah Jayfeather is awesome!
a lot of his anger comes from being blind. he wants to prove to his clan that his blindness doesn't define him. becoming a medicine cat (which he doesn't want to be in the first place), to him, was like saying blind cats can't be warriors. he's hostile towards brightheart because he was placed with the cat that also had impaired vision like he can't become normal warrior or something.
also a lot of it comes from the prophecy forcing him to do things he doesn't want to. he never wanted to be a medicine cat, he's just good at it.
I love Jayfeather because I can relate to him. (I'm not blind, I mean his personality.) This is because he's not always positive, and is grumpy sometimes. Also, I think if I was a warrior cat, I would be a medicine cat instead.

i think when the three lost their powers was when i started to not like dovewing and started to like Ivypool, because just like you said, jayfeather could cope without his powers, but dovewing didnt. she was so reliable on her powers that it kind of messed up her character a bit, which led to her feeling incompetent. she was kind of in that situation that ivypool was in; ivypool was the better sibling.
I will never forget how he got back at Lionblaze in Bramblestar's Storm 😂

Eh, I still hate him
One thing I don't like about PoT is Jaypaws mentors. Brightheart kept him in camp for a moon and made him do menial tasks while other mentors led their apprentices out to go battle training and patrolling. It's like having to clean your room while other kids go out and play and actually learn useful stuff. Brightheart never taught him anything other than having to clean dens and get ticks off elders. In the battle with ShadowClan, Jaypaws confidence was crushed and Brightheart never said anything supportive. Leafpools character was completely different when training Jaypaw. She was mean and ignorent. When she was training Hollypaw she was at least supportive and trying. To Jaypaw she snapped at him and never really listened to him.
I kind of think Erin is starting to end for some reason and if that is true i do not except it because a after my grandma who i loved dearly died I was kind of depressed but then I found Warriors and it cured that and made me happier. Please don't ever stop making them Erin Hunter.
